1Preparation of cross-linked magnetic chitosan with quaternary ammonium and its application for Cr(Ⅵ) and P(Ⅴ) removal显示文摘Pollutants that exist in anionic species are issues of concern in water treatment.Compared to cationic pollutants,the removal of anionic pollutants by adsorption is more difficult because most adsorbents carry predominantly negative charges in neutral and alkaline environments.In this study,a cross-linked chitosan derivative with quaternary ammonium and magnetic properties(QM-chitosan)was prepared and employed to remove chromium(VI)and phosphorus(V)(Cr(VI)and P(V))from aqueous environments.The QM-chitosan was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry(FT-IR),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),energy dispersive X-ray(SEM-EDX)and zeta potential.Batch experiments show that QM-chitosan can effectively remove Cr(VI)and P(V),and the main mechanism was believed to be electrostatic interaction.A pseudosecond-order model was fitted to describe the kinetic processes of Cr(VI)and P(V)removal.The adsorption isotherms of both Cr(VI)and P(V)on the QM-chitosan were well fitted by the Langmuir isotherm equation.The saturated adsorption capacity of P(V)(2.783 mmol/g)was found to be higher than that of Cr(VI)(2.323 mmol/g),resulting from the size of the H2PO-4ions being smaller than that of the HCr O-4ions.However,the theoretical calculation and experimental results showed that QM-chitosan had a stronger affinity for Cr(VI)than P(V).The adsorption–desorption of the QM-chitosan was evaluated,and high regeneration rates were demonstrated.Wei Yao Pinhua Rao Irene M.C.Lo Wenqi Zhang Wenrui Zheng 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,12:9
2Long-term observations of tropospheric NO_2, SO_2 and HCHO by MAX-DOAS in Yangtze River Delta area, China显示文摘Yangtze River Delta(YRD) area is one of the important economic zones in China. However,this area faces increasing environmental problems. In this study, we use ground-based multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy(MAX-DOAS) network in Eastern China to retrieve variations of NO_2, SO_2, and formaldehyde(HCHO) in the YRD area. Three cities of YRD(Hefei, Nanjing, and Shanghai) were selected for long-term observations. This paper presents technical performance and characteristics of instruments, their distribution in YRD, and results of vertical column densities(VCDs) and profiles of NO_2, SO_2, and HCHO.Average diurnal variations of tropospheric NO_2 and SO_2 in different seasons over the three stations yielded minimum values at noon or in the early afternoon, whereas tropospheric HCHO reached the maximum during midday hours. Slight reduction of the pollutants in weekends occurred in all the three sites. In general trace gas concentrations gradually reduced from Shanghai to Hefei. Tropospheric VCDs of NO_2, SO_2, and HCHO were compared with those from Ozone Monitoring Instrument(OMI) satellite observations, resulting in R^2 of 0.606, 0.5432, and 0.5566, respectively. According to analysis of regional transports of pollutants, pollution process happened in YRD under the north wind with the pollution dissipating in the southeast wind. 3Variation of temporal and spatial patterns of NO_2 in Beijing using OMI and mobile DOAS显示文摘Control policies such as 'odd-and-even license plate rule' were implemented by the Chinese government to restrict traffic and suspend factory production in Beijing and neighboring cities during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. We use ozone monitoring instrument(OMI), mobile differential optical absorption spectroscopy(DOAS), and multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy(MAX-DOAS) to measure the variation of the spatial and temporal patterns of NO2 column densities from October 24, 2014 to November 22, 2014. It is found that the NO2 column densities during the episode of control policies are significantly lower than those during other periods, and the emission flux of NO2 calculated by mobile DOAS is also lower than the results from other periods. Some daily low NO2 column densities occur with the northwest wind direction. We then compare the relationship between OMI and mobile DOAS NO2 column density observations, and the results of mobile DOAS are approximately 2.7 times larger than the OMI values. The largest discrepancy occurs in the northern part of Beijing city. In other parts, the two instruments have a better correlation coefficient(R2) of 0.61. 8A hydroxyl radical detection system using gas expansion and fast gating laser-induced fluorescence techniques显示文摘An OH radical measurement instrument based on Fluorescence Assay by Gas Expansion(FAGE)has been developed in our laboratory.Ambient air is introduced into a low-pressure fluorescence cell through a pinhole aperture and irradiated by a dye laser at a high repetition rate of 8.5 k Hz.The OH radical is both excited and detected at 308 nm using A-X(0,0)band.To satisfy the high efficiency needs of fluorescence collection and detection,a 4-lens optical system and a self-designed gated photomultiplier(PMT)is used,and gating is actualized by switching the voltage applied on the PMT dynodes.A micro channel photomultiplier(MCP)is also prepared for fluorescence detection.Then the weak signal is accumulated by a photon counter in a specific timing.The OH radical excitation spectrum range in the wavelength of 307.82–308.2 nm is detected and the excited line for OH detection is determined to be Q_1(2)line.The calibration of the FAGE system is researched by using simultaneous photolysis of H_2O and O_2.The minimum detection limit of the instrument using gated PMT is determined to be 9.4×10~5molecules/cm^3,and the sensitivity is 9.5×10^(-7)cps/(OH·cm^(-3)),with a signal-to-noise ratio of 2 and an integration time of 60 sec,while OH detection limit and the detection sensitivity using MCP is calculated to be 1.6×10~5molecules/cm^3and 2.3×10^(-6)cps/(OH·cm^(-3)).The laboratory OH radical measurement is carried out and results show that the proposed system can be used for atmospheric OH radical measurement.Hao Chen Renzhi Hu Pinhua Xie Xingbiao Xing Liuyi Ling Zhiyan Li Fengyang Wang Yihui Wang Jianguo Liu Wenqing Liu 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,3:1

