| 1 | Interplay between the Indonesian Throughflow and the South China Sea Throughflow显示文摘Analysis both based on the wind stress and ocean assimilation dataset shows that the interannual variability of the Indonesian Throughflow and the South China Sea (Luzon Strait) Throughflow is out of phase. Wind anomaly forcing in the equatorial Pacific plays an important role in setting up this phase relation. During El Ni o events, the westerly wind bursts intensify the Northern Equator Current and induce a northward shift of its bifurcation point. As a result, the partition of volume transport between the Kuroshio and the Mindanao Current is changed, with the Kuroshio transport decreased and the Mindanao Current increased. The undershooting/overshooting phenomena occur at the Luzon Strait and the Sulawesi-Mindanao passage, caused by variability of these two currents. Water transport from the Pacific to the South China Sea increases with the Kuroshio transport decreased, and transport from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean decreases with the Mindanao Current transport increased. The situation is reversed during La Ni a. | 3 | A Review of Research on Warm-Sector Heavy Rainfall in China显示文摘Warm-sector heavy rainfall (WSHR) events in China have been investigated for many years. Studies have investigated the synoptic weather conditions during WSHR formation, the categories and general features, the triggering mechanism, and structural features of mesoscale convective systems during these rainfall events. The main results of WSHR studies in recent years are summarized in this paper. However, WSHR caused by micro- to mesoscale systems often occurs abruptly and locally, making both numerical model predictions and objective forecasts difficult. Further research is needed in three areas:(1) The mechanisms controlling WSHR events need to be understood to clarify the specific effects of various factors and indicate the influences of these factors under different synoptic background circulations. This would enable an understanding of the mechanisms of formation, maintenance, and organization of the convections in WSHR events.(2) In addition to South China, WSHR events also occur during the concentrated summer precipitation in the Yangtze River-Huaihe River Valley and North China. A high spatial and temporal resolution dataset should be used to analyze the distribution and environmental conditions, and to further compare the differences and similarities of the triggering and maintenance mechanisms of WSHR events in different regions.(3) More studies of the mechanisms are required, as well as improvements to the model initial conditions and physical processes based on multi-source observations, especially the description of the triggering process and the microphysical parameterization. | 6 | Extreme Learning Machine-Based Thermal Model for Lithium-Ion Batteries of Electric Vehicles under External Short Circuit显示文摘External short circuit(ESC)of lithium-ion batteries is one of the common and severe electrical failures in electric vehicles.In this study,a novel thermal modelis developed to capture the temperature behavior of batteries under ESC conditions.Experiments were systematically performed under different battery initial state of charge and ambient temperatures.Based on the experimental results,we employed an extreme learming machine(ELM)-based thermal(ELMT)model to depict battery temperature behavior under ESC,where a lumped-state thermal model was used to replace the activation function of conventional ELMs.To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model,wecompared the ELMT model with a multi-lumped-state thermal(MLT)model parameterized by thegenetic algorithm using the experimental data from various sets of battery cells.It is shown that the ELMT model can achieve higher computa-tional efficiency than the MLT model and better fitting and prediction accuracy,where the average root mean squared error(RMSE)of the fitting is 0.65℃ for the ELMT model and 3.95℃ for the MLT model,and the RMES of the prediction under new data set is 3.97℃ for the ELMT model and 6.11℃ for the MLT model. | Ruixin Yang Rui Xiong Weixiang Shen Xinfan Lin | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,3: | 11 |
