| 1 | The Open Quantum Materials Database (OQMD): assessing the accuracy of DFT formation energies显示文摘The Open Quantum Materials Database(OQMD)is a high-throughput database currently consisting of nearly 300,000 density functional theory(DFT)total energy calculations of compounds from the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database(ICSD)and decorations of commonly occurring crystal structures.To maximise the impact of these data,the entire database is being made available,without restrictions,at www.oqmd.org/download.In this paper,we outline the structure and contents of the database,and then use it to evaluate the accuracy of the calculations therein by comparing DFT predictions with experimental measurements for the stability of all elemental ground-state structures and 1,670 experimental formation energies of compounds.This represents the largest comparison between DFT and experimental formation energies to date.The apparent mean absolute error between experimental measurements and our calculations is 0.096 eV/atom.In order to estimate how much error to attribute to the DFT calculations,we also examine deviation between different experimental measurements themselves where multiple sources are available,and find a surprisingly large mean absolute error of 0.082 eV/atom.Hence,we suggest that a significant fraction of the error between DFT and experimental formation energies may be attributed to experimental uncertainties.Finally,we evaluate the stability of compounds in the OQMD(including compounds obtained from the ICSD as well as hypothetical structures),which allows us to predict the existence of~3,200 new compounds that have not been experimentally characterised and uncover trends in material discovery,based on historical data available within the ICSD. | Scott Kirklin James E Saal Bryce Meredig Alex Thompson Jeff W Doak Muratahan Aykol Stephan Rühl Chris Wolverton | 2015 | npj Computational Materials2015，，1： | 62 |

| 4 | The dependences of osteocyte network on bone compartment, age, and disease显示文摘Osteocytes, the most abundant bone cells, form an interconnected network in the lacunar-canalicular pore system(LCS) buried within the mineralized matrix, which allows osteocytes to obtain nutrients from the blood supply, sense external mechanical signals, and communicate among themselves and with other cells on bone surfaces. In this study, we examined key features of the LCS network including the topological parameter and the detailed structure of individual connections and their variations in cortical and cancellous compartments, at different ages, and in two disease conditions with altered mechanosensing(perlecan deficiency and diabetes).LCS network showed both topological stability, in terms of conservation of connectivity among osteocyte lacunae(similar to the ‘‘nodes' ' in a computer network), and considerable variability the pericellular annular fluid gap surrounding lacunae and canaliculi(similar to the ‘‘bandwidth'' of individual links in a computer network). Age, in the range of our study(15–32 weeks), affected only the pericellular fluid annulus in cortical bone but not in cancellous bone. Diabetes impacted the spacing of the lacunae, while the perlecan deficiency had a profound influence on the pericellular fluid annulus. | 6 | Gynecologic oncologists involvement on ovarian cancer standard of care receipt and survival显示文摘AIM:To examine the influence of gynecologic oncolo-gists(GO) in the United States on surgical/chemotherapeutic standard of care(SOC), and how this translates into improved survival among women with ovarian cancer(OC).METHODS: Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Result(SEER)-Medicare data were used to identify 11688 OC patients(1992-2006). Only Medicare recipients with an initial surgical procedure code(n = 6714) were included. Physician specialty was identified by linking SEER-Medicare to the American Medical Association Masterfile. SOC was defined by a panel of GOs. Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine predictors of receiving surgical/chemotherapeutic SOCand proportional hazards modeling to estimate the effect of SOC treatment and physician specialty on survival. RESULTS: About 34% received surgery from a GO and 25% received the overall SOC. One-third of women had a GO involved sometime during their care. Women receiving surgery from a GO vs non-GO had 2.35 times the odds of receiving the surgical SOC and 1.25 times the odds of receiving chemotherapeutic SOC(P < 0.01). Risk of mortality was greater among women not receiving surgical SOC compared to those who did [hazard ratio = 1.22(95%CI: 1.12-1.33), P < 0.01], and also was higher among women seen by non-GOs vs GOs(for surgical treatment) after adjusting for covariates. Median survival time was 14 mo longer for women receiving combined SOC. CONCLUSION: A survival advantage associated with receiving surgical SOC and overall treatment by a GO is supported.
