| 1 | Defect-mediated reactivity of Pt/TiO2 catalysts:the different role of titanium and oxygen vacancies显示文摘Defects are ubiquitous in oxide supports and can often tune the catalytic property of supported metal catalysts.This work describes the distinct role of titanium and oxygen vacancies of TiO2 supports in the catalytic performance of supported Pt catalysts for CO oxidation.Pt was loaded on the TiO2 supports with oxygen vacancies(VO-TiO2)and titanium vacancies(VTiTiO2).It was found that different defects of TiO2 could distinctively modify the electron property of Pt and thereby CO adsorption strength.The strength of CO adsorption on Pt/VTi-TiO2 is enhanced,while that of Pt/VO-TiO2 becomes weaker.Additionally,the presence of defects would also promote the reducibility of catalysts.On the account of the superior redox ability,both Pt/VTi-TiO2 and Pt/VO-TiO2 exhibit a higher activity than Pt supported on normal TiO2 for CO oxidation. | Quan Xiao Yanan Wang Zhi-Jian Zhao Chunlei Pei Sai Chen Lijun Gao Rentao Mu Qiang Fu Jinlong Gong | 2020 | Science China Chemistry2020,63,9: | 4 |
| 2 | Reduced protein diet with near ideal amino acid profile improves energy efficiency and mitigate heat production associated with lactation in sows显示文摘Background:The study objective was to test the hypothesis that 1)lowering dietary crude protein(CP)increases dietary energetic efficiency and reduces metabolic heat associated with lactation,and 2)excessive dietary leucine(Leu)supplementation in a low CP diet decreases dietary energetic efficiency and increases metabolic heat associated with lactation.Methods:Fifty-four lactating multiparous Yorkshire sows were allotted to 1 of 3 isocaloric diets(10.80 MJ/kg net energy):1)control(CON;18.75%CP),2)reduced CP with a near ideal or optimal AA profile(OPT;13.75%CP)and 3)diet OPT with excessive Leu(OPTLEU;14.25%CP).Sow body weight and backfat were recorded on day 1 and 21 of lactation and piglets were weighed on day 1,4,8,14,18,and 21 of lactation.Energy balance was measured on sows during early(day 4 to 8)and peak(day 14 to18)lactation,and milk was sampled on day 8 and 18.Results:Over 21-day lactation,sows fed OPT lost body weight and body lipid(P<0.05).In peak lactation,sows fed OPT had higher milk energy output(P<0.05)than CON.Sows fed OPTLEU tended(P=0.07)to have less milk energy output than OPT and did not differ from CON.Maternal energy retention was lower(P<0.05)in OPT and OPTLEU compared to CON sows,and did not differ between OPTLEU and OPT sows.Sows fed OPT had higher(P<0.05)apparent energy efficiency for milk production compared to CON.Heat production associated with lactation was lower(P<0.05)or tended to be lower(P=0.082),respectively,in OPT and OPTLEU compared to CON sows.Conclusion:The OPT diet,in peak lactation,improved dietary energy utilization for lactation due to less urinary energy and metabolic heat loss,and triggered dietary energy deposition into milk at the expense of maternal lipid mobilization.Leucine supplementation above requirement may reduce dietary energy utilization for lactation by decreasing the energy partitioning towards milk,partially explaining the effectiveness of OPT diet over CON diets. | Sai Zhang Jay S.Johnson Mu Qiao Nathalie L.Trottier | 2020 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,2: | 3 |
| 3 | Tunable magneto-optical polarization device for terahertz waves based on InSb and its plasmonic structure显示文摘The nonreciprocal circular dichroism and Faraday rotation effect for terahertz(THz) waves in longitudinally magnetized InSb were investigated by theoretical and experimental studies in the THz regime, which indicated its ability for a THz circularly polarized isolator, THz circular polarizer, tunable polarization converter, and polarization modulator by manipulation of different magnetic fields. Furthermore, we demonstrated the InSb plasmonics based on its magneto-optical effects combined with artificial microstructure. We found the magnetooptical enhancement mechanisms in this magneto-plasmonic structure, achieving broadband near-perfect orthogonal linear polarization conversion modulated by the weak magnetic field in an experiment with an extinction ratio of 33 dB. Moreover, the magneto-optical modulation with an amplitude modulation depth of 95.8% can be achieved by this device under a weak magnetic field of 150 mT. | 4 | Uncovering electron scattering mechanisms in NiFeCoCrMn derived concentrated solid solution and high entropy alloys显示文摘Whilst it has long been known that disorder profoundly affects transport properties,recent measurements