| 1 | Recent research and progress of biodegradable zinc alloys and composites for biomedical applications: Biomechanical and biocorrosion perspectives显示文摘Biodegradable metals(BMs)gradually degrade in vivo by releasing corrosion products once exposed to the physiological environment in the body.Complete dissolution of biodegradable implants assists tissue healing,with no implant residues in the surrounding tissues.In recent years,three classes of BMs have been extensively investigated,including magnesium(Mg)-based,iron(Fe)-based,and zinc(Zn)-based BMs.Among these three BMs,Mg-based materials have undergone the most clinical trials.However,Mg-based BMs generally exhibit faster degradation rates,which may not match the healing periods for bone tissue,whereas Fe-based BMs exhibit slower and less complete in vivo degradation.Zn-based BMs are now considered a new class of BMs due to their intermediate degradation rates,which fall between those of Mg-based BMs and Fe-based BMs,thus requiring extensive research to validate their suitability for biomedical applications.In the present study,recent research and development on Zn-based BMs are reviewed in conjunction with discussion of their advantages and limitations in relation to existing BMs.The underlying roles of alloy composition,microstructure,and processing technique on the mechanical and corrosion properties of Zn-based BMs are also discussed. | Humayun Kabir Khurram Munir Cuie Wen Yuncang Li | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,3: | 18 |

| 3 | Ultrasound shear wave elastography and liver fibrosis: A Prospective Multicenter Study显示文摘AIM To assess the accuracy of shear wave elastography(SWE) alone and in combination with aminotransferase platelet ratio index(APRI) score in the staging of liver fibrosis.METHODS A multicenter prospective study was conducted to assess the accuracy of SWE(medians) and APRI to predict biopsy results. The analysis focused on distinguishing the different stages of liver disease, namely, F0 from F1-4, F0-1 from F2-4, F0-2 from F3-4 and F0-3 from F4; F0-F1 from F2-F4 being of primary interest. The area under the receiver operating characteristic(AUROC) curve was computed using logistic regression model. The role of age, gender and steatosis was also assessed.RESULTS SWE alone accurately distinguished F0-1 from F2-4 with a high probability. The AUROC using SWE alone was 0.91 compared to 0.78 for using the APRI score alone.The APRI score, when used in conjunction with SWE, did not make a significant contribution to the AUROC. SWE and steatosis were the only significant predictors that differentiated F0-1 from F2-4 with an AUROC of 0.944.CONCLUSION Our study validates the use of SWE in the diagnosis and staging of liver fibrosis. | 6 | Graphene nanoplatelets-reinforced magnesium metal matrix nanocomposites with superior mechanical and corrosion performance for biomedical applications显示文摘Magnesium(Mg)metal matrix composites(MMCs)reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets(GNPs)have been developed by powder metallurgy(PM).GNPs with different concentrations(0.1,0.2,and 0.3 wt.%),layer thicknesses(5 nm and 9 nm),and particle sizes(15μm and 5μm)were dispersed into Mg powder by high-energy ball-milling processes.The microstructure and mechanical properties of the fabricated composites were characterized using transmission electron microscopy(TEM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Raman spectroscopy(RS),and compression tests.The corrosion resistance was evaluated by electrochemical tests and hydrogen evolution measurements.The cytotoxicity of Mg-GNPs composites was assessed using osteoblast-like SaOS2 cells.The results indicate that GNPs are excellent candidates as reinforcements in Mg matrices for the manufacture of biodegradable Mg-based composite implants.GNP addition improved the mechanical properties of Mg via synergetic strengthening modes.Moreover,retaining the structural integrity of GNPs during processing improved the ductility,compressive strength,and corrosion resistance of the Mg-GNP composites.Cytotoxicity assessments did not reveal any significant toxicity with the addition of GNPs to Mg matrices.This study demonstrates that Mg-xGNPs with x<0.3 wt.