Progress in Global Gas Hydrate Development and Production as a New Energy Resource显示文摘Natural gas hydrates have been hailed as a new and promising unconventional alternative energy, especially as fossil fuels approach depletion, energy consumption soars, and fossil fuel prices rise, owing to their extensive distribution, abundance, and high fuel efficiency.Gas hydrate reservoirs are similar to a storage cupboard in the global carbon cycle, containing most of the world's methane and accounting for a third of Earth's mobile organic carbon. We investigated gas hydrate stability zone burial depths from the viewpoint of conditions associated with stable existence of gas hydrates, such as temperature, pressure, and heat flow, based on related data collected by the global drilling programs.Hydrate-related areas are estimated using various biological, geochemical and geophysical tools.Based on a series of previous investigations,we cover the history and status of gas hydrate exploration in the USA,Japan,South Korea,India,Germany, the polar areas, and China. Then,we review the current techniques for hydrate exploration in a global scale.Additionally,we briefly review existing techniques for recovering methane from gas hydrates, including thermal stimulation, depressurization, chemical injection, and CH4-CO2 exchange,as well as corresponding global field trials in Russia,Japan,United States,Canada and China. In particular, unlike diagenetic gas hydrates in coarse sandy sediments in Japan and gravel sediments in the United States and Canada, most gas hydrates in the northem South China Sea are non-diagenetic and exist in fine-grained sediments with a vein-like morphology. Therefore, especially in terms of the offshore production test in gas hydrate reservoirs in the Shenhu area in the north slope of the South China Sea,Chinese scientists have proposed two unprecedented techniques that have been verified during the field trials:solid fluidization and formation fluid extraction.Herein,we introduce the two production techniques,as well as the so-called'fbur-in-one'environmental monitoring system employed during the Shenhu production test.Methane is not currently commercially produced from gas hydrates anywhere in the world;therefore, the objective of field trials is to prove whether existing techniques could be applied as feasible and economic production methods for gas hydrates in deep-water sediments and permafrost zones. Before achieving commercial methane recovery from gas hydrates,it should be necessary to measure the geologic properties of gas hydrate reservoirs to optimize and improve existing production techniques.Herein,we propose horizontal wells, multilateral wells, and cluster wells improved by the vertical and in dividual wells applied during existing field trials. It is noteworthy that relatively pure gas hydrates occur in seafloor mounds, within near-surface sediments, and in gas migration conduits.Their extensive distribution, high saturation, and easy access mean that these types of gas hydrate may attract considerable attention from academia and industry in the future.Herein,we also review the occurrence and development of concentrated shallow hydrate accumulations and briefly introduce exploration and production techniques. In the closing section,we discuss future research needs, key issues, and major challenges related to gas hydrate exploration and production. We believe this review article provides insight on past, present, and future gas hydrate exploration and production to provide guidelines and stimulate new work into the field of gas hydrates.LIU Liping SUN Zhilei ZHANG Lei WU Nengyou Yichao Qin JIANG Zuzhou GENG Wei CAO Hong ZHANG Xilin ZHAI Bin XU Cuiling SHEN Zhicong JIA Yonggang 2019Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,3:13
Rare-earth element geochemistry reveals the provenance of sediments on the southwestern margin of the Challenger Deep显示文摘The hadal zone represents one of the last great frontiers in modern marine science, and deciphering the provenance of sediment that is supplied to these trench settings remains a largely unanswered question. Here,we examine the mineralogical and geochemical composition of a sediment core(core CD-1)that was recovered from the southwestern margin of the Challenger Deep within the Mariana Trench.Major element abundances and rare-earth element patterns from these sediments require inputs from both terrigenous dust and locally sourced volcanic debris. We exploit a two-endmember mixing model to demonstrate that locally sourced volcanic material dominates the sediment supply to the Challenger Deep(averaging^72%).The remainder, however,is supplied by aeolian dust(averaging^28%),which is consistent with adjacent studies that utilized Sr-Nd isotopic data.Building on a growing database,we strengthen our understanding of Asian aeolian dust input into the northwestern Pacific, which ultimately improves our appreciation of sedimentation in,and around, the hadal zone.JIANG Zuzhou SUN Zhilei LIU Zhaoqing CAO Hong GENG Wei XU Haixia WANG Lisheng WANG Libo 2019Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2019,37,3:5
