1A successful mountain rescue operation in Yushu Earthquake显示文摘On April 14,2010,an earthquake reaching 7.1 Richter scale struck Jiegu Town of Yushu.More than 2 698 people were confirmed dead,and 12 135 were injured,of which 1 434 were severely injured.Rescue operation was carried out soon after the disaster;however,the rescue teams face great challenges of altitude hypoxia,freezing temperature and very bad weather.Thus,1 434 severe injuries were rapidly transported airlifted to hospitals in Xining and neighboring provinces for effective treatment.The extremity trauma (49.9 %) was the most common pattern of injuries.Asphyxia (40.8 %) was by far the most important reason for death.A high incidence of acute altitude illness in the lowland rescuers was a special medical problem during the highest earthquake in Yushu.We have learned more lessons from Yushu Earthquake.Wu Tianyi Li Suzhi Hou Shike Ouzhu Luobu 2012Engineering Sciences2012,10,1:15
2Ascent schedules,acute altitude illness,and altitude acclimatization:Observations on the Yushu Earthquake显示文摘During the Yushu Earthquake on April 14,2010,a large number of rescuers from sea level or lowlands ascended to the quake areas very rapidly or rapidly less than 24 h. However,Yushu Earthquake is the highest quake in the world at altitudes between 3 750 m and 4 878 m where is a serious hypoxic environment. A high incidence of acute altitude illness was found in the unacclimatized rescuers;the mountain rescue operation changed as 'rescue the rescuers'. Lesson from the Yushu Earthquake is that the occurrence of acute altitude illness may be closely related to the ascent schedules. This prompted us to study the relationship between ascent rate and the incidence and severity of acute altitude illness;five different groups were compared. The first group was 42 sea level male young soldiers who ascended to quake area very rapidly within 8 h at 4 000 m;the second group was 48 sea level male young soldiers who ascended to 4 000 m rapidly less than 18 h;the third group was 66 acclimatized medical workers from 2 261 m who ascended to 4 000 m rapidly within 12 h;the fourth group was 56 Tibetan medical workers from 2 800 m who ascended to 4 000 m rapidly within 8 h;the fifth group was 50 male sea level workers who ascended to 4 000 m gradually over a period of 4 d. The results showed that the sea level rescuers ascended to 4 000 m very rapidly or rapidly had the highest incidence of acute mountain sickness (AMS) with the greatest AMS scores and the lowest arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2);the sea level workers ascended to 4 000 m gradually had moderate incidence of AMS with moderate AMS scores and SaO2 values;whereas the acclimatized and adapted rescuers had the lowest incidence of AMS,lowest AMS scores and higher SaO2;especially none AMS occurred in Tibetan rescuers. AMS score is inversely related to the ascent rate (r=-0.24,p< 0.001). Additionally,acute altitude illness is significantly influenced by altitude acclimatization. The ascent rate is inversely re- lated to the period of altitude acclimatization whereas the time of perfect recovered from AMS is positively correlated to the time taken to acclimatize. Generally,the best means of preventing acute altitude illness is slow and gradual ascent to high altitude,as this allows time for establishing altitude acclimatization and tolerance to the hypoxic environment. 3Alpha B-crystallin improved survival of retinal ganglion cells in a rat model of acute ocular hypertension显示文摘Increased endogenous αB-crystallin protein levels have been shown to reduce cell apoptosis,although the effects of exogenous αB-crystallin protein remain poorly understood.The present study established an acute ocular hypertension model in the right eye of Sprague-Dawley rats.Fluorogold retrograde tracing and immunofluorescence methods showed that the number of retinal ganglion cells decreased in the right eyes and caspase-3 expression increased following acute ocular hypertension.Intravitreal injection of αB-crystallin in the right eye increased the number of retinal ganglion cells and reduced caspase-3 expression.Results demonstrated that exogenous αB-crystallin protein inhibited caspase-3 expression and improved retinal ganglion cell survival following acute ocular hypertension.Zhihong Wu Layi Wang Shike Hou 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,19:4