%,may constitute novel biodegradable implant materials for load-bearing applications. | Khurram Munir Cuie Wen Yuncang Li | 2020 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,1: | 8 |
| 7 | One-step synthesis of N-doped metal/biochar composite using NH_3-ambiance pyrolysis for efficient degradation and mineralization of Methylene Blue显示文摘A series of new biochar-supported composite based on the combination of biochar and metallic nanoparticles(NPs)were produced through single-step pyrolysis of FeCl_3–Ti(OBu)_4 laden agar biomass under NH_3 environment.The physiochemical properties of composites were characterized thoroughly.It has found that heating temperature and N-doping through NH_3-ambiance pyrolysis significantly influence the visible-light sensitivity and bandgap energy of composites.The catalytic activities of composites were measured by degradation of Methylene Blue(MB)in the presence or absence of H_2O_2 and visible-light irradiation.Our best catalyst(N–TiO_2–Fe_3O_4-biochar)exhibits rapid and high MB removal competency(99.99%)via synergism of adsorption,photodegradation,and Fenton-like reaction.Continuous production of O_2U^-and UOH radicles performs MB degradation and mineralization,confirmed by scavenging experiments and degradation product analysis.The local trap state Ti^(3+),Fe_3O_4,and N-carbon of the catalyst acted as active sites.It has suggested that the Ti^(3+)and N-doped dense carbon layer improve charge separation and shuttle that prolonged photo-Fenton like reaction.Moreover,the catalyst is highly stable,collectible,and recyclable up to 5 cycles with high MB degradation efficiency.This work provides a new insight into the synthesis of highly visible-light sensitized biocharsupported photocatalyst through NH_3-ambiance pyrolysis of NPs-laden biomass. | Md Manik Mian Guijian Liu Balal Yousaf Biao Fu Rafay Ahmed Qumber Abbas Mehr Ahmed Mujtaba Munir Liu Ruijia | 2019 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,4: | 8 |
| 8 | Aging Effects of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers on Phosphorus Fractionation in a Calcareous Sandy Loam Soil显示文摘In most arid and semiarid soils, naturally occurring phosphorus(P) is a major yield-limiting plant nutrient. In this study, to investigate the effects of organic(OP) and inorganic P(IP) sources on P fractionation, a calcareous sandy loam alkaline soil was fertilized with OP and IP fertilizers at low(80 mg P kg^(-1) soil) and high(160 mg P kg^(-1) soil) application rates. Three combinations of OP and IP(i.e., 75% OP + 25% IP, 50% OP + 50% IP, and 25% OP + 75% IP) were applied at low and high application rates,respectively, followed by soil aging for 21 d. Soil samples were collected after 1, 2, 3, 7, and 21 d and subjected to sequential extraction to analyze soluble and exchangeable, Fe-and Al-bound, Ca-bound, and residual P fractions. The soluble and exchangeable P fraction significantly increased up to 24.3%, whereas the Ca-bound fraction decreased up to 40.7% in the soils receiving 75% OP + 25% IP and 50% OP + 50% IP, respectively, compared with the control(receiving no P fertilizer). However, the transformation of P