Dissecting human embryonic skeletal stem cell ontogeny by single-cell transcriptomic and functional analyses显示文摘Human skeletal stem cells(SSCs)have been discovered in fetal and adult long bones. However, the spatiotemporal ontogeny of human embryonic SSCs during early skeletogenesis remains elusive. Here we map the transcriptional landscape of human limb buds and embryonic long bones at single-cell resolution to address this fundamental question. We found remarkable heterogeneity within human limb bud mesenchyme and epithelium, and aligned them along the proximal-distal and anterior-posterior axes using known marker genes.Osteo-chondrogenic progenitors first appeared in the core limb bud mesenchyme, which give rise to multiple populations of stem/progenitor cells in embryonic long bones undergoing endochondral ossification.Importantly,a perichondrial embryonic skeletal stem/progenitor cell(eSSPC)subset was identified, which could self-renew and generate the osteochondral lineage cells, but not adipocytes or hematopoietic stroma.eSSPCs are marked by the adhesion molecule CADM1 and highly enriched with FOXP1/2 transcriptional network.Interestingly, neural crest-derived cells with similar phenotypic markers and transcriptional networks were also found in the sagittal suture of human embryonic calvaria.Taken together, this study revealed the cellular heterogeneity and lineage hierarchy during human embryonic skeletogenesis, and identified distinct skeletal stem/progenitor cells that orchestrate endochondral and intramembranous ossification.Jian He Jing Yan Jianfang Wang Liangyu Zhao Qian Xin Yang Zeng Yuxi Sun Han Zhang Zhijie Bai Zongcheng Li Yanli Ni Yandong Gong Yunqiao Li Han He Zhilei Bian Yu Lan Chunyu Ma Lihong Bian Heng Zhu Bing Liu Rui Yue 2021Cell Research2021,31,7:5
Growth model of a hydrothermal low-temperature Si-rich chimney:Example from the CDE hydrothermal field,Lau Basin显示文摘The CDE hydrothermal field was first discovered during a Chinese cruise to the East Lau Basin Spreading Centre in 2007.Apart from significant amounts of loose Fe-Si-Mn(oxyhydr) oxide(referred to as oxide below) precipitates,a small Si-rich oxide chimney was also recovered on this cruise. In this study,we report on the mineralogical and geochemical analyses of this chimney and a model for its growth that has been developed.Based on the mineralogy and O isotope results, the chimney walls can be divided into four growth generations(layers) from the inner to the outer layers:amorphous opal and barite layer(precipitation temperature 68.5°C based on oxygen isotope determinations),a rod-like amorphous layer(precipitation temperature 39.6°C),a filamentous Fe-Si oxide layer, and an outer Fe-Mn oxide layer.Investigations based on SEM and EDS showed that neutrophilic Fe-oxidizing bacteria play an important role in the formation of this chimney, particularly in the outer two generations. In the first stage, the metabolic activity of the microbes results in the pervasive precipitation of the filamentous Fe-rich oxides inside a ring formed by some amorphous opal and barite;therefore,a loose porous layer forms. In the second stage, amorphous opal then precipitates inside this wall as a result of conductive cooling and gradually controls the mixing between the hydrothermal fluids and ambient seawaters. In the third stage, barite and some amorphous opal form from the higher temperature fluids at the summit of the chimney growth history. In the last stage, the chimney wall becomes thicker and denser and the exchange of hydrothermal fluids and seawater ceases. As a result,a Fe-Mn oxide layer precipitates onto the outer surface of the chimney wall as neutrophilic Fe-oxidizing bacteria reoccupy the surface of the chimney. This mineral sequence and the resultant growth generations are confirmed by the chemical characteristics of the chimney wall.Sr isotopes extracted from the Fe oxides of the four-generation wall generally show a decreasing trend of the 87 Sr/86 Sr ratios from the second layer to the inner layer(from 0.707008 to 0.705877) except for the outer layer(0.706502).The Sr isotope and chondrite normalized REE patterns of the corresponding bulk samples from the chimney wall also display a similar trend. Our study shows that the biogenic filament network plays a key role in the formation of the chimney in contrast to previous growth models of higher temperature chimneys, which often ignore the influence of biogenic factors.SUN ZhiLei ZHOU HuaiYang YANG QunHui YIN XiJie WANG Hu YAO HuiQiang DONG CongFang 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,10:4