11Community structure and assembly of denitrifying bacteria in epiphytic biofilms in a freshwater lake ecosystem显示文摘Denitrifying bacteria are a crucial component of aquatic ecosystem in nitrogen cycle.However,the denitrifying bacterial community dynamics and structure in epiphytic biofilms remain unexplored.The abundance of denitrification gene(nir)and structure of nirS-denitrifying bacterial community in the epiphytic biofilms collected in July and November of 2018 from a typical plateau lake(Caohai Wetland,Guizhou,China)were studied by Real-time Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction(qPCR)and highthroughput sequencing.Results show that the gene abundance of nirK was higher than that of nirS(P<0.05),and it was significantly different during the growth period(July)than the decline period(November).The denitrifying bacterial species was similar in the two months and shared 76.18%of OTUs.Proteobacteria(56.55%±22.15%)was the dominant phylum in all the samples.Epiphytic biofilms between growth period and decline period displayed significantly different microbial community structures due to differences in species abundance.Water temperature was the crucial factor that affected the denitrifying microbial community structure in our study.Environmental factors explain only partially the dynamic characteristics of denitrifying microbial communities,implying that the stochastic processes affected the construction of denitrifying microbial communities.As the null model analysis results show,dispersal limitation(stochastic)and undominated processes significantly influenced the assembly of denitrifying microbial communities.This study broadened our understanding of the denitrifying bacterial community structure and its function on epiphytic biofilms in freshwater ecosystems with new information provided.Guoqing LI Dingbo YAN Pinhua XIA Haipeng CAO Tao LIN Yin YI 2022Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,3:1

15Shifts of sediment bacterial community and respiration along a successional gradient in a typical karst plateau lake wetland(China)显示文摘Bacteria are important regulators of carbon cycling in lakes and are central to sediment ecosystem processes.However,the sediment microbial communities and their respiratory responses to the lake wetland succession are poorly understood.In this study,we collected sediment samples from four different succession points(the Potamogeton lucens zone,the Scirpus tabernaemontani zone,the Scirpus triqueter zone,and the Juncus effusus zone)in the Caohai Wetland of the Guizhou Plateau(China).The bacterial communities at these succession points were studied using a high-throughput sequencing approach.The sediment microbial respiration(SR)was measured using static chambers in the field and basal respiration(BR)was determined in the laboratory.The results show that the dominant bacterial taxa in the sediment was Proteobacteria(34.7%),Chloroflexi(17.8%),Bacteroidetes(7.3%),Acidobacteria(6.6%),and Cyanobacteria(6.1%).Principal coordinate analysis showed that the microbial community structure differs significantly at different sampling points along the successional gradient,indicating that the bacterial community structure is sensitive to the lake wetland succession.Different hydrological regimes and soil characteristics such as NH_(4)^(+)-N,Fe^(2+),Mn^(2+),and sediment organic carbon(SOC)content may be important factors responsible for the differences in the sediment microbial characteristics of the different successional stages in the Caohai wetland.Additionally,it was found that the SR increased significantly from the P.lucens zone to the J.effusus zone,but BR had the opposite response.The shifts in the bacterial community structure along the successional gradient may be the main reason for the observed differences in sediment respiration.Pinhua XIA Jian ZHANG Jinbo LIU Lifei YU 2021Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,3:1

19Key emergency response technologies for abrupt air pollution accidents in China显示文摘Abrupt air pollution accidents can endanger people’s health and destroy the local ecological environment.The appropriate emergency response can minimize the harmful effects of accidents and protect people’s lives and property.This paper provides an overview of the key emergency response technologies for abrupt air pollution accidents around the globe with emphasis on the major achievements that China has obtained in recent years.With decades of effort,China has made significant progress in emergency monitoring technologies and equipment,source estimation technologies,pollutant dispersion simulation technologies and others.Many effective domestic emergency monitoring instruments(e.g.,portable DOAS/FT-IR systems,portable FID/PID systems,portable GC-MS systems,scanning imaging remote sensing systems,and emergency monitoring vehicles)had been developed which can meet the demands for routine emergency response activities.A monitoring layout technique combining air dispersion simulation,fuzzy comprehensive evaluation,and a post-optimality analysis was proposed to identify the optimal monitoring layout scheme under the constraints of limited monitoring resources.Multiple source estimation technologies,including the forward method and the inversion method,have been established and evaluated under various scenarios.Multi-scale dynamic pollution dispersion simulation systems with high temporal and spatial resolution were further developed.A comprehensive emergency response platform integrating database support,source estimation,monitoring schemes,fast monitoring of pollutants,pollution predictions and risk assessment was developed based on the technical idea of'source identification-model simulation-environmental monitoring'dynamic interactive feedback.It is expected that the emergency response capability for abrupt air pollution accidents will gradually improve in China.Jun Duan Shushuai Mao Pinhua Xie Jianlei Lang Ang Li Jingjing Tong Min Qin Jin Xu Zeya Shen 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,1:1
