1The RAMA Ped Card: Does it work for actual weight estimation in child patients at the emergency department显示文摘BACKGROUND: In emergency conditions, the actual weight of infants and young children are essential for treatments. The RAMATHIBODI Pediatric Emergency Drug Card or RAMA Ped Card has also been developed to estimate actual weight of the subjects. This study aimed to validate the RAMA Ped Card in correctly identifying the actual weight of infants and young adults.METHODS: This study was a prospective study. We enrolled all consecutive patients under 15 years of age who visited the emergency department(ED). All eligible patients' actual weight and height were measured at the screening point of the ED. The weight of each patient was also measured using the unlabeled RAMA Ped Card. The Cohen's kappa values and agreement percentages were calculated.RESULTS: During the study period, there were 345 eligible patients. The RAMA Ped Card had a 61.16% agreement with the actual weight with a kappa of 0.54(P<0.01), while the agreement with the actual height had a kappa of 0.90 and 91.59% agreement. Sub-group analysis found kappa scores with good range in two categories: in cases of accidents and in the infant group(kappa of 0.68 and 0.65, respectively).CONCLUSION: The RAMA Ped Card had a fair correlation with the actual weight in child patients presenting at the ED. 11Preparation and characterization of ceramic materials with low thermal conductivity and high strength using high-calcium fly ash显示文摘High calcium-fly ash(HCFA)collected from the Mae Moh electricity generating plant in Thailand was utilized as a raw material for ceramic production.The main compositions of HCFA characterized by X-ray fluorescence mainly consisted of 28.55wt%SiO_(2),16.06wt%Al_(2)O_(3),23.40wt%CaO,and 17.03wt%Fe_(2)O_(3).Due to high proportion of calcareous and ferruginous contents,HCFA was used for replacing the potash feldspar in amounts of 10wt%-40wt%.The influence of substituting high-calcium fly ash(0-40wt%)and sintering temperatures(1000-1200℃)on physical,mechanical,and thermal properties of ceramic-based materials was investigated.The results showed that the in-corporation of HCFA in appropriate amounts could enhance the densification and the strength as well as reduce the thermal conductivity of ceramic samples.High proportion of calcareous and ferruginous constituents in fly ash promoted the vitrification behavior of ceramic samples.As a result,the densification was enhanced by liquid phase formation at optimum fly ash content and sintering temperature.In addition,these components also facilitated a more abundant mullite formation and consequently improved flexural strength of the ceramic samples.The op-timum ceramic properties were achieved with adding fly ash content between 10wt%-30wt%sintered at 1150-1200℃.At 1200℃,the max-imum flexural strength of ceramic-FA samples with adding fly ash 10wt%-30wt%(PSW-FA(10)-(30))was obtained in the range of 92.25-94.71 MPa when the water absorption reached almost zero(0.03%).In terms of thermal insulation materials,the increase in fly ash addi-tion had a positively effect on the thermal conductivity,due to the higher levels of porosity created by gas evolving from the inorganic decom-position reactions inside the ceramic-FA samples.The addition of 20wt%-40wt%high-calcium fly ash in ceramic samples sintered at 1150℃reduced the thermal conductivity to 14.78%-49.25%,while maintaining acceptable flexural strength values(~45.67-87.62 MPa).Based on these promising mechanical and thermal characteristics,it is feasible to utilize this high-calcium fly ash as an alternative raw material in clay compositions for manufacturing of ceramic tiles.Mana Rodchom Panida Wimuktiwan Kanit Soongprasit Duangduen Atong Supawan Vichaphund 2022International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,8:1

18Protective effects of rice bran hydrolysates on heart rate variability,cardiac oxidative stress,and cardiac remodeling in high fat and high fructose diet-fed rats显示文摘Objective:To examine the ameliorative effect of rice bran hydrolysates(RBH)on metabolic disorders,cardiac oxidative stress,heart rate variability(HRV),and cardiac structural changes in high fat and high fructose(HFHF)-fed rats.Methods:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were daily fed either standard chow diet with tap water or an HFHF diet with 10%fructose in drinking water over 16 weeks.RBH(500 and 1000 mg/kg/day)was orally administered to the HFHF-diet-fed rats during the last 6 weeks of the study period.At the end of the treatment,metabolic parameters,oxidative stress,HRV,and cardiac structural changes were examined.Results:RBH administration significantly ameliorated metabolic disorders by improving lipid profiles,insulin sensitivity,and hemodynamic parameters.Moreover,RBH restored HRV,as evidenced by decreasing the ratio of low-frequency to highfrequency power of HRV,a marker of autonomic imbalance.Cardiac oxidative stress was also mitigated after RBH supplementation by decreasing cardiac malondialdehyde and protein carbonyl,upregulating eNOS expression,and increasing catalase activity in the heart.Furthermore,RBH mitigated cardiac structural changes by reducing cardiac hypertrophy and myocardial fibrosis in HFHFdiet-fed rats.Conclusions:The present findings suggest that consumption of RBH may exert cardioprotective effects against autonomic imbalances,cardiac oxidative stress,and structural changes in metabolic syndrome.Ketmanee Senaphan Upa Kukongviriyapan Pisit Suwannachot Geerasak Thiratanaboon Weerapon Sangartit Supawan Thawornchinsombut Akkasit Jongjareonrak 2021Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2021,11,5:0
19Anti-tumor activity of rice bran hydrolysates on migration, invasion and angiogenesis显示文摘Objective:To investigate anti-tumor effect of rice bran hydrolysates(RBH)on proliferation,migration,invasion,and angiogenesis of cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)cells,and elucidate the underlying mechanisms.Methods:RBH was prepared from Tubtim Chumprae rice(Oryza sativa L.)by hydrothermolysis followed by protease digestion.Phenolic content in RBH was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography.Human CCA cells,KKU-156,KKU-452,and KKU-100,were used to study the effects of RBH on proliferation,migration,invasion,and adhesion by wound healing,Transwell chamber,and fibronectin cell adhesion assays.Angiogenesis was evaluated using human umbilical vein endothelial cells.Proteins associated with cancer progression were analyzed by immunobloting assays.Results:RBH contained carbohydrates,proteins,lipids,and various phenolic compounds and flavonoids.RBH did not inhibit CCA proliferation,but strongly suppressed migration,invasion,adhesion of CCA cells,and the formation of tube-like capillary structures of human umbilical vein endothelial cells.Moreover,RBH downregulated phosphorylation of FAK,PI3K,and Akt,suppressed NF-κB nuclear translocation,decreased the expression of ICAM-1,vimentin and vascular endothelium growth factor(VEGF),and increased the expression of E-cadherin.Conclusions:RBH suppresses CCA cell migration and invasion and decreases expression of proteins involved in cancer metastasis.RBH is a potential food supplement for cancer prevention.Suphanthip Phusrisom Laddawan Senggunprai Auemduan Prawan Sarinya Kongpetch Upa Kukongviriyapan Supawan Thawornchinsombut Sirithon Siriamornpun Theeraphan Chumroenphat Ronnachai Changsri Veerapol Kukongviriyapan 2021Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2021,11,7:0
