| 1 | Loss of oral mucosal stem cell markers in oral submucous fibrosis and their reactivation in malignant transformation显示文摘The integrity of the basal stem cell layer is critical for epithelial homoeostasis.In this paper,we review the expression of oral mucosal stem cell markers(OM-SCMs)in oral submucous fibrosis(OSF),oral potentially malignant disorders(OPMDs)and oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)to understand the role of basal cells in potentiating cancer stem cell behaviour in OSF.While the loss of basal cell clonogenicity triggers epithelial atrophy in OSF,the transition of the epithelium from atrophic to hyperplastic and eventually neoplastic involves the reactivation of basal stemness.The vacillating expression patterns of OM-SCMs confirm the role of keratins 5,14,19,CD44,β1-integrin,p63,sex-determining region Y box(SOX2),octamer-binding transcription factor 4(Oct-4),c-MYC,B-cell-specific Moloney murine leukaemia virus integration site 1(Bmi-1)and aldehyde dehydrogenase 1(ALDH1)in OSF,OPMDs and OSCC.The downregulation of OM-SCMs in the atrophic epithelium of OSF and their upregulation during malignant transformation are illustrated with relevant literature in this review. | Mohit Sharma Felipe Paiva Fonseca Keith D.Hunter Raghu Radhakrishnan | 2020 | International Journal of Oral Science2020，12，3： | 7 |
| 2 | Deregulated miRNA clusters in ovarian cancer:Imperative implications in personalized medicine显示文摘Ovarian cancer(OC)is one of the most common and fatal types of gynecological cancer.OC is usually detected at the advanced stages of the disease,making it highly lethal.miRNAs are single-stranded,small non-coding RNAs with an approximate size ranging around 22 nt.Interestingly,a considerable proportion of miRNAs are organized in clusters with miRNA genes placed adjacent to one another,getting transcribed together to result in miRNA clusters(MCs).MCs comprise two or more miRNAs that follow the same orientation during transcription.Abnormal expression of the miRNA cluster has been identified as one of the key drivers in OC.MC exists both as tumor-suppressive and oncogenic clusters and has a significant role in OC pathogenesis by facilitating cancer cells to acquire various hallmarks.The present review summarizes the regulation and biological function of MCs in OC.The review also highlights the utility of abnormally expressed MCs in the clinical management of OC. | Amoolya Kandettu Divya Adiga Vasudha Devi Padmanaban SSuresh Sanjiban Chakrabarty Raghu Radhakrishnan Shama Prasada Kabekkodu | 2022 | Genes & Diseases2022，9，6： | 0 |
