1Advances in lithium niobate photonics:development status and perspectives显示文摘Lithium niobate(LN)has experienced significant developments during past decades due to its versatile properties,especially its large electro-optic(EO)coefficient.For example,bulk LN-based modulators with high speeds and a superior linearity are widely used in typical fiber-optic communication systems.However,with everincreasing demands for signal transmission capacity,the high power and large size of bulk LN-based devices pose great challenges,especially when one of its counterparts,integrated silicon photonics,has experienced dramatic developments in recent decades.Not long ago,high-quality thin-film LN on insulator(LNOI)became commercially available,which has paved the way for integrated LN photonics and opened a hot research area of LN photonics devices.LNOI allows a large refractive index contrast,thus light can be confined within a more compact structure.Together with other properties of LN,such as nonlinear/acousto-optic/pyroelectric effects,various kinds of high-performance integrated LN devices can be demonstrated.A comprehensive summary of advances in LN photonics is provided.As LN photonics has experienced several decades of development,our review includes some of the typical bulk LN devices as well as recently developed thin film LN devices.In this way,readers may be inspired by a complete picture of the evolution of this technology.We first introduce the basic material properties of LN and several key processing technologies for fabricating photonics devices.After that,various kinds of functional devices based on different effects are summarized.Finally,we give a short summary and perspective of LN photonics.We hope this review can give readers more insight into recent advances in LN photonics and contribute to the further development of LN related research.Guanyu Chen Nanxi Li Jun Da Ng Hong-Lin Lin Yanyan Zhou Yuan Hsing Fu Lennon Yao Ting Lee Yu Yu Ai-Qun Liu Aaron J.Danner 2022Advanced Photonics2022,4,3:6
2Natural exosome-like nanovesicles from edible tea flowers suppress metastatic breast cancer via ROS generation and microbiota modulation显示文摘Although several artificial nanotherapeutics have been approved for practical treatment of metastatic breast cancer,their inefficient therapeutic outcomes,serious adverse effects,and high cost of mass production remain crucial challenges.Herein,we developed an alternative strategy to specifically trigger apoptosis of breast tumors and inhibit their lung metastasis by using natural nanovehicles from tea flowers(TFENs).These nanovehicles had desirable particle sizes(131 nm),exosome-like morphology,and negative zeta potentials.Furthermore,TFENs were found to contain large amounts of polyphenols,flavonoids,functional proteins,and lipids.Cell experiments revealed that TFENs showed strong cytotoxicities against cancer cells due to the stimulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)amplification.The increased intracellular ROS amounts could not only trigger mitochondrial damage,but also arrest cell cycle,resulting in the in vitro anti-proliferation,anti-migration,and anti-invasion activities against breast cancer cells.Further mice investigations demonstrated that TFENs after intravenous(i.v.)injection or oral administration could accumulate in breast tumors and lung metastatic sites,inhibit the growth and metastasis of breast cancer,and modulate gut microbiota.This study brings new insights to the green production of natural exosome-like nanoplatform for the inhibition of breast cancer and its lung metastasis via i.v.and oral routes.Qiubing Chen Qian Li Yuqi Liang Menghang Zu Nanxi Chen Brandon S.B.Canup Liyong Luo Chenhui Wang Liang Zeng Bo Xiao 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2:4

4Multi-responsive nanotheranostics with enhanced tumor penetration and oxygen self-producing capacities for multimodal synergistic cancer therapy显示文摘Incorporation of multiple functions into one nanoplatform can improve cancer diagnostic efficacy and enhance anti-cancer outcomes. Here, we constructed doxorubicin(DOX)-loaded silk fibroinbased nanoparticles(NPs) with surface functionalization by photosensitizer(N770). The obtained nanotheranostics(N770-DOX@NPs) had desirable particle size(157 nm) and negative surface charge(-25 m V). These NPs presented excellent oxygen-generating capacity and responded to a quadruple of stimuli(acidic solution, reactive oxygen species, glutathione, and hyperthermia). Surface functionalization of DOX@NPs with N770 could endow them with active internalization by cancerous cell lines, but not by normal cells. Furthermore, the intracellular NPs were found to be preferentially retained in mitochondria, which were also efficient for near-infrared(NIR) fluorescence imaging, photothermal imaging,and photoacoustic imaging. Meanwhile, DOX could spontaneously accumulate in the nucleus. Importantly, a mouse test group treated with N770-DOX@NPs plus NIR irradiation achieved the best tumorretardation effect among all treatment groups based on tumor-bearing mouse models and a patientderived xenograft model, demonstrating the unprecedented therapeutic effects of trimodal imagingguided mitochondrial phototherapy(photothermal therapy and photodynamic therapy) and chemotherapy.Therefore, the present study brings new insight into the exploitation of an easy-to-use, versatile, and robust nanoplatform for programmable targeting, imaging, and applying synergistic therapy to tumors.Shuangquan Gou Nanxi Chen Xiaoai Wu Menghang Zu Shixiong Yi Binwu Ying Fangyin Dai Bowen Ke Bo Xiao 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,1:2
