| 1 | Precise nanomedicine for intelligent therapy of cancer显示文摘Precise nanomedicine has been extensively explored for efficient cancer imaging and targeted cancer therapy, as evidenced by a few breakthroughs in their preclinical and clinical explorations. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. | 2 | Single and joint stress of acetochlor and Pb on three agricultural crops in northeast China显示文摘In order to evaluate ecological risk of agrochemicals in agricultural environment,single and joint toxic effects of an importantherbicide and a typical heavy metal on root elongation of crops were investigated.Seeds of the three crops including wheat(Triticumaestivum),Chinese cabbage(Brassica pekimensis)and soybean(Glycine max)as the main crops in northeast China were exposed toacetochlor as a herbicide and lead(Pb)as a heavy metal using the pot-culture method,and meadow brown soil as one of the main soilsdistributed in northeast China was applied in the investigation.The results indicated that the interactive effects of the two pollutantson root elongation of the three crops were very complicated although they had markedly significant(P<0.01)linear interrelationshipsbased on the regression analyses.When the concentration of added Pb2+reached 200 mg/kg,acetochlor and Pb had an antagonisticeffect on the inhibition of root elongation of the three crops.However,acetochlor and Pb had significantly(P<0.05)synergic effects onthe inhibition of root elongation when concentration of added Pb2+was up to 1000 mg/kg.At the low concentration of added Pb,jointtoxicity of acetochlor and Pb was more dependent on the concentration of Pb.Among the three crops,wheat was the most sensitive tothe toxicity of Pb and Chinese cabbage was the most sensitive to the toxicity of acetochlor. | CHAO Lei ZHOU Qi-xing CHEN SU CUI Shuang WANG Mei-e | 2007 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2007,19,6: | 14 |
| 3 | Combined obeticholic acid and apoptosis inhibitor treatment alleviates liver fibrosis显示文摘Obeticholic acid(OCA), the first FXR-targeting drug, has been claimed effective in the therapy of liver fibrosis. However, recent clinical trials indicated that OCA might not be effective against liver fibrosis, possibly due to the lower dosage to reduce the incidence of the side-effect of pruritus. Here we propose a combinatory therapeutic strategy of OCA and apoptosis inhibitor for combating against liver fibrosis. CCl4-injured mice, D-galactosamine/LPS(GalN/LPS)-treated mice and cycloheximide/TNFα(CHX/TNFα)-treated HepG2 cells were employed to assess the effects of OCA, or together with IDN-6556, an apoptosis inhibitor. OCA treatment significantly inhibited hepatic stellate cell(HSC)activation/proliferation and prevented fibrosis. Elevated bile acid(BA) levels and hepatocyte apoptosis triggered the activation and proliferation of HSCs. OCA treatment reduced BA levels but could not inhibit hepatocellular apoptosis. An enhanced anti-fibrotic effect was observed when OCA was co-administrated with IDN-6556. Our study demonstrated that OCA inhibits HSCs activation/proliferation partially by regulating BA homeostasis and thereby inhibiting activation of HSCs. | 4 | Triptolide prolonged allogeneic islet graft survival in chemically induced and spontaneously diabetic mice without impairment of islet function显示文摘BACKGROUND:Triptolide(TPT)is a diterpenoid triepoxide extracted from the Chinese herb Tripterygium wilfordii Hook.F.It exhibits potent immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties.This study was undertaken to investigate its effects on prolongation of islet allograft survival in rodents.Additionally,we investigated whether TPT would be toxic to islet function in vivo.METHODS:We transplanted BALB/c islets to either chemically induced diabetic C57BL/6 mice or spontaneously diabetic nonobese diabetic(NOD)mice.TPT was injected within 2 weeks or continuously,until rejection,in the two combinations.Then, we evaluated the toxicity of TPT on islet function by daily injection to naive BALB/c or diabetic BALB/c that was cured by syngeneic islet transplantation under the kidney capsule.Mice injected with cyclosporine A(CsA)or vehicle served as controls.Intraperitoneal glucose tolerance tests(IPGTTs)performed at 4 and 8 weeks in the na?ve BALB/c group,and at 2,4,6,and 8 weeks in the syngeneic transplanted group.RESULTS:The medium survival time of islets allograft from TPT treated C57BL/6 and NOD recipients were 28.5 days(range 24-30 days,n=10)and 33.0 days(range 15-47 days,n=6), respectively,and they were significantly different from those of the vehicle treated controls,which were 14.0 days(range 13-16 days,n=6)and 5.0 days(range 4-10 days,n=6),respectively(all P<0.0001).The IPGTT demonstrated that there was no difference between the TPT treated and vehicle treated groups, either in the normal or syngeneic transplanted islet BALB/c mice.However,CsA injection impaired islet function in both normal and syngeneic transplanted mice as early as 4 weeks.CONCLUSION:TPT prolonged islets allograft survival in a chemically induced diabetic or an autoimmune diabetic murine model without impairment of islet function. | Xin, Ming-Jun Cui, Shi-Hua Liu, Shuang Sun, Hai-Chen Li, Fei Sun, Jia-Bang Luo, Bin | 2010 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2010,9,3: | 11 |
