1Anticancer and Antimicrobial Activity of Aspergillus protuberus SP1 Isolated from Marine Sediments of South Indian Coast显示文摘AIM:To explore the antimicrobial and anticancer activity of the fungi isolated from marine sediments of south India coastal belt.METHODS:Marine sediments were collected from different coastal locations of Kanyakumari District,South India.Aseptically collected marine sediment samples were serially diluted and cultured using SDA media with seawater under appropriate culture conditions.Antimicrobial activity was confirmed by crowded plate techniques.Antimicrobial activity of marine fungi isolate was evaluated against six human pathogenic bacteria viz.,Enterobacter aerogenes.,Escherichia coli,Proteus mirabilis,Bacillus subtilis,Staphylococcus aureus,and Klebsiella pneumoniae.,with different solvents like n-butanol,chloroform,water and acetone.Anticancer activity of the selective fungal extracts was tested against Hep 2 cells using MTT assay.RESULTS:Fungus isolated from Muttom coast of south India showed activity against human pathogens.The fungi isolate Aspergillus protuberus SP1 was identified by partial sequence of large subunit ribosomal RNA(GenBank accession No.:HQ 386016).Different polar and non-polar solvent extracts of the marine-derived fungus isolate showed antibacterial activity towards various Gram-positive and Gram-negative human pathogens.The n-butanol extract of mycelium showed maximum inhibition.Based on antibacterial activity,the n-butanol extract was selected for anticancer test against Hep 2 cell line.The n-butanol extract was subjected to column chromatographic separation using different solvent compositions with ethanol:methanol(9:1) giving better sepeartion.The fraction was analyzed by GC-MS study showing the presence of nine compounds.CONCLUSION:These results are useful for further investigation of the fungus in the future.S.Mathan A.Anton Smith J.Kumaran S.Prakash 2011中国天然药物2011,9,4:6
2In vitro cytotoxicity and antimicrobial activity of Talaromyces flavus SP5 inhabited in the marine sediment of Southern Coast of India显示文摘Marine sediment samples were collected from the coastal areas of Southern India, particularly in Kanyakumari District. Twenty-eight different fungal strains were isolated. The screening of fungi from marine sediment was done to isolate a potent fungus that can produce bioactive compounds for biomedical applications. Only three strains viz Trichoderma gamsii SP4, Talaromyces flavus SP5 and Aspergillus oryzae SP6 were screened for further studies. The intracellular bioactive compounds were extracted using solvent extraction method. The crude extracts were tested for its anti-microbial and anti-cancer properties and analytically characterized using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry(GC-MS). All the three extracts were active, but the extract from T. flavus SP5 was found to be more active against various human pathogens, viz., Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853(17.8 ± 0.1), Escherichia coli ATCC 52922(18.3 ± 0.3), and Candida tropicalis ATCC 750(17.7 ± 0.4). It also exhibited cytotoxic activity against HEp2 carcinoma cell line with the LC_(50) value of 25.7 μg·mL^(-1). The GC-MS data revealed the presence of effective bioactive compounds. These results revealed that the extract from isolated fungus T. flavus SP5 acted as a potent antimicrobial, antifungal, and anticancer agent, providing basic information on the potency of marine fungi towards biomedical applications; further investigation may lead to the development of novel anticancer drugs.Bibin G.Anand C.K.Navin Thomas S.Prakash 2016Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2016,14,12:4

6Hot Corrosion Behavior of Friction Welded AISI 4140 and AISI 304 in K_2SO-60% NaCl Mixture显示文摘Understanding the behavior of weldment at elevated temperatures and especially the corrosion behavior has become an object of scientific investigation recently.Investigation has been carried out on friction welded AISI 4140 and AISI 304 in molten salt of K 2 SO 4-60% NaCl environment at 550,600 and 650 C under cyclic condition.The resulted oxide scales in the weldment have been characterized systematically by surface analytical techniques.From the results of the experiments,it is observed that the scale thickness on low alloy steel side was higher than that on stainless steel side.Furthermore,weld interface has been found to be more susceptible to degradation than base metals due to inter diffusion of element across the interface and the formation of intermetallic compound.The influences of welding parameters and the temperature of exposure on the hot corrosion behavior of the weldment were discussed in this paper.N.Arivazhagan K.Senthilkumaran S.Narayanan K.Devendranath Ramkumar S.Surendra S.Prakash 2012Journal of Materials Science & Technology2012,28,10:0
7Hybrid GLFIL Enhancement and Encoder Animal Migration Classification for Breast Cancer Detection显示文摘Breast cancer has become the second leading cause of death among women worldwide.In India,a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every four minutes.There has been no known basis behind it,and detection is extremely challenging among medical scientists and researchers due to unknown reasons.In India,the ratio of women being identified with breast cancer in urban areas is 22:1.Symptoms for this disease are micro calcification,lumps,and masses in mammogram images.These sources are mostly used for early detection.Digital mammography is used for breast cancer detection.In this study,we introduce a new hybrid wavelet filter for accurate image enhancement.The main objective of enhancement is to produce quality images for detecting cancer sections in images.Image enhancement is the main step where the quality of the input image is improved to detect cancer masses.In this study,we use a combination of two filters,namely,Gabor and Legendre.The edges are detected using the Canny detector to smoothen the images.High-quality enhanced image is obtained through the Gabor-Legendre filter(GLFIL)process.Further image is used by classification algorithm.Animal migration optimization with neural network is implemented for classifying the image.The output is compared to existing filter techniques.Ultimately,the accuracy achieved by the proposed technique is 98%,which is higher than existing algorithms.S.Prakash M.Vinoth Kumar R.Saravana Ram Miodrag Zivkovic Nebojsa Bacanin Milos Antonijevic 2022Computer Systems Science & Engineering2022,41,5:0
8Ensemble Nonlinear Support Vector Machine Approach for Predicting Chronic Kidney Diseases显示文摘Urban living in large modern cities exerts considerable adverse effectson health and thus increases the risk of contracting several chronic kidney diseases (CKD). The prediction of CKDs has become a major task in urbanizedcountries. The primary objective of this work is to introduce and develop predictive analytics for predicting CKDs. However, prediction of huge samples isbecoming increasingly difficult. Meanwhile, MapReduce provides a feasible framework for programming predictive algorithms with map and reduce functions.The relatively simple programming interface helps solve problems in the scalability and efficiency of predictive learning algorithms. In the proposed work, theiterative weighted map reduce framework is introduced for the effective management of large dataset samples. A binary classification problem is formulated usingensemble nonlinear support vector machines and random forests. Thus, instead ofusing the normal linear combination of kernel activations, the proposed work creates nonlinear combinations of kernel activations in prototype examples. Furthermore, different descriptors are combined in an ensemble of deep support vectormachines, where the product rule is used to combine probability estimates ofdifferent classifiers.