Research Progress of Seafloor Pockmarks in Spatio-Temporal Distribution and Classification显示文摘Seafloor pockmarks are important indicators of submarine methane seepages and slope instabilities. In order to promote the understanding of submarine pockmarks and their relationship with sediment instabilities and climate changes, here we summarize the research results of pockmarks in the spatio-temporal distributions and shaping factors. Most of pockmarks occur along active or passive continental margins during the last 25 kyr B.P..Circular and ellipse are the most common forms of pockmarks, whereas pockmarks in a special crescent or elongated shape are indicators of slope instabilities, and ring-shape pockmarks are endemic to the gas hydrate zones.Further researches should be focused on the trigger mechanism of climate changes based on the pockmarks in the high latitudes formed during the deglaciation periods, and the role of gas hydrates in the seafloor evolution should be elucidated. In addition, the feature of pockmarks at their early stage(e.g.,developing gas chimneys and gas driving sedimentary doming)and the relations between pockmarks and mass movements, mud diapirs could be further studied to clarify the influences of rapid methane release from submarine sediments on the atmospheric carbon contents.XU Cuiling XU Guoqiang XING Junhui SUN Zhilei WU Nengyou 2020Journal of Ocean University of China2020,19,1:1

Research on motor rotation anomaly detection based on improved VMD algorithm显示文摘Purpose–The electromechanical brake system is leading the latest development trend in railway braking technology. The tolerance stack-up generated during the assembly and production process catalyzes the slight geometric dimensioning and tolerancing between the motor stator and rotor inside the electromechanical cylinder. The tolerance leads to imprecise brake control,so it is necessary to diagnose the fault of the motor in the fully assembled electromechanical brake system. This paper aims to present improved variational mode decomposition(VMD)algorithm, which endeavors to elucidate and push the boundaries of mechanical synchronicity problems within the realm of the electromechanical brake system.Design/methodology/approach–The VMD algorithm plays a pivotal role in the preliminary phase, employing mode decomposition techniques to decompose the motor speed signals.Afterward, the error energy algorithm precision is utilized to extract abnormal features, leveraging the practical intrinsic mode functions, eliminating extraneous noise and enhancing the signal’s fidelity. This refined signal then becomes the basis for fault analysis. In the analytical step, the cepstrum is employed to calculate the formant and envelope of the reconstructed signal.By scrutinizing the formant and envelope, the fault point within the electromechanical brake system is precisely identified, contributing to a sophisticated and accurate fault diagnosis.Findings–This paper innovatively uses the VMD algorithm for the modal decomposition of electromechanical brake(EMB)motor speed signals and combines it with the error energy algorithm to achieve abnormal feature extraction. The signal is reconstructed according to the effective intrinsic mode functions(IMFS)component of removing noise, and the formant and envelope are calculated by cepstrum to locate the fault point.Experiments show that the empirical mode decomposition(EMD)algorithm can effectively decompose the original speed signal. After feature extraction, signal enhancement and fault identification, the motor mechanical fault point can be accurately located. This fault diagnosis method is an effective fault diagnosis algorithm suitable for EMB systems.Originality/value–By using this improved VMD algorithm, the electromechanical brake system can precisely identify the rotational anomaly of the motor. This method can offer an online diagnosis analysis function during operation and contribute to an automated factory inspection strategy while parts are assembled.Compared with the conventional motor diagnosis method, this improved VMD algorithm can eliminate the need for additional acceleration sensors and save hardware costs. Moreover, the accumulation of online detection functions helps improve the reliability of train electromechanical braking systems.Fuzhao Chen Zhilei Chen Qian Chen Tianyang Gao Mingyan Dai Xiang Zhang Lin Sun 2024Railway Sciences2024,3,1:0
Functional Recovery with Electro-Acupuncture Stimulation in an Mecp2-Knockout Rat Model of Rett Syndrome显示文摘Rett syndrome is a progressive neurodevelopmental disorder that lacks effective treatments.Although deep-brain stimulation can alleviate some symptoms in Rett model mice, this interventional manipula-tion requires deliberate surgical operations. Here,we report that electro-acupuncture stimulation(EAS)can ameliorate symptoms of an Mecp2-knockout rat model of Rett syndrome from the remote acupoints Baihui(GV 20),Yongquan(KI 1),and Shenmen(HT 7).We find that EAS not only prolongs the survival time of Rett rats, but also improves their behavior ability, including locomotion, motor coordination, and social interaction.Neural activation was observed in the substantia nigra of the midbrain, corpus striatum, and cerebral cortex of wild-type and Rett model rats,as reflected by the increased expression of the c-Fos protein.Hence,EAS provides a potential promising therapeutic tool for treating neurodevel-opmental diseases.Yanhong Sun Zhifang Chen Yi Xu Yuefang Zhang Zhilei Ge Chenglie Lin Yi Zhou Fangfei Zhao Meiling Yan Xinyi Liu Ying Zhu Jimin Gao Hongyi Li Lihua Wang Jun Hu Zilong Qiu Chunhai Fan 2022Engineering2022,8,5:0