fractions was influenced by aging time. Addition of P sources caused instant changes in different P fractions, which then tended to decline with aging time. Change in soil p H was the limiting factor in controlling P availability. At high application rate, the OP source significantly increased soil P availability compared with the IP source with soil aging. Highly publicized controversy surrounding cardiovascular (CV) safety of rosiglitazone resulted in major changes in United States Food and Drug Administration policy in 2008 regarding approval process of new antidiabetic medications, which has resulted in revolutionary data from several large CV outcome trials over the last few years. All drugs in glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor classes have shown to be CV safe with heterogeneous results on CV efficacy. Given twofold higher CV disease mortality in patients with DM than without DM, GLP-1 RAs and SGLT-2-inhibitors are important additions to clinician’s armamentarium and should be second line-therapy particularly in patients with T2DM and established atherosclerotic CV disease or high risks for CV disease. Abundance of data and heterogeneity in CV outcome trials results can make it difficult for clinicians, particularly primary care physicians, to stay updated with all the recent evidence. | 15 | 枯草芽孢杆菌L1-21在柑橘上的定殖能力及其防治绿霉病效果显示文摘为明确枯草芽孢杆菌L1-21在柑橘叶片、果实内的定殖能力及其防治果实绿霉病的效果,通过向柑橘叶片喷施10^(6)cfu/mL的L1-21菌株的绿色荧光标记菌(L1-21-GFP)发酵液,测定其在叶片内的定殖数量及传导能力;采用10^(8)cfu/mL的菌液喷施和浸泡处理柑橘果实,检测其在果实内的定殖情况,用注射法接种Penicillium digitatum孢子并计算发病率,测定其对绿霉病的防控效果。结果显示,处理后10 min,L1-21-GFP在叶表及叶肉中的定殖量分别达到1.36×10^(3)和8.08×10^(2)cfu/cm^(2),并呈现持续增长的趋势。处理后1 h,L1-21-GFP向下传导到叶表的菌含量为1.51×10^(2)cfu/cm^(2),并稳定存在于叶表中;处理后2 h,传导到叶肉的菌含量为5.67 cfu/cm^(2),逐渐增加到30 h时的1.15×10^(3)cfu/cm^(2)。L1-21-GFP能在果实内定殖,浸泡1 h果肉和果皮中的定殖量分别为9.51×10^(3)和3.51×10^(4)cfu/g,但在不同柑橘品种果实间定殖能力有显著性差异,椪柑中定殖量最高。浸泡30 min后,L1-21对果实绿霉病防效第3天为100%,第5天为80.36%。以上结果表明,枯草芽孢杆菌L1-21能高效定殖于柑橘叶片及果实内,可以利用该菌株防治柑橘病害。 | 李健 何鹏飞 李咏梅 吴毅歆 何鹏搏 孔宝华 李兴玉 MUNIR Shahzad 何月秋 | 2021 | 华中农业大学学报2021,40,5: | 5 |

| 17 | Slippery Photothermal Trap for Outstanding Deicing Surfaces显示文摘Ice accumulation is a safety and operational threat in power lines,wind turbines,and transportations.Surfaces having both passive anti-icing and active deicing functionalities are very rare.Here,we report a self-cleaning slippery photothermal trap,which is icephobic passively and deice the surfaces actively by converting sun light to heat at the ice-substrate interface.The photothermal trap consists of three layers:a candle soot layer act as solar radiation absorber,a magnetic iron oxide Fe_(3)O_(4) nanoparticles layer act as heat spreader for lateral dispersal of sun light,and Room Temperature Vulcanized(RTV)insulation to reduce the transverse heat loss.Upon illumination under microsolar 300,the temperature of the surface increased by 40℃ within 200 s.The heat confinement at the magnetic Fe_(3)O_(4) na-noparticles layer leads to rapid increase of the surface temperature,ice start to melt and silicone lubricant facilitates the ice removal.The slippery photothermal trap removed the frozen droplet(10 fiL)within 40 s upon the illumination of sun light and the frozen droplet was completely converted into water after 7 min illumination of solar light at-20℃.The developed slippery photothermal trap also melted the fully frost covered layer within 100 s at-20℃ under sunlamp.The average defrosted length(25 mm)was also observed by irradiation of laser light for 45 s.The self-cleaning slippery photothermal coating showed outstanding deicing performance at subzero temperature for long term due to the infusion of silicone oil into the nanostructures and same chemical composition with binder. | Muhammad Imran Jamil Qiongyan Wang Amjad Ali Munir Hussain Tariq Aziz Xiaoli Zhan Qinghua Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2021,18,3: | 3 |
