| 1 | Levels of matrix metalloproteinase-1 and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase-1 in gastric cancer显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the levels of preoperative serum matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) in gastric cancer.METHODS:One hundred gastric cancer patients who underwent gastrectomy were enrolled in this study.The serum concentrations of MMP-1 and TIMP-1 in these patients and in fifty healthy controls were determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS:Higher serum MMP-1 and TIMP-1 levels were observed in patients than in controls (P < 0.001).Serum MMP-1 and TIMP-1 levels were positively associated with morphological appearance,tumor size,depth of wall invasion,lymph node metastasis,liver metastasis,perineural invasion,and pathological stage.They were not significantly associated with age,gender,tumor location,or histological type.CONCLUSION:Increased MMP-1 and TIMP-1 were associated with gastric cancer.Although these markers are not good markers for diagnosis,these markers show in advanced gastric cancer. | Ozgur Kemik Ahu Sarbay Kemik Aziz Sümer Ahmet Cumhur Dulger Mine Adas Huseyin Begenik Ismail Hasirci Ozkan Yilmaz Sevim Purisa Erol Kisli Sefa Tuzun Cetin Kotan | 2011 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2011，17，16： | 10 |
| 2 | Gallbladder function and dynamics of bile flow in asymptomatic gallstone disease显示文摘AIM:To investigate the effects of gallbladder stones on motor functions of the gallbladder and the dynamics of bile flow in asymptomatic gallstone disease.METHODS:Quantitative hepatobiliary scintigraphy was performed to detect the parameters of gallbladder motor function [gallbladder ejection fraction(GBEF),gallbladder visualization time(GBVT),gallbladder time to peak activity(GBTmax),gallbladder half emptying time(GBT1/2),and transit time of bile to duodenum(TTBD)] in 24 patients with asymptomatic cholelithiasis who were diagnosed incidentally during routine abdominal ultrasonographic examination and 20 healthy subjects with normal gallbladder.RESULTS:Even though there was no significant difference in the clinical and laboratory parameters between the patient and control groups,all parameters of gallbladder function except TTBD were found to differ significantly between the two groups.GBEF in the patient group was decreased(P=0.000) and GBVT,GBTmax,GBT1/2 in the patient group were longer(P=0.000,P=0.015,P=0.001,respectively).CONCLUSION:Our results showed that even if there were not any clinical and laboratory findings,gallbladder filling and emptying could be impaired in patients with gallstone disease. | Sevim Süreyya eri Feride Meltem zbek Celal eri Bahattin Baykal Hasan Erol Eroglu Zeynep Baykal Mustafa Yildiz Semahat Saglam Ahmet Yesildag | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009，15，22： | 8 |

| 4 | Seasonal variations of PM10 -- Trace elements, PAHs and Levoglucosan: Rural sugarcane growing area versus coastal urban area in Southeastern Florida, USA. Part II: Elemental concentrations显示文摘The largest sugarcane-growing area in the United States is in South Florida. An estimated 7 million tons of dry sugarcane leafy biomass is removed from the fields before harvest by burning the leaves off the sugarcane stalks. Preharvest sugarcane leaf foliage burning is a major source of airborne particulate matter (PM), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), biogenic trace elements such as K, volatile hydrocarbons and other pollutants. In one harvesting period, approximately 22 million tons of C02, a greenhouse gas, is released, 7 million tons from leaf foliage preharvest burning alone and 15 million tons from burning sugarcane bagasse in the sugar mills for power generation. In this study, PMio was collected from Belle Glade, close to the sugarcane-growing area, and from Delray Beach, an urbanized area along the East Coast of Florida. The PM samples were analyzed for trace elements and close to organic compounds. To elucidate the importance of preharvest sugarcane biomass smoke emissions on air quality, 39 trace elements, 18 PAHs, and levoglucosan were selected to apportion ambient PM constituents. Al, Ca and to a great extend also Mg are the major soil-related trace elements and key markers for fugitive soil dust emissions. Similarly, sea salt aerosol blown from the Atlantic Ocean into Florida added appreciably to PMio trace elements concentration, especially Na and Cl. Approximately half of the sea salt aerosol (PMjo -portion) by mass is removed from the atmosphere during the transport of ocean air from Delray Beach to Belle Glade. Ambient acid displacement reactions caused a substantial portion of the Cl (30%) to be liberated from the sea salt aerosol to the atmosphere during transport as gaseous HC1. The PAH concentrations at Belle Glade were high when the biomass combustion markers levoglucosan and I< also showed the highest concentrations. This indicates that during the sugarcane harvest season, when leaf foliage is burned off just before harvest, most of the ambient PAHs associated with PMio are indeed related to preharvest burning, harvesting machinery emissions, bagasse burning in sugarcane mills, and other related activities that consume biomass and/or fossil fuels for sugarcane harvesting and processing. | Orhan Sevim oglu Wolfgang F.
