| 1 | Bacterial community in sediment from the Western Pacific 'Warm Pool' and its relationship to environment显示文摘Total DNAs were extracted from different sections of deep sea sediment core sample collected from the Western Pacific 'Warm Pool'. The bacterial 16S ribosomal DNA (rDNA) clone libraries were constructed and analyzed by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and DNA sequencing. The bacterial communities in these samples and their relationship to environment were analyzed consequently. The results indicated that among eight main bacterial groups found in these sediments, members of the γ-Proteobacteria were most abundant in each section of sediment core sample and the genus Colwellia belonging to γ-Proteobacteria was dominant in this area. Members of the α-Proteobacteria were found commonly existing in these samples, while members belonging to β-Proteobacteria were seldom detected. The diversity of bacterial communities from different sections of sediment core sample was δ- and ε-Proteo- bacteria and the bacterial group including genera Cytopahga, Flexibacteria and Bacteroides (CFB group). These bacteria all were inversely proportional to the depth of sediment. Phylogenetic analysis showed that there were 18%-30% and 15%-25% of total bacterial communities related to methane and sulfur metabolism respectively in each section of core sample, implicating that the metabolism of sulfur and methane played an important role in the substance and energy cycles of the Western Pacific 'Warm Pool'. | ZENG Runying ZHAO Jing ZHANG Rui LIN Nianwei | 2005 | Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,2: | 21 |
| 2 | Intergranular corrosion behavior and mechanism of the stabilized ultra-pure 430LX ferritic stainless steel显示文摘Intergranular corrosion(IGC) behavior of the stabilized ultra-pure 430 LX ferritic stainless steel(FSS) was investigated by using double loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation(DL-EPR) and oxalic acid etch tests to measure the susceptibility of specimens given a two-step heat treatment. The results reveal that IGC occurs in the specimens aged at the temperature range of 600–750℃ for a short time. The aging time that is required to cause IGC decreases with the increase of aging temperature. A longer aging treatment can reduce the susceptibility to IGC. The microstructural observation shows that M(23)C6 precipitates form along the grain boundaries, leading to the formation of Cr-depleted zones. The presence of Cr-depleted zones results in the susceptibility to IGC. | 3 | Effects of enhanced UV-B radiation on fitness of an alpine species Cerastium glomeratum Thuill显示文摘Aims Information about how species respond to extreme environments,such as high UV-B radiation,is very useful in estimating natural ecosystem structure and functions in alpine areas.Our aim is to examine the effect of enhanced UV-B radiation on the fitness of an alpine meadow annual species on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.Methods Plants of Cerastium glomeratum Thuill.were exposed to ambient(control)or ambient plus supplemental UV-B radiation(enhanced),simulating a 9%ozone depletion over Gannan,China(10253#E,3455#N,2900 m in altitude),up to leaf senescence and fruit maturation.Plant height,flower phenology,biomass allocation and reproductive parameters of the species were measured.Important findings Plant height in C.glomeratum was reduced by enhanced UV-B radiation at early growth stages and compensated with ongoing development.Fruit biomass,aboveground biomass,total biomass and reproductive effort(fruit dry mass/aboveground biomass)were not affected by enhanced UV-B radiation,but a significant increase in root/shoot ratio was found.Enhanced UV-B radiation delayed onset of flowering by 1 day and shortened duration of flowering by 5 days in C.glomeratum.But because of the long period of flowering time(83–88 days),this did not make any significant effect on flower number,seed number,pollination success(number of seeds per fruit)or reproductive success(fruit to flower ratio)in C.glomeratum.Enhanced UV-B radiation had no effect on seed germination and seed mass either.And the high production and low germination rate of the seed might be the strategy of C.glomeratum to survive the extreme environments on alpine meadow.All these results showed that C.glomeratum was tolerant to enhanced UV-B radiation. | Ying Wang Nianwei Qiu Xingan Wang Zongqi Ma Guozhen Du | 2008 | Journal of Plant Ecology2008,1,3: | 3 |

| 8 | Functional analysis of the promoter of the dmrt1 gene in Chinese tongue sole,Cynoglossus semilaevis显示文摘The dmrt1 (doublesex and mab-3 related transcription factor 1) gene is considered to play an essential role in testis differentiation and development among metazoan species. As an economically important marine fish in China, Chinese tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis) possess a ZW/ZZ sex-determining system, and the females usually grow two to four times bigger than males. Previous studies have confirmed that Z-linked dmrt1 gene is the male determining gene in C. semilaevis and TALENs-mediated knocking-out individuals showed increased growth phenotype. In order to investigate the function of dmrt1 regulatory regions and its potential application, we have cloned the promoter of C. semilaevis dmrt1. The acquired sequence consisted of a 5'-upstream sequence and a partial exon1;functional analysis showed that there were two positive regulatory regions in the promoter, as well as one negative region and one neutral region. These positive regions were then combined to obtain several newly constructed promoters. Both in vitro and in vivo analysis confirmed one of them (dmrt1-Δ3+Δ4) showed elevated promoting activity compared to the full-length promoter and could drive exogenous gene expression in tongue sole gonads. | 20 | Memorable full-color circularly polarized luminescence from chiral co-assembled polymer films enabled by multipath transfer显示文摘The modulation of circularly polarized luminescence(CPL)is of importance for display and asymmetric chemical synthesis.However,the underlying mechanism of CPL transfer remains rarely studied.Herein,we rationally design a multipath transfer system including multistep chirality transfer(MCT)and sequential fluorescence resonance energy transfer(SFRET),and we are the first to fabricate memorable full-color CPL-active films with a high dissymmetry factor(~10^(-2)).Specifically,(P/M)-helical nanofibers are constructed by co-assembly between an achiral polymer,poly(9,9-di-n-octylfluorene)(PF8),and easy-to-remove R/S-limonene.When matching achiral emitters are added,the PF8 mediates MCT and simultaneously triggers the SFRET process.Furthermore,full-color CPL memory is realized after removing the chiral source.Molecular simulation and structure analysis indicate that the robust helical superstructure of PF8 provides chiral sites to accommodate emitters,which is essential for CPL transfer and memory.This work provides a novel strategy for constructing CPL-active materials in an aggregated state and insights into CPL transfer and memory. | Gong Zhang Yinglong Bao Menghan Pan Nianwei Wang Xiaoxiao Cheng Wei Zhang | 2023 | Science China Chemistry2023,66,4: | 0 |