| 5 | Apatite Fission Track Evidence of Uplift Cooling in the Qiangtang Basin and Constraints on the Tibetan Plateau Uplift显示文摘The Qiangtang basin is located in the central Tibetan Plateau. This basin has an important structural position,and further study of its tectonic and thermal histories has great significance for understanding the evolution of the Tibetan Plateau and the hydrocarbon potential of marine carbonates in the basin. This study focuses on low temperature thermochronology and in particular conducted apatite fission track analysis. Under constraints provided by the geological background,the thermal history in different tectonic units is characterized by the degree of annealing of samples,and the timing of major(uplift-erosion related) cooling episodes is inferred. The cooling history in the Qiangtang basin can be divided into two distinct episodes. The first stage is mainly from the late Early Cretaceous to the Late Cretaceous(69.8 Ma to 108.7 Ma),while the second is mainly from the MiddleLate Eocene to the late Miocene(10.3 Ma to 44.4 Ma). The first cooling episode records the uplift of strata in the central Qiangtang basin caused by continued convergent extrusion after the BangongNujiang ocean closed. The second episode can be further divided into three periods,which are respectively 10.3 Ma,22.6–26.1 Ma and 30.8–44.4 Ma. The late Oligocene-early Miocene(22.6–26.1 Ma) is the main cooling period. The distribution and times of the earlier uplift-related cooling show that the effect of extrusion after the collision between Eurasian plate and India plate obviously influenced the Qiangtang basin at 44.4 Ma. The Qiangtang basin underwent compression and started to be uplifted from the middle-late Eocene to the early Oligocene(45.0–30.8 Ma). Subsequently,a large-scale and intensive uplift process occurred during the late Oligocene to early Miocene(26.1–22.6 Ma) and the basin continued to undergo compression and uplift up to the late Miocene(10.3 Ma). Thus,uplift-erosion in the Qiangtang basin was intensive from 44.5 Ma to about 10 Ma. The timing of cooling in the second episode shows that the uplift of the Qiangtang basin was caused by the strong compression after the collision of the Indian plate and Eurasian plate. On the whole,the new apatite fission-track data from the Qiangtang basin show that the Tibetan Plateau started to extrude and uplift during 45–30.8 Ma. | 10 | CIVB flashback analysis of hydrogen flame based on azimuthal vorticity at mixing zone exit显示文摘Swirl-premixed combustion systems exhibit potential to meet future regulations on pollution emissions. However, combustion induced vortex breakdown(CIVB) flashback is frequently observed in these systems, especially for high hydrogen content fuel. In this study, a swirl-premixed burner with diverging centerbody was used to investigate CIVB flashback based on azimuthal vorticity at mixing zone exit. Through 2D axisymmetric model, it was found that there was a maximal azimuthal vorticity at mixing zone exit for each equivalence ratio. The physical meaning of these maximal azimuthal vorticity values was the minimally required azimuthal vorticity to trigger CIVB flashback. At the same time, the required azimuthal vorticity declined with the increase of equivalence ratio since turbulent burning velocity started to control flashback. | 11 | Current understanding concerning intestinal stem cells显示文摘In mammals, the intestinal epithelium is a tissue that contains two distinct pools of stem cells: active intestinal stem cells and reserve intestinal stem cells. The former are located in the crypt basement membrane and are responsible for maintaining epithelial homeostasis under intact conditions, whereas the latter exhibit the capacity to facilitate epithelial regeneration after injury. These two pools of cells can convert into each other, maintaining their quantitative balance. In terms of the active intestinal stem cells, their development into functional epithelium is precisely controlled by the following signaling pathways: Wnt/β-catenin, Ras/Raf/Mek/Erk/MAPK, Notch and BMP/Smad. However, mutations in some of the key regulator genes associated with these signaling pathways, such