1Sediment fingerprinting in fluvial systems:review of tracers,sediment sources and mixing models显示文摘Suspended sediments in fluvial systems originate from a myriad of diffuse and point sources,with the relative contribution from each source varying over time and space.The process of sediment fingerprinting focuses on developing methods that enable discrete sediment sources to be identified from a composite sample of suspended material.This review identifies existing methodological steps for sediment fingerprinting including fluvial and source sampling,and critically compares biogeochcmical and physical tracers used in fingerprinting studies.Implications of applying different mixing models to the same source data are explored using data from 41 catchments across Europe,Africa,Australia,Asia,and North and South America.The application of seven commonly used mixing models to two case studies from the US(North Fork Broad River watershed) and France(BIcone watershed) with local and global(genetic algorithm) optimization methods identified all outputs remained in the acceptable range of error defined by the original authors.We propose future sediment fingerprinting studies use models that combine the best explanatory parameters provided by the modified Collins(using correction factors) and Hughes(relying on iterations involving all data,and not only their mean values) models with optimization using genetic algorithms to best predict the relative contribution of sediment sources to fluvial systems.Arman HADDADCHI Darren S.RYDER Olivier EVRARD Jon OLLEY 2013International Journal of Sediment Research2013,28,4:14

4Anodic dissolution of metals in ionic liquids显示文摘The anodic dissolution of metals is an important topic for battery design,material finishing and metal digestion.Ionic liquids are being used in all of these areas but the research on the anodic dissolution is relatively few in these media.This study investigates the behaviour of 9 metals in an ionic liquid [C_4mim][Cl] and a deep eutectic solvent,Ethaline,which is a 1:2 mol ratio mixture of choline chloride and ethylene glycol.It is shown that for the majority of metals studied a quasi-passivation of the metal surface occurs,primarily due to the formation of insoluble films on the electrode surface.The behaviour of most metals is different in [C_4mim][Cl] to that in Ethaline due in part to the differences in viscosity.The formation of passivating salt films can be decreased with stirring or by increasing the electrolyte temperature,thereby increasing ligand transport to the electrode surface.Andrew P.Abbott Gero Frisch Jennifer Hartley Wrya O.Karim Karl S.Ryder 2015Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2015,25,6:2