| 7 | Effects of total soy saponins on free radicals in the quadriceps femoris,serum testosterone,LDH,and BUN of exhausted rats显示文摘Purpose:The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of total soy saponins(TS) on the free radical metabolism from the quadriceps femoris muscle,serum testosterone,lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),and blood urea nitrogen(BUN) in rats exercised to exhaustion.Methods:A one-time exhausted treadmill exercise session was used.Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups:a control group—animals receiving no TS and no exercise(NTSNE),animals receiving TS but no exercise group(TSNE),animals receiving no TS but exercised to exhaustion group(NTSE),and animals receiving TS and exercised to exhaustion group(TSE).The TSNE and TSE groups were fed TS at a dosage of 20 mg/kg body weight once per day for 2 weeks.The NTSE group was given a placebo,and the NTSNE group was not given any treatment.The NTSE and TSE groups were exercised at speed of 30 m/min on treadmill until exhausted.The exercise time and exercise distance were recorded when the rats became exhausted and the rats were then decapitated and anatomized immediately.A 10% homogenate of the quadriceps femoris tissue was prepared.The levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),glutathione reductase(GR),reduced glutathione(GSH),total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),LDH,BUN,and serum testosterone were tested.Results:TS significantly increased the exercise time to exhaustion by 20.62%(p < 0.05).The MDA levels were decreased significantly in the TSNE group than in NTSNE group(p < 0.05);the T-AOC levels increased significantly in the TSNE group than in the other 3 groups(p < 0.01,p < 0.05,p < 0.05).The LDH activity significantly increased in the NTSE group than in TSNE group(p < 0.05).The BUN levels significantly increased in the NTSE group than in the other 3 groups(p < 0.01,p < 0.01,p < 0.05),and significantly increased in the TSE group than in NTSNE and TSNE groups(both p < 0.01).The serum testosterone levels increased significantly in the TSNE group than in the other 3 groups(all p < 0.01).SOD,CAT,GSH-Px,GR,and GSH were not statistically different among the groups.Conclusion:TS can significantly improve the exercised rats' serum testosterone level and antioxidant activity in their quadriceps femoris to varying degrees,decrease MDA and serum LDH and BUN levels,increase the exercise time,and delay the occurrence of the fatigue. | Zhigang Liu Ruixin Nie Yun Liu Zhouhong Li Chenxi Yang Zhengying Xiong | 2017 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2017,6,3: | 8 |

| 11 | Delayed baroclinic response of the Antarctic circum-polar current to surface wind stress显示文摘The Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) responds to the surface windstress via two processes, i.e., the instant barotropic process and the delayed baroclinic process. This study focuses on the baroclinic instability mechanism in ACC, which was less reported in the literatures. Results show that the strengthening of surface zonal windstress causes the enhanced tilting of the isopycnal surface, leading to more intense baroclinic instability. Simultaneously, the mesoscale eddies resulting from the baro- clinic instability facilitate the transformation of mean potential energy to eddy energy, which causes the remarkable decrease of the ACC volume transport with the 2-year lag time. | 13 | Effect of substrate cooling on the epitaxial growth of Ni-based single-crystal superalloy fabricated by direct energy deposition显示文摘The columnar-to-equiaxed transition(CET)or the formation of stray grains in the laser melting deposition is the least desirable for the repair of single-crystal blades.In this work,the forced water-cooling was conducted on a single-crystal Rene N5 substrate during the direct energy deposition(DED).The single track remelting,one-layer,two-layer,and eight-layer depositions were investigated to explore the grain growth mechanism.The solidification conditions of the DED process,including temperature field,temperature gradient,and solidification speed,were numerically analyzed by a finite element model.The single-track remelting results showed that the fraction of columnar crystal regions increases from55.81%in the air-cooled sample to 77.14%in the water-cooled one.The single-track deposits of one-and two-layer have the same trend,where the proportion of columnar crystal height was higher under the forced water-cooled condition.The electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD)grain-structure maps of an eight-layer deposit show that the epitaxial growth height increases from 1 mm in the air-cooling sample to 1.5 mm in the water-cooling one.The numerical results showed that the tempe rature gradient in[0011 direction was significantly increased by using forced water-cooling.In conclusion,the in-situ substrate cooling can become a potential method to promote epitaxial growth during DED via the influence on CET occurrence. | Jianwen Nie Chaoyue Chen Longtao Liu Xiaodong Wang Ruixin Zhao Sansan Shuai Jiang Wang Zhongming Ren | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,3: | 6 |