as APC, Kras and Smad4, are also highly associated with gut malformations. At this point, clarifying the biological characteristics of intestinal stem cells will increase the feasibility of preventing or treating some intestinal diseases, such as colorectal cancer. | 17 | A Novel Parameter Estimation Algorithm for DSSS Signals Based on Compressed Sensing显示文摘A novel parameter estimation algorithm based on Compressed sensing(CS) for the Direct sequences spread spectrum(DSSS) signals in high dynamic environments is proposed. In this algorithm, Fractional Fourier transform(Fr FT) is first employed to estimate Doppler frequency rate, followed by the quadric phase term compensation. The compensation results are divided into several segments with equal length and coherent integration is carried out within each segment respectively. A convex optimization algorithm is applied to estimate the velocity and initial range of the target simultaneously based on the sparsity of target in the code phase domain. The proposed algorithm is capable of overcoming the limitation of Doppler frequency ambiguity and obtaining the accurate parameter estimates without correcting the code phase drift. | 18 | Research Progress on Nitrogen Use and Plant Growth显示文摘The application of nitrogen(N) fertilizers in agriculture has been increasing dramatically since 1970s. However, the over-fertilization causes could cause environmental problems, as well as low N use effi ciency(NUE). Promoting NUE in plants and minimizing the environmental impacts of N fertilizers had been the focus of the current research. We reviewed the importance of N, N metabolism and plant growth, plant N physiology and the molecular aspect of N metabolism in this paper. | 20 | Application of medial column classification in treatment of intraarticular calcaneal fractures显示文摘BACKGROUND There are many types of treatments for calcaneal fractures,including conservative treatment,conventional surgical treatment,and minimally invasive surgery.The choice of specific treatment options is still controversial.Open reduction and internal fixation are currently the most commonly used surgical procedures in the clinic.A good fracture reduction effect can be achieved by using the lateral extension incision of the calcaneus;however,many studies have reported a high incidence of postoperative incision complications.Although there are many methods for the classification of intra-articular calcaneal fractures,it is generally believed that the computed tomography(CT)classification proposed by Sanders has high application value in the selection of treatment methods and evaluation of prognosis of calcaneal fractures.However,this method has no clear guiding significance for the choice of surgical incision and surgical plan.AIM To explore the application and clinical efficacy of medial column classification in the treatment of intra-articular calcaneal fractures.METHODS From July 2017 to July 2018,91 patients,including 60 males and 31 females aged 27 to 60 years,were enrolled.All participants had closed intra-articular calcaneal fracture,and their surgical options were selected under the guidance of medial column classification.The patients'fractures were classified according to the Sanders classification:Type II,35 cases;Type III,33 cases;and Type IV,23 cases.Among them,53 patients had medial column displacement(shortened varus)and underwent open reduction and internal fixation with L-lateral incision of the calcaneus;38 patients had no displacement of the medial column and underwent open reduction and internal fixation with tarsal sinus incision.The calcaneus Bohler angle,Gissane angle,length,width,height,and step thickness of the articular surface were evaluated by X-ray and three-dimensional CT before and after surgery and at the last follow-up.Foot function recovery was assessed by the Maryland foot scoring criteria.RESULTS All patients were followed for 5 to 14 mo,with an average of 10.5±2.9 mo.The fractures of all patients healed,and the healing time was 10 to 19 wk,with an average of 10.8±1.5 wk.One patient developed wound infection 1 wk after surgery and was actively debrided and implanted with antibiotic calcium sulfate to control the infection.The patient's fracture healed 5 mo after surgery.One patient developed a sural nerve injury,and the symptoms disappeared 3 mo after surgery.The patients were assessed according to the Maryland foot scoring system:Excellent in 77 cases,good in 10,and fair in 4.The excellent and good rate was 95.6%.CONCLUSION Medial column classification can effectively guide the surgical selection for intraarticular fractures of the calcaneus. | Gang Zheng Fan Xia Shuang Yang Jun Cui | 2020 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,19: | 4 |