on a series of solid solution 3d-transition metal alloys reveal two orders of magnitude variations in the residual resistivity.Using ab initio methods,we demonstrate that,while the carrier density of all alloys is as high as in normal metals,the electron mean-free-path can vary from~10Å(strong scattering limit)to~103Å(weak scattering limit).Here,we delineate the underlying electron scattering mechanisms responsible for this disparate behavior.While site-diagonal,spin dependent,potential scattering is always dominant,for alloys containing only Fe,Co,and Ni the majority-spin channel experiences negligible disorder scattering,thereby providing a short circuit,while for Cr/Mn containing alloys both spin channels experience strong disorder scattering due to an electron filling effect.Somewhat surprisingly,other scattering mechanisms-including displacement,or size effect,scattering which has been shown to strongly correlate with such diverse properties as yield strength—are found to be relatively weak in most cases. | Sai Mu German D.Samolyuk Sebastian Wimmer Maria C.Troparevsky Suffian N.Khan Sergiy Mankovsky Hubert Ebert George M.Stocks | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019,,1: | 1 |
| 5 | First-principles calculations of hyperfine interaction,binding energy,and quadrupole coupling for shallow donors in silicon显示文摘Spin qubits based on shallow donors in silicon are a promising quantum information technology with enormous potential scalability due to the existence of robust silicon-processing infrastructure.However,the most accurate theories of donor electronic structure lack predictive power because of their reliance on empirical fitting parameters,while predictive ab initio methods have so far been lacking in accuracy due to size of the donor wavefunction compared to typical simulation cells.We show that density functional theory with hybrid and traditional functionals working in tandem can bridge this gap.Our first-principles approach allows remarkable accuracy in binding energies(67 meV for bismuth and 54 meV for arsenic)without the use of empirical fitting.We also obtain reasonable hyperfine parameters(1263 MHz for Bi and 133 MHz for As)and superhyperfine parameters.We demonstrate the importance of a predictive model by showing that hydrostatic strain has much larger effect on the hyperfine structure than predicted by effective mass theory,and by elucidating the underlying mechanisms through symmetry analysis of the shallow donor charge density. | Michael W.Swift Hartwin Peelaers Sai Mu John J.L.Morton Chris G.Van de Walle | 2020 | npj Computational Materials2020,,1: | 0 |

| 7 | Insomnia Burden among Informal Caregivers of Hospitalized Lung Cancer Patients and Its Influencing Factors显示文摘Objective This study aimed to reveal the insomnia burden and relevant influencing factors among informal caregivers(ICs)of hospitalized patients with lung cancer.Methods A cross-sectional study on ICs of hospitalized patients with lung cancer was conducted from December 31,2020 to December 31,2021.ICs’burden was assessed using the Caregiver Reaction Assessment(CRA),Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS),and Insomnia Severity Index(ISI).Linear and logistic regression models were used to identify the influencing factors.Results Among 289 ICs of hospitalized patients with lung cancer,83(28.72%),53(18.34%),and 14(4.84%)ICs experienced mild,moderate,and severe insomnia,respectively.The scores concerning self-esteem,lack of family support,financial problems,disturbed schedule,and health problems were 4.32±0.53,2.24±0.79,2.84±1.14,3.63±0.77,and 2.44±0.95,respectively.ICs with higher Activities of Daily Living Scale(ADLS)scores were associated with a lower risk of insomnia,with an odd ratio(OR)and 95%confidence interval(CI)of 0.940(0.898–0.983).Among the ICs,female gender(OR=2.597),alcohol consumption(OR=3.745),underlying medical conditions(OR=11.765),long-term caregiving experience(OR=37.037),and higher monthly expenses(OR=5.714)were associated with a high risk of insomnia.Conclusion Of the hospitalized patients with lung cancer,51.9%experienced insomnia.Patients’ADL,ICs gender,alcohol consumption,underlying medical conditions,caregiving duration,and monthly expenses were influencing factors.Therefore,prompt screening and early intervention for ICs of patients with lung cancer is necessary. | LI Chun Yan SONG Yu Jian ZHAO Lan DENG Mu Hong LI Rui Xin ZHANG Xiao Ling LI Qiong Xuan SHI Ying LUAN Heng Yu SUN Yuan Yuan HU Yi SAI Xiao Yong | 2023 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2023,36,8: | 0 |