The ZAO powder was synthesized by chemical coprecipitation. The ZAO ceramic sputtering target materials were fabricated by sintering in air, and ZAO transparent conductive films were prepared by RF magnetron sputtering on glass substrates. XRD proved that such films had an orientation of (002) crystal panel paralleled to the surface of the glass substrate. | 15 | On-board Diagnosis of Soft Short Circuit Fault in Lithium-ion Battery Packs for Electric Vehicles Using an Extended Kalman Filter显示文摘The safety of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles(EVs)is attracting more attention.To ensure battery safety,early detection is necessary of a soft short circuit(SC)which may evolve into severe SC faults,leading to fire or thermal runaway.This paper proposes a soft SC fault diagnosis method based on the extended Kalman filter(EKF)for on-board applications in EVs.In the proposed method,the EKF is used to estimate the state of charge(SOC)of the faulty cell by adjusting a gain matrix based on real-time measured voltages.The SOC difference between the estimated SOC and the calculated SOC through coulomb counting for the faulty cell is employed to detect soft SC faults,and the soft SC resistance values are further identified to indicate the degree of fault severity.Soft SC experiments are developed to investigate the characteristics of a series-connected battery pack under different working conditions when one battery cell in the pack is short-circuited with different resistance values.The experimental data are acquired to validate the proposed soft SC fault diagnosis method.The results show that the proposed method is effective and robust in quickly detecting a soft SC fault and accurately estimating soft SC resistance. | Ruixin Yang Rui Xiong Weixiang Shen | 2022 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2022,8,1: | 5 |

| 17 | Impact of oceans on climate change in drylands显示文摘Drylands account for approximately 41% of the global total land area. Significant warming and rare precipitation in drylands result in a fragile ecology and deterioration of the living environment, making it more sensitive to global climate change. As an important regulator of the Earth's climate system, the oceans play a vital role in the process of climate change in drylands. In modern climate change in particular, the impact of marine activities on climate change in drylands cannot be neglected. This paper reviews the characteristics of climate change in drylands over the past 100 years, and summarizes the researches conducted on the impact of marine activities on these changes. The review focuses on the impact of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO), Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO), El Ni?o and La Ni?a on climate change in drylands, and introduces the mechanisms by which different oceanic oscillation factors synergistically affect climate change in drylands.Studies have shown that global drylands have experienced a significant intensification in warming in the past 100 years, which shows obvious characteristics of interdecadal dry/wet variations. The characteristics of these changes are closely related to the oscillatory factors of the oceanic interdecadal scale. Different phase combinations of oceanic oscillation factors significantly change the land-sea thermal contrast, which in turn affects the westerly jet, planetary wave and blocking frequency, resulting in changes in the temperature and dry/wet characteristics of drylands. | 19 | Cold spray additive manufacturing of Invar 36 alloy:microstructure,thermal expansion and mechanical properties显示文摘In this work,the Invar 36 alloys were manufactured using cold spray(CS)additive manufacturing technique.The systematic investigations were made on the microstructural evolution,thermal expansion and mechanical properties under as-sprayed(AS)and heat-treated(HT)conditions.XRD(X-ray diffraction)and ICP-AES(inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy)analyses show that no phase transformation,oxidation,nor element content change have occurred.The X-ray computed tomography(XCT)exhibited a near fully dense structure with a porosity of 0.025%in the helium-produced sample under as-sprayed condition,whereas the nitrogen-produced samples produced at 5 MPa and 800℃show more irregular pore defects.He-AS sample shows a more prominent grain refinement than that of nitrogen samples due to the more extensive plastic deformation.The post heat-treatment exhibited a promoted grain growth,inter-particle diffusion,as well as the formation of annealing twins.Between25℃and 200℃,the nitrogen samples possessed lower CTE(coefficient of thermal expansion)values(1.53×10^(-6)/℃)compared with those produced by casting and laser additive manufacturing.The He-AS samples exhibited a noticeable negative CTE value between 25℃and 200℃,which may due to the significant compressive residual stress(-272 MPa)compensating its displacement with temperature increase during CTE test.The N2-HT and He-HT Invar 36 samples present a notable balance between strength and ductility.In conclusion,the CS technique can be considered as a potential method to produce the Invar36 component with high thermal and mechanical performance. | Chaoyue Chen Yingchun Xie Longtao Liu Ruixin Zhao Xiaoli Jin Shanqing Li Renzhong Huang Jiang Wang Hanlin Liao Zhongming Ren | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,13: | 4 |