4A high-quality genome assembly of Morinda officinalis,a famous native southern herb in the Lingnan region of southern China显示文摘Morinda officinalis is a well-known medicinal and edible plant that is widely cultivated in the Lingnan region of southern China.Its dried roots(called bajitian in traditional Chinese medicine)are broadly used to treat various diseases,such as impotence and rheumatism.Here,we report a high-quality chromosome-scale genome assembly of M.officinalis using Nanopore single-molecule sequencing and Hi-C technology.The assembled genome size was 484.85Mb with a scaffold N50 of 40.97 Mb,and 90.77%of the assembled sequences were anchored on eleven pseudochromosomes.The genome includes 27,698 protein-coding genes,and most of the assemblies are repetitive sequences.Genome evolution analysis revealed that M.officinalis underwent core eudicotγgenome triplication events but no recent whole-genome duplication(WGD).Likewise,comparative genomic analysis showed no large-scale structural variation after species divergence between M.officinalis and Coffea canephora.Moreover,gene family analysis indicated that gene families associated with plant–pathogen interactions and sugar metabolism were significantly expanded in M.officinalis.Furthermore,we identified many candidate genes involved in the biosynthesis of major active components such as anthraquinones,iridoids and polysaccharides.In addition,we also found that the DHQS,GGPPS,TPS-Clin,TPS04,sacA,and UGDH gene families—which include the critical genes for active component biosynthesis—were expanded in M.officinalis.This study provides a valuable resource for understanding M.officinalis genome evolution and active component biosynthesis.This work will facilitate genetic improvement and molecular breeding of this commercially important plant.Jihua Wang Shiqiang Xu Yu Mei Shike Cai Yan Gu Minyang Sun Zhan Liang Yong Xiao Muqing Zhang Shaohai Yang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:4
5Gene expression dynamics during the gonocyte to spermatogonia transition and spermatogenesis in the domestic yak显示文摘Background:Spermatogenesis is a cellular differentiation process that includes three major events:mitosis of spermatogonia,meiosis of spermatocytes and spermiogenesis.Steady-state spermatogenesis relies on functions of spermatogonial stem cells(SSCs).Establishing and maintaining a foundational SSC pool is essential for continued spermatogenesis in mammals.Currently,our knowledge about SSC and spermatogenesis is severely limited in domestic animals.Results:In the present study,we examined transcriptomes of testes from domestic yaks at four different stages(3,5,8 and 24 months of age)and attempted to identify genes that are associated with key developmental events of spermatogenesis.Histological analyses showed that the most advanced germ cells within seminiferous tubules of testes from 3,5,8 and 24 months old yaks were gonocytes,spermatogonia,spermatocytes and elongated spermatids,respectively.RNA-sequencing(RNA-seq)analyses revealed that 11904,4381 and 2459 genes were differentially expressed during the gonocyte to spermatogonia transition,the mitosis to meiosis transition and the meiosis to post-meiosis transition.Further analyses identified a list of candidate genes than may regulate these important cellular processes.CXCR4,a previously identified SSC niche factor in mouse,was one of the up-regulated genes in the 5 months old yak testis.Results of immunohistochemical staining confirmed that CXCR4 was exclusively expressed in gonocytes and a subpopulation of spermatogonia in the yak testis.Conclusions:Together,these findings demonstrated histological changes of postnatal testis development in the domestic yak.During development of spermatogonial lineage,meiotic and haploid germ cells are supported by dynamic transcriptional regulation of gene expression.Our transcriptomic analyses provided a list of candidate genes that potentially play crucial roles in directing the establishment of SSC and spermatogenesis in yak.Guowen Wang Yongchang Li Qilin Yang Shangrong Xu Shike Ma Rongge Yan Ruina Zhang Gongxue Jia Deqiang Ai Qi’en Yang 2019Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2019,10,4:3
6Temperature Field Simulation and Experimental Study of Anti‑backlash Single‑Roller Enveloping Hourglass Worm Gear显示文摘In gear transmission,temperature rise has a non-negligible impact on the accuracy,noise and transmission efficiency.However,there is no relevant research on the temperature rise of the anti-backlash single-roller enveloping hourglass worm(ASEHW)gear.To solve this problem,based on tribology principle and Hertz contact theory,the thermal power calculation method of the ASEHW gear was proposed for the first time and thermal analysis was carried out by Ansys software.The bulk temperature of the ASEHW gear under four different rotating speed(300 r/min,600 r/min,900 r/min,1200 r/min)is calculated.The main factors causing temperature rise of the ASEHW gear are analyzed theoretically.Meanwhile,an experimental study is performed to verify the simulation results and validate the theory methods.The theory presented in this paper provides a solution for the thermal power calculation of ASEHW gear.This research provides a theoretical basis for further optimization of ASEHW gear.Shisong Wang Shike Wang Jie Wang Xingqiao Deng 2020Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2020,33,4:2