Continuous SiC skeleton reinforced highly oriented graphite flake composites with high strength and specific thermal conductivity显示文摘Highly oriented graphite-based composites have attracted great attention because of their high thermal conductivity(TC),but the low mechanical properties caused by the inhomogeneous distribution and discontinuity of reinforcements restrict the wide applications.Herein, continuous SiC ceramic skeleton reinforced highly oriented graphite flake(SiC/GF)composites were successfully prepared by combining vacuum filtration and spark plasma sintering. The effect of SiC concentration on the microstructure, flexural strength, and thermophysical properties of the composites was investigated. The GF grains in the composites exhibited high orientation with a Lotgering factor of>88%when the SiC concentration was≤30 wt%,and the SiC skeleton became continuous with the SiC concentration reaching 20 wt%.The formation of continuous SiC skeleton improved the flexural strength of the composites effectively while keeping the TC in a high level.Especially, the composites with 30 wt%SiC exhibited the flexural strength up to 105 MPa,and the specific TC reaching 0.118 W·m^(2)·K^(−1)·kg-1.The composites with excellent flexural strength and thermophysical properties showed significant promise for thermal management applications.Xiaoyu ZHANG Wenqi XIE Lan SUN Zhilei WEI Zhejian ZHANG Yuanyuan ZHU Jiabin HU Shenghe WANG Zhongqi SHI 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,3:0
Micro/nano structured oleophobic agent improving the wellbore stability of shale gas wells显示文摘Through embedding modified nano-silica particles on the surface of polystyrene using the method of Pickering emulsion polymerization,a kind of nano/micro oleophobic agent named OL-1 was developed. The effects of OL-1 on the rock surface properties and its performance in inhibiting the oil phase imbibition into the rock were explored. The performance and mechanisms of OL-1 in improving the wellbore stability of shale gas wells were evaluated and analyzed.OL-1 could absorb on the surface of the shale core to form a membrane with a micro-nano two-stage roughness, making the surface energy of the core decrease to 0.13 mN/m and the contact angle of the white oil on the core surface increase from 16.39°to 153.03°.Compared with the untreated capillary tube, when immersed into 3#white oil,the capillary tube treated by OL-1 had a reversal of capillary pressure from 273.76 Pa to-297.71 Pa,and the oil imbibition height inside the capillary tube decreased from 31 mm above the external liquid level to 33 mm below the external liquid level. The amount of oil invading into the rock core modified by OL-1 decreased by 64.29%compared with the untreated one.The shale core immersed into the oil-based drilling fluids with 1%OL-1 had a porosity reduction rate of only 4.5%.Compared with the core immersed in the drilling fluids without OL-1,the inherent force of the core treated by 1%OL-1 increased by 24.9%,demonstrating that OL-1 could effectively improve the rock mechanical stability by inhibiting oil phase imbibition.GENG Yuan SUN Jinsheng CHENG Rongchao QU Yuanzhi ZHANG Zhilei WANG Jianhua WANG Ren YAN Zhiyuan REN Han WANG Jianlong 2022Petroleum Exploration and Development2022,49,6:0
Pore-water geochemistry in methane-seep sediments of the Makran accretionary wedge off Pakistan:Possible link to subsurface methane hydrate显示文摘Cold seeps are pervasive along the continental margin worldwide, and are recognized as hotspots for elemental cycling pathway on Earth. In this study, analyses of pore water geochemical compositions of one-400 cm piston core(S3)and the application of a mass balance model are conducted to assess methane-associated biogeochemical reactions and uncover the relationship of methane in shallow sediment with gas hydrate reservoir at the Makran accretionary wedge off Pakistan. The results revealed that approximately 77%of sulfate is consumed by the predominant biogeochemical process of anaerobic oxidation of methane. However, the estimated sulfate-methane interface depth is-400 cm below sea floor with the methane diffusive flux of 0.039 mol/(m^(2)·a),suggesting the activity of methane seepage.Based on the δ^(13)C_(DIC) mass balance model combined with the contribution proportion of different dissolved inorganic carbon sources, this study calculated the δ^(13)C of the exogenous methane to be-57.9‰,indicating that the exogenous methane may be a mixture source, including thermogenic and biogenic methane. The study of pore water geochemistry at Makran accretionary wedge off Pakistan may have considerable implications for understanding the specific details on the dynamics of methane in cold seeps and provide important evidence for the potential occurrence of subsurface gas hydrate in this area.Xianrong Zhang Jianming Gong Zhilei Sun Jing Liao Bin Zhai Libo Wang Xilin Zhang Cuiling Xu Wei Geng 2021Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,9:0
