1Chemomechanical modeling of lithiation-induced failure in high-volume-change electrode materials for lithium ion batteries显示文摘The rapidly increasing demand for efficient energy storage systems in the last two decades has stimulated enormous efforts to the development of high-capacity,high-power,durable lithium ion batteries.Inherent to the high-capacity electrode materials is material degradation and failure due to the large volumetric changes during the electrochemical cycling,causing fast capacity decay and low cycle life.This review surveys recent progress in continuum-level computational modeling of the degradation mechanisms of high-capacity anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.Using silicon(Si)as an example,we highlight the strong coupling between electrochemical kinetics and mechanical stress in the degradation process.We show that the coupling phenomena can be tailored through a set of materials design strategies,including surface coating and porosity,presenting effective methods to mitigate the degradation.Validated by the experimental data,the modeling results lay down a foundation for engineering,diagnosis,and optimization of high-performance lithium ion batteries.Sulin Zhang 2017npj Computational Materials2017,,1:4
2CFD simulation on the generation of turbidites in deepwater areas: a case study of turbidity current processes in Qiongdongnan Basin, northern South China Sea显示文摘Turbidity currents represent a major agent for sediment transport in lakes, seas and oceans. In particular, they formulate the most significant clastic accumulations in the deep sea, which become many of the world's most important hydrocarbon reservoirs. Several boreholes in the Qiongdongnan Basin, the northwestern South China Sea, have recently revealed turbidity current deposits as significant hydrocarbon reservoirs. However, there are some arguments for the potential provenances. To solve this problem, it is essential to delineate their sedimentary processes as well as to evaluate their qualities as reservoir. Numerical simulations have been developed rapidly over the last several years, offering insights into turbidity current behaviors, as geologically significant turbidity currents are difficult to directly investigate due to their large scale and often destructive nature. Combined with the interpretation of the turbidity system based on highresolution 3D seismic data, the paleotophography is acquired via a back-stripping seismic profile integrated with a borehole, i.e., Well A, in the western Qiongdongnan Basin; then a numerical model is built on the basis of this back-stripped profile. After defining the various turbidity current initial boundary conditions, including grain size, velocity and sediment concentration, the structures and behaviors of turbidity currents are investigated via numerical simulation software ANSYS FLUENT. Finally, the simulated turbidity deposits are compared with the interpreted sedimentary bodies based on 3D seismic data and the potential provenances of the revealed turbidites by Well A are discussed in details. The simulation results indicate that a sedimentary body develops far away from its source with an average grain size of 0.1 mm, i.e., sand-size sediment. Taking into account the location and orientation of the simulated seismic line, the consistence between normal forward simulation results and the revealed cores in Well A indicates that the turbidites should have been transported from Vietnam instead of Hainan Island. This interpretation has also been verified by the planar maps of sedimentary systems based on integration of boreholes and seismic data. 3Numerical simulation on the evolution of sediment waves caused by turbidity currents显示文摘Interest in the forming mechanism of sediment waves increases recently because of its significance on submarine engineering, sedimentary dynamics and hydrocarbon reservoir prediction in deep water. In this paper, the time-averaged continuity equations and Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are applied in the numerical simulation of fluid dynamics. The modeling results are used to illuminate the effects of topography on turbidity current and explore the origin of submarine sediment waves. The research results show that (1) deposition occurs firstly at the lower ramp due to the deceleration of fluid, increase of density, loss of flow capacity and longer duration of flow passage; (2) density increase at the upslope due to the local jam results in velocity decrease and pressure increase; (3) sediment waves begin to be formed and migrated toward upstream in an area far away from the source with in- crease of the turbidity events; (4) deposition becomes more slowly with decrease of grain sizes, but the shape and sequences of these deposits are controlled by topography, not grain size.JIANG mao XIE XiNong TANG SuLin ZHANG Cheng DU XueBin 2007Chinese Science Bulletin2007,52,17:3
4Fine-tune chiroptical activity in discrete chiral Au nanorods显示文摘Accurate researches on the surface plasmon resonance(SPR)-based applications of chiral plasmonic metal nanoparticles(NPs)still remain a great challenge.Herein,a series of chiral plasmonic metal NPs,e.g.,chiral Au nanorods(c-Au NRs),c-Au@Ag core–shell,and c-Au@TiO_(2) core–shell NRs,with different chiroptical activities have been produced.Plasmonic circular dichroism(PCD)bands of c-Au NRs can be precisely tailored by tuning the longitudinal SPR(LSPR)and amount of Au NRs as seeds.Besides,a shift of PCD bands within ultraviolet–visible–near infrared ray(UV–vis–NIR)region can also be achieved through the functionalization of a shell of another metal or semiconductor.Interestingly,chirality transfer from c-Au core to Ag shell leads to new PCD bands at the near-UV region.The tuning of PCD bands and chirality transfer are confirmed by our developed theoretical model.Developing chiral Au NRs-based chiral plasmonic nanomaterials with tunable chiroptical activities will be helpful to understand the structure-direct PCD and to extend circularly polarized-based applications.Guangchao Zheng Sulin Jiao Wei Zhang Shenli Wang Qinghua Zhang Lin Gu Weixiang Ye Junjun Li Xiaochen Ren Zhicheng Zhang Kwok-yin Wong 2022Nano Research2022,15,7:2

16Drug target inference by mining transcriptional data using a novel graph convolutional network framework显示文摘A fundamental challenge that arises in biomedicine is the need to characterize compounds in a relevant cellular context in order to reveal potential on-target or offtarget effects.Recently,the fast accumulation of gene transcriptional profiling data provides us an unprecedented opportunity to explore the protein targets of chemical compounds from the perspective of cell transcriptomics and RNA biology.Here,we propose a novel Siamese spectral-based graph convolutional network(SSGCN)model for inferring the protein targets of chemical compounds from gene transcriptional profiles.Although the gene signature of a compound perturbation only provides indirect clues of the interacting targets,and the biological networks under different experiment conditions further complicate the situation,the SSGCN model was successfully trained to learn from known compound-target pairs by uncovering the hidden correlations between compound perturbation profiles and gene knockdown profiles.On a benchmark set and a large time-split validation dataset,the model achieved higher target inference accuracy as compared to previous methods such as Connectivity Map.Further experimental validations of prediction results highlight the practical usefulness of SSGCN in either inferring the interacting targets of compound,or reversely,in finding novel inhibitors of a given target of interest.Feisheng Zhong Xiaolong Wu Ruirui Yang Xutong Li Dingyan Wang Zunyun Fu Xiaohong Liu XiaoZhe Wan Tianbiao Yang Zisheng Fan Yinghui Zhang Xiaomin Luo Kaixian Chen Sulin Zhang Hualiang Jiang Mingyue Zheng 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,4:1