5Silicon substrate-integrated hollow waveguide for miniaturized optical gas sensing显示文摘Gas sensors have a wide variety of applications.Among various existing gas sensing technologies,optical gas sensors have outstanding advantages.The development of the Internet of Things and consumer electronics has put stringent requirements on miniaturized gas sensing technology.Here,we demonstrate a chip-scale silicon substrate-integrated hollow waveguide(Si-iHWG) to serve as an optical channel and gas cell in an optical gas sensor.It is fabricated through silicon wafer etching and wafer bonding.The Si-i HWG chip is further assembled with an off-chip light source and detector to build a fully functional compact nondispersive infrared(NDIR) CO_(2) sensor.The chip size is 10 mm × 9 mm,and the dimension of the sensor excluding the microcontroller board is 50 mm × 25 mm × 16 mm.This chip solution with compactness,versatility,robustness,and low cost provides a cost-effective platform for miniaturized optical sensing applications ranging from air quality monitoring to con-sumer electronics.SHAONAN ZHENG HONG CAI LINFANG XU NANXI LI ZHONGHUA GU YAO ZHANG WEIGUO CHEN YANYAN ZHOU QINGXIN ZHANG LENNON YAO TING LEE 2022Photonics Research2022,10,1:2
6Lateral Hypothalamus Calcium/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase IIα Neurons Encode Novelty-Seeking Signals to Promote Predatory Eating显示文摘Predatory hunting is an innate appetite-driven and evolutionarily conserved behavior essential for animal survival, integrating sequential behaviors including searching, pursuit, attack, retrieval, and ultimately consumption. Nevertheless, neural circuits underlying hunting behavior with different features remain largely unexplored. Here, we deciphered a novel function of lateral hypothalamus (LH) calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II α (CaMKIIα^(+)) neurons in hunting behavior and uncovered upstream/downstream circuit basis. LH CaMKIIα^(+) neurons bidirectionally modulate novelty-seeking behavior, predatory attack, and eating in hunting behavior. LH CaMKIIα^(+) neurons integrate hunting-related novelty-seeking information from the medial preoptic area (MPOA) and project to the ventral periaqueductal gray (vPAG) to promote predatory eating. 7B-lymphoid tyrosine kinase-mediated FAM83A phosphorylation elevates pancreatic tumorigenesis through interacting with β-catenin显示文摘Abnormal activation of Wnt/β-catenin-mediated transcription is closely associated with the malignancy of pancreatic cancer.Family with sequence similarity 83 member A(FAM83A)was shown recently to have oncogenic effects in a variety of cancer types,but the biological roles and molecular mechanisms of FAM83A in pancreatic cancer need further investigation.Here,we newly discovered that FAM83A binds directly toβ-catenin and inhibits the assembly of the cytoplasmic destruction complex thus inhibiting the subsequent phosphorylation and degradation.FAM83A is mainly phosphorylated by the SRC non-receptor kinase family member BLK(B-lymphoid tyrosine kinase)at tyrosine 138 residue within the DUF1669 domain that mediates the FAM83A-β-catenin interaction.Moreover,FAM83A tyrosine 138 phosphorylation enhances oncogenic Wnt/β-catenin-mediated transcription through promotingβ-catenin-TCF4 interaction and showed an elevated nucleus translocation,which inhibits the recruitment of histone deacetylases by TCF4.We also showed that FAM83A is a direct downstream target of Wnt/β-catenin signaling and correlates with the levels of Wnt target genes in human clinical pancreatic cancer tissues.Notably,the inhibitory peptides that target the FAM83A-β-catenin interaction significantly suppressed pancreatic cancer growth and metastasis in vitro and in vivo.Our results revealed that blocking the FAM83A cascade signaling defines a therapeutic target in human pancreatic cancer.Cefan Zhou Xiaoting Zhu Nanxi Liu Xueying Dong Xuewen Zhang Huili Huang Yu Tang Shicheng Liu Mengyu Hu Ming Wang Xiaoling Deng Shi Li Rui Zhang Yuan Huang Hao Lyu Shuai Xiao Sang Luo Declan William Ali Marek Michalak Xing-Zhen Chen Zhentian Wang Jingfeng Tang 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,3:0

9Epitaxy growth of pure phase CeFeO_(3) thin films with high magneto-optical performance and strong vertical magnetic anisotropy显示文摘The magneto-optical effects of rare earth ferrite can be greatly improved by doping Ce^(3+)ions.CeFeO_(3)with high Ce^(3+)concentration has excellent magneto-optical properties in theory.And due to its perovskite structure it is more suitable to be deposited on the substrates of optical devices compared with the commercial garnet ferrite.In this paper,the pure phase Ce_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(3)films were successfully obtained on the quartz glass and <100>-oriented SrTiO3crystal substrates by radio frequency magnetron sputtering.The effects of substrate and Ce:Fe ratio on the epitaxial orientation,magnetism and magnetooptical performance of films were systematically studied.For the Ce1.0Fe1.0O3/STO film,its MCD ellipticity(ψF) intensity can reach up to 4750(°)/cm in the visible band and 14090(°)/cm in near ultraviolet band.And it also shows a strong vertical magnetic anisotropy,which makes it maintain a good thermal stability when the device size is reduced.These mean that the Ce_(1.0)Fe_(1.0)O_(3)/STO film has a promising application in integrated optical communication devices.Nanxi Lin Fangliang Sheng Xin Chen Xiaolin Hu Naifeng Zhuang 2023Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,12:0
