4Effect of heterogeneity and injection rates on the recovery of oil from conventional sand packs:A simulation approach显示文摘The study of flow through porous media has been of cardinal gravity in oil and gas applications like enhanced oil recovery(EOR),acidizing, fracturing, etc. One of the most anticipated apprehensions is that the core flooding and simulation have become prevalent to understand the flow through porous media. This study aims at simulating and analyzing the effect of alkaline surfactant flooding through heterogeneous permeability conditions in the lab-scale methods. The conventional methods of core flood deal with the effective permeability of the system without considering the effect of heterogeneity within the core. The heterogeneous studies are conducted by simulating a finely meshed 2-D axisymmetric model of the sand pack. The novel Karanj oil surfactant extracted from Pongamia Pinnata, and partially hydrolyzed polyacryl amide polymer are considered for the physicochemical properties of displacing fluid used in the simulations.Different heterogeneity combinations and displacing fluid injection flow rates are introduced for a single absolute permeability system. Results indicate a trend of oil recovery upright with increasing vertical permeability.A lower areal sweep efficiency and early breakthrough are observed in models with high horizontal permeabilities.Further, the effect of heterogeneity on oil recovery is reduced with the increase in injection flow rates of displacing fluid. The present work utilizes computational fluid dynamics to model multiphase flow through a heterogeneous permeability media and its effect on oil recovery.Anurag Pandey Himanshu Kesarwani Amit Saxena Reza Azin Shivanjali Sharma 2023Petroleum Research2023,8,1:0
5Presenting decision tree for best mixing rules and Z-factor correlations and introducing novel correlation for binary mixtures显示文摘The significance of gas compressibility factor in petroleum engineering encourages the researchers to employ the most accurate and precise methods for estimation of this factor.Commonly, empirical correlations due to their simplicity have been referred more than other approaches for prediction of Z-factor.There is no clear and reliable report to address an appropriate combination of correlation and mixing rule for each type of gas.In the present study, combination of several empirical correlations and mixing rules is examined and a decision tree is constructed to suggest best combination for each gas system. For this reason,2329 experimental data were used for analysis.According to the results,LelandeMueller mixing rule/Sanjari and Lay correlation is the best combination for sour and natural gas. Also,Van NesseAbbot mixing rule/HalleYarborough correlation,StewarteBurkhardteVoo mixing rule/Heidarian correlation and SattereCampbell mixing rule/Papay correlation are the most appropriate combination for gas condensate, binary and ternary mixtures respectively. For binary mixtures,a robust and novel empirical correlation was developed based on Kay mixing rule to estimate Z-factor.The results employed how good the new correlation is in agreement with the experimental data with significant R-squared 0.9843.Mohamad Mohamadi-Baghmolaei Reza Azin Zeinab Zarei Shahriar Osfouri 2016Petroleum2016,2,3:0