| 18 | Diagnostic value of plasminogen activity level in acute mesenteric ischemia显示文摘AIM: To investigate the changes in plasminogen activity level during mesenteric ischemia. METHODS: We performed laparotomy in 90 female Wistar-Albino rats (average weight 230 g). In sham groups (SL) (GroupsⅠand Ⅱ) the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and vein (SMV) were explored, but not tied. In SMA groups (Groups Ⅲ and Ⅳ) the SMA was ligated, and in SMV groups (Groups Ⅴ and Ⅵ) the SMV was ligated. On re-laparatomy 2 mL of blood was drawn at 1 h in groupsⅠ, Ⅲ and Ⅴ, and at 3 h in groups Ⅱ, Ⅳ and Ⅵ. Plasminogen levels were assessed and comparisons were made between groups and within each group. RESULTS: The mean plasminogen activity in the SL group was significantly higher than SMA (25.1 ± 10.8 vs 11.8 ± 4.6, P < 0.001) or SMV (25.1 ± 10.8 vs 13.7 ± 4.4, P < 0.001) groups both at 1 h and at 3 h (29.8 ± 8.9 vs 15.1 ± 5.7, P < 0.0001; 29.8 ± 8.9 vs 14.2 ± 2.9, P < 0.0001). There were no significant differences between the values of SMA and SMV groups at 1 h (P = 0.28) and at 3 h (P = 0.71). In each group, plasminogen activity levels did not change significantly between the two measurements performed at 1 h and 3 h. | 19 | MEASUREMENT OF SOLID SLURRY FLOW VIA CORRELATION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC FLOW METER,ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE TOMOGRAPHY AND MECHANISTIC MODELLING显示文摘The study presented here was carried out to obtain the actual solids flow rate by the combination of electrical resistance tomography and electromagnetic flow meter.A new in-situ measurement method based on measurements of the Electromagnetic Flow Meters(EFM) and Electrical Resistance Tomography(ERT) to study the flow rates of individual phases in a vertical flow was proposed.The study was based on laboratory experiments that were carried out with a 50 mm vertical flow rig for a number of sand concentrations and different mixture velocities.A range of sand slurries with median particle size from 212 μm to 355 μm was tested.The solid concentration by volume covered was 5% and 15%,and the corresponding density of 5% was 1078 kg/m3 and of 15% was 1238 kg/m3.The flow velocity was between 1.5 m/s and 3.0 m/s.A total of 6 experimental tests were conducted.The equivalent liquid model was adopted to validate in-situ volumetric solids fraction and calculate the slip velocity.The results show that the ERT technique can be used in conjunction with an electromagnetic flow meter as a way of measurement of slurry flow rate in a vertical pipe flow.However it should be emphasized that the EFM results must be treated with reservation when the flow pattern at the EFM mounting position is a non-homogenous flow.The flow rate obtained by the EFM should be corrected considering the slip velocity and the flow pattern. | XU Jing-yu WU Ying-xiang ZHENG Zhi-chu WANG M. | 20 | 表面活性素促进枯草芽胞杆菌XF-1在大白菜叶际定殖能力研究显示文摘枯草芽胞杆菌XF-1是一株大白菜内生生防菌,通过叶面喷施的方式可有效防控大白菜根肿病,但其叶际定殖的分子机制尚不明确。为了明确表面活性素对XF-1在大白菜叶际定殖的影响,进一步提高其在田间应用效果,本研究通过测定生长曲线、泳动运动、群集运动和24孔细胞培养板静置培养试验,分析表面活性素对XF-1菌株生长速率、运动能力和生物膜形成水平的影响;利用叶片-微生物互作分析和定殖试验,测定XF-1及突变体XF-1-ΔsrfA在大白菜叶表黏附和植株内的定殖能力。结果表明,XF-1-ΔsrfA与XF-1相比生长曲线没有明显差异,泳动能力和群集运动能力分别显著下降了36.8%和43.9%,静置培养24 h后生物膜形成能力显著下降53.9%,48 h后无显著差异。叶片-微生物互作试验中,突变体标记菌XF-1-ΔsrfA-gfp黏附效率较XF-1-gfp约下降80%。喷施接种3~7 d后,XF-1-ΔsrfA-gfp相较于XF-1-gfp在大白菜叶片内和根系中的定殖数量均显著下降。试验结果表明表面活性素对枯草芽胞杆菌XF-1在大白菜叶际定殖具有较为明显的促进作用,srfA基因的缺失显著抑制XF-1的叶际定殖能力。 | 何朋杰 崔文艳 何鹏飞 李兴玉 吴毅歆 SHAHZAD Munir 何月秋 | 2021 | 植物保护2021,47,5: | 3 |
