1Evaluating the Accuracy of ERA5 Wave Reanalysis in the Water Around China显示文摘Wave parameters, such as wave height and wave period, are important for human activities, such as navigation, ocean engineering and sediment transport, etc. In this study, wave data from six buoys around Chinese waters, are used to assess the quality of wave height and wave period in the ERA5 reanalysis of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. Annual hourly data with temporal resolution are used. The difference between the significant wave height(SWH) of ERA 5 and that of the buoy varies from-0.35 m to 0.30 m for the three shallow locations;for the three deep locations, the variation ranges from-0.09 m to 0.09 m. The ERA5 SWH data show positive biases, indicating an overall overestimation for all locations, except for E2 and S1 where underestimation is observed. During the tropical cyclone period, a large(about 32%) underestimation of the maximum SWH in the ERA5 data is observed. Hence, the ERA5 SWH data cannot be used for design applications without site-specific validation. The difference between the annual wave period from ERA5 and the mean wave period from the buoys varies from-1.31 s to 0.4 s. Inter-comparisons suggest that the ERA5 dataset is consistent with the annual mean SWH. However, for the average period, the performance is not good, and half of the correlation coefficients in the four points are less 50%. Overall, the deep water area simulation effect is better than that in the shallow water.SHI Hongyuan CAO Xuefeng LI Qingjie LI Delei SUN Jiacheng YOU Zaijin SUN Qingying 2021Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,1:5
2Variation of Yellow River Runoff and Its Influence on Salinity in Laizhou Bay显示文摘Salinity in estuaries has an important influence on sediment deposition, delta formation, and fishery economy. The change of runoff in Yellow River(YR),which is the largest river along the Bohai Sea,has an important effect on the salinity of the sea, particularly in Laizhou Bay.In this study, measured runoff data in Lijin hydrological station from 1950 to 2018 are adopted to examine the change of YR runoff into the sea.The study concludes that the runoff of YR is distributed unevenly throughout the year and the amount of runoff mainly concentrates during the flood season. Results show a decreasing trend at a significant level ofα=0.95,with a range of−6.17×10^9 m^3 yr−1.Three groups of runoff are set by using the Finite-Volume Coastal Ocean Model numerical model to analyze the change of salinity in Laizhou Bay.These modeled effects were compared with water level observations made by Bayuquan,Tanggu, and Penglai gauge stations and salinity surveys conducted by Longkou gauge station.Model results and observations of salinity distributions and coastal water level showed good agreement. We can conclude that the distribution of salinity in Laizhou Bay is high in the east and low in the west.Furthermore,it responded quickly to the change of the runoff from YR.Under conditions of high river discharge, the low-salinity zone increased in horizontal direction and reached the bottom in vertical direction.SHI Hongyuan LI Qingjie SUN Jiacheng GAO Guandong SUI Yi QIAO Shouwen YOU Zaijin 2020Journal of Ocean University of China2020,19,6:3
3Contact parameter analysis and calibration in discrete element simulation of rice straw显示文摘Discrete element method was used to study and analyze the interaction between rice straws and between rice straw and agricultural machinery parts, thereby providing a scientific basis for post-harvest paddy field processing.Calibrations of rice straw-rice straw, rice straw-agricultural machinery part contact parameters(collision recovery coefficient, static friction coefficient and rolling friction coefficient)constitute an important prerequisite for the discrete element research process. In this study, the collision recovery coefficients of rice straw-steel and rice straw-rice straw were 0.230 and 0.357,respectively,which were calibrated by the collision method. The static friction coefficient and rolling friction coefficient of rice straw-steel were 0.363 and 0.208 respectively, which were calibrated by the inclined plate method and the slope method. The static friction coefficient and rolling friction coefficient of rice straw-rice straw were 0.44 and 0.07,respectively,which were calibrated by the split cylinder method. The paired t-test showed insignificant differences between calibration parameter simulation results and the physical test values(p>0.05).Taking the angle of repose that reflecting rice straw flow and friction characteristics as the evaluation index, the verification tests of the above calibration values indicated that the simulated angle of repose has no significant difference from the physical test value(p>0.05).The side plate lifting test on rice straw of different lengths showed no significant difference between the simulated angle of repose and the physical test value(p>0.05).This study can provide a basis for contact parameters choice in discrete element simulation analysis with rice straw-rice straw and rice straw-agricultural machinery parts as the research object. The calibration method can provide a reference for the contact parameter calibration of other crop straws.Honglei Jia Jiayu Deng Yanling Deng Tianyou Chen Gang Wang Zaijin Sun Hui Guo 2021International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2021,14,4:2
4Distribution Assessment and Source Identification Using Multivariate Statistical Analyses and Artificial Neutral Networks for Trace Elements in Agricultural Soils in Xinzhou of Shanxi Province, China显示文摘Multivariate statistical analyses were used to assess the contents and distributions of trace elements in agricultural soils in Xinzhou of Shanxi Province, China, and to identify their sources. Samples with high levels of trace elements were concentrated in eastern Xinzhou, with contents declining from the east to west. Principal component and redundancy analyses revealed strong correlations among Co, Cu, Mn, Ni, Se, V, and Zn contents, suggesting that these elements were derived from similar parent materials. There were also strong correlations between the contents of these elements and soil properties. Contents of Cd and Pb were significantly higher in the agricultural soil samples than in the background soil samples(P < 0.05), and were higher in areas with higher levels of gross domestic product but decreased with distance to the nearest road. Therefore, human activities appear to have a strong influence on the Cd and Pb distribution patterns. A novel artificial neural network(ANN) model, using environmental input data, was used to predict the soil Cd and Pb contents of specified test dates. The performances of the ANN model and a traditional multilinear model were compared. The ANN model could successfully predict Cd and Pb content distributions, projecting that soil Cd and Pb contents will increase by 128% and 25%, respectively, by 2020. The results thus indicated that the economic condition of an area has a greater effect on trace element contents and distributions in the soil than the scale of the economy itself.SHANGGUAN Yuxian CHENG Bin ZHAO Long HOU Hong MA Jin SUN Zaijin XU Yafei ZHAO Ruifen ZHANG Yigong HUA Xiaozan HUO Xiaolan ZHAO Xiufeng 2018Pedosphere2018,28,3:1
