1Transplantation of engineered exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells ameliorate diabetic peripheral neuropathy under electrical stimulation显示文摘Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)is a long-term complication associated with nerve dysfunction and uncontrolled hyperglycemia.In spite of new drug discoveries,development of effective therapy is much needed to cure DPN.Here,we have developed a combinatorial approach to provide biochemical and electrical cues,considered to be important for nerve regeneration.Exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs)were fused with polypyrrole nanoparticles(PpyNps)containing liposomes to deliver both the cues in a single delivery vehicle.We developed DPN rat model and injected intramuscularly the fused exosomal system to understand its long-term therapeutic effect.We found that the fused system along with electrical stimulation normalized the nerve conduction velocity(57.60±0.45 m/s)and compound muscle action potential(16.96±0.73 mV)similar to healthy control(58.53±1.10 m/s;18.19±1.45 mV).Gastrocnemius muscle morphology,muscle mass,and integrity were recovered after treatment.Interestingly,we also observed paracrine effect of delivered exosomes in controlling hyperglycemia and loss in body weight and also showed attenuation of damage to the tissues such as the pancreas,kidney,and liver.This work provides a promising effective treatment and also contribute cutting edge therapeutic approach for the treatment of DPN.Anamika Singh Alok Raghav Parvaiz Ahmad Shiekh Ashok Kumar 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,8:4

3Recent advances in production,purification and applications of phycobiliproteins显示文摘An obligatory sunlight requirement for photosynthesis has exposed cyanobacteria to different quantity and quality of light. Cyanobacteria can exhibit efficient photosynthesis over broad region(450 to 650 nm) of solar spectrum with the help of brilliantly coloured pigment proteins called phycobiliproteins(PBPs). Besides light-harvesting, PBPs are found to involve in several life sustaining phenomena including photoprotection in cyanobacteria. The unique spectral features(like strong absorbance and fluorescence), proteineous nature and, some imperative properties like hepato-protective, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging activity of PBPs enable their use in food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and biomedical industries. PBPs have been also noted to show beneficial effect in therapeutics of some disease like Alzheimer and cancer. Such large range of applications increases the demand of PBPs in commodity market. Therefore, the large-scale and coast effective production of PBPs is the real need of time. To fulfil this need, many researchers have been working to find the potential producer of PBPs for the production and purification of PBPs. Results of these efforts have caused the inventions of some novel techniques like mixotrophic and heterotrophic strategies for production and aqueous two phase separation for purification purpose. 4Imaging Electronic Structure of Carbon Nanotubes by Voltage-Contrast Scanning Electron Microscopy显示文摘We introduce voltage-contrast scanning electron microscopy(VC-SEM)for visual characterization of the electronic properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes.VC-SEM involves tuning the electronic band structure and imaging the potential profi le along the length of the nanotube.The resultant secondary electron contrast allows to distinguish between metallic and semiconducting carbon nanotubes and to follow the switching of semiconducting nanotube devices,as confi rmed by in situ electrical transport measurements.We demonstrate that high-density arrays of individual nanotube devices can be rapidly and simultaneously characterized.A leakage current model in combination with fi nite element simulations of the device electrostatics is presented in order to explain the observed contrast evolution of the nanotube and surface electrodes.This work serves to fi ll a void in electronic characterization of molecular device architectures.Aravind Vijayaraghavan Sabine Blatt Christoph Marquardt Simone Dehm Raghav Wahi Frank Hennrich Ralph Krupke 2008Nano Research2008,1,4:2
