2Characterisation and functional roles of a highly branched dextran produced by a bee pollen isolate Leuconostoc mesenteroides BI-20显示文摘Lactic Acid Bacteria(LAB)from different niches can be responsible for the production of distinct exopolysaccharides(EPS)that might possess important structural and technological features.In this respect,the aim of this study was to isolate an EPS producer LAB strain from bee pollen environment.Leuconostoc mesenteroides BI-20 with a slimy-mucoid colony morphology was identified from bee pollen and the structural,technological and functional characteristics of EPS produced by this strain were determined.EPS BI-20 was a highly branched dextran containing 20%(1→3)-linked α-D-glucose branches determined by ^(1)H and ^(13)C NMR analysis.The presence of(1→6)/(1→3)-linkedα-D-glucose linkages in dextran BI-20 was also confirmed by FTIR analysis.Dextran BI-20,with a molecular weight of 1×10^(8) Da,possessed strong thermal properties,amorphous nature and highly branched and fibrous microstructural characteristics determined by DSC,TGA,XRD and SEM analysis,respectively.In terms of functional roles,dextran BI-20 demonstrated strong antioxidant capacity detected by ABTS and CUPRAC tests.Finally,no digestion was observed in dextran BI-20 under simulated gastric conditions.Results of this study unveiled techno-functional characteristics of dextran BI-20 produced by a bee pollen isolate LAB strain.Mustafa Tahsin Yilmaz Hümeyra Ispirli Osman Taylan Volkan Tasdemir Osman Sagdic Enes Dertli 2022Food Bioscience2022,45,1:0
3Impact of COVID-19 on G20 countries:analysis of economic recession using data mining approaches显示文摘The G20 countries are the locomotives of economic growth,representing 64%of the global population and including 4.7 billion inhabitants.As a monetary and market value index,real gross domestic product(GDP)is affected by several factors and reflects the economic development of countries.This study aimed to reveal the hidden economic patterns of G20 countries,study the complexity of related economic factors,and analyze the economic reactions taken by policymakers during the coronavirus disease of 2019(COVID-19)pandemic recession(2019–2020).In this respect,this study employed data-mining techniques of nonparametric classification tree and hierarchical clustering approaches to consider factors such as GDP/capita,industrial production,government spending,COVID-19 cases/population,patient recovery,COVID-19 death cases,number of hospital beds/1000 people,and percentage of the vaccinated population to identify clusters for G20 countries.The clustering approach can help policymakers measure economic indices in terms of the factors considered to identify the specific focus of influences on economic development.The results exhibited significant findings for the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on G20 countries,splitting them into three clusters by sharing different measurements and patterns(harmonies and variances across G20 countries).A comprehensive statistical analysis was performed to analyze endogenous and exogenous factors.Similarly,the classification and regression tree method was applied to predict the associations between the response and independent factors to split the G-20 countries into different groups and analyze the economic recession.Variables such as GDP per capita and patient recovery of COVID-19 cases with values of$12,012 and 82.8%,respectively,were the most significant factors for clustering the G20 countries,with a correlation coefficient(R2)of 91.8%.The results and findings offer some crucial recommendations to handle pandemics in terms of the suggested economic systems by identifying the challenges that the G20 countries have experienced.Osman Taylan Abdulaziz S.Alkabaa Mustafa Tahsin Yılmaz 2022Financial Innovation2022,8,1:0
4Low-fluence photodynamic therapy combinations in the treatment of exudative age-related macular degeneration显示文摘AIM:To compare the efficacy of low-fluence photodynamic therapy(PDT) combinations in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration(AMD).· METHODS:Forty-five previously untreated eyes of 45 patients with exudative AMD whose best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA) was ≥0.3(Snellen) were enrolled.15 patients in Group I underwent low-fluence PDT(25J/cm2-300mW/cm2-83sec) and intravitreal pegaptanib combination,15 patients in Group II underwent PDT(50J/cm2-600mW/cm2-83sec) and intravitreal pegaptanib combination while,15 patients in Group III underwent intravitreal pegaptanib monotherapy.Complete ophthalmologic examinations were performed in pre and post treatment visits,and the results were statistically analised.A clinical activity score(CAS) was calculated by using changes in lesion size,amount of hemorrhage,staining pattern in FA and OCT measurement of intra/subretinal fluid.≤3 logMAR lines of decrease in BCVA and decrease in CAS were considered as successful treatment.· RESULTS:The mean age of 19 female(42.2%) and 26 male(57.8%) patients was(72.82±8.02) years.Mean follow-up was(13.93±5.87) months.Lesion type was occult in 28 eyes(62.2%).Treatment success rates according to BCVA assessments were 86.7%,80%,60% and mean BCVA decrease were 0.3,1.0,2.2 logMAR lines in Group I,II and III,respectively(P >0.05).According to the changes in central macular thickness and CAS,no difference was found among the study groups(P =0.850 and P =0.811,respectively).Patients treated with combination regimens had lower intravitreal injection frequencies(P =0.015).· CONCLUSION:Combination regimen with intravitreal pegaptanib and low-fluence PDT seems to be safe and effective in stabilizing the clinical activity and BCVA in exudative AMD.Taylan Ozturk Hakan Oner Ali Osman Saatci Suleyman Kaynak 2012International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2012,5,3:0
