1Hydrological response under CMIP6 climate projection in Astore River Basin,Pakistan显示文摘Climate change strongly influences the available water resources in a watershed due to direct linkage of atmospheric driving forces and changes in watershed hydrological processes.Understanding how these climatic changes affect watershed hydrology is essential for human society and environmental processes.Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6(CMIP6)dataset of three GCM's(BCC-CSM2-MR,INM-CM5-0,and MPIESM1-2-HR)with resolution of 100 km has been analyzed to examine the projected changes in temperature and precipitation over the Astore catchment during 2020-2070.Bias correction method was used to reduce errors. In this study, statistical significance of trends was performed by using the Man-Kendall test.Sen's estimator determined the magnitude of the trend on both seasonal and annual scales at Rama Rattu and Astore stations.MPI-ESM1-2-HR showed better results with coefficient of determination(COD)ranging from 0.70-0.74 for precipitation and 0.90-0.92 for maximum and minimum temperature at Astore,Rama, and Rattu followed by INM-CM5-0 and BCC-CSM2-MR.University of British Columbia Watershed model was used to attain the future hydrological series and to analyze the hydrological response of Astore River Basin to climate change. Results revealed that by the end of the 2070s,average annual precipitation is projected to increase up to 26.55%under the SSP1-2.6,6.91%under SSP2-4.5,and decrease up to 21.62%under the SSP5-8.5.Precipitation also showed considerable variability during summer and winter. The projected temperature showed an increasing trend that may cause melting of glaciers. The projected increase in temperature ranges from-0.66℃ to 0.50℃,0.9℃ to 1.5℃ and 1.18℃ to 2℃ under the scenarios of SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5,respectively.Simulated streamflows presented a slight increase by all scenarios.Maximum streamflow was generated under SSP5-8.5 followed by SSP2-4.5 and SSP1-2.6.The snowmelt and groundwater contributions to streamflow have decreased whereas rainfall and glacier melt components have increased on the other hand. The projected streamflows(2020-2070)compared to the control period(1990-2014)showed a reduction of 3%-11%,2%-9%,and 1%-7%by SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,and SSP5-8.5,respectively.The results revealed detailed insights into the performance of three GCMs,which can serve as a blueprint for regional policymaking and be expanded upon to establish adaption measures.Zeshan ALI Mudassar IQBAL Ihsan Ullah KHAN Muhammad Umer MASOOD Muhammad UMER Muhammad Usama Khan LODHI Muhammad Atiq Ur Rehman TARIQ 2023Journal of Mountain Science2023,20,8:0
2Implications of twinning on the microstructure development, crystallographic texture and mechanical performance of Mg alloys-a critical review显示文摘Deformation twinning is profusely activated in the Mg alloys due to lower critical resolved shear stress(CRSS) compared to the non-basal slip systems(prismatic and pyramidal ) and plays a significant role in texture reorientation, grain refinement and enhancement of mechanical performance. Twinning is a sequential process comprising twin nucleation, twin propagation and twin growth, hence several intrinsic and extrinsic parameters that facilitate or suppress the process have been critically reviewed. The dependence of twinning on the grain size, deformation temperature, favorable grain orientation and shear strain have been thoroughly discussed in the context of published literature and an attempt has been made to provide a benchmark conclusive finding based on the majority of works. Furthermore, the subsequent effect of twinning on the mechanical performance of Mg alloys, including ductility, formability and tension-compression asymmetry has been discussed in detail. Lastly, the stability of twins, including stress and thermal stability, is summarized and critical issues related to pertinent bottlenecks have been addressed.Umer Masood Chaudry Hafiz Muhammad Rehan Tariq Muhammad Zubair Nooruddin Ansari Tea-Sung Jun 2023Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,11:0
3Disparities in esophageal cancer incidence and esophageal adenocarcinoma mortality in the United States over the last 25-40 years显示文摘BACKGROUND Esophageal carcinoma presents as 2 types, esophageal adenocarcinoma(EAC)and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)with the frequency of both changing in the United States(US).AIM To investigate EAC/ESCC incidence time trends among the 3 main US racial groups and investigate trends in US EAC survival by ethnicity.METHODS Twenty-five years(1992-2016)of data from SEER 13 program was analyzed to compare incidence trends in EAC and ESCC between non-Hispanic whites(nHW),non-Hispanic Blacks(nHB)and Hispanics(Hisp)using SEERStat®.In addition,SEER 18 data, from 1975-2015,on EAC in the US was analyzed to evaluate racial disparities in incidence and survival using SEERStat®and Ederer II method.RESULTS In the 3 major US ethnic groups,age-adjusted incidence of ESCC has declined while EAC has continued to rise from 1992-2016.Of note,in Hisp, the EAC incidence rate increased while ESCC decreased from 1992 to 2016,resulting in EAC as the predominant esophageal cancer subtype in this group since 2011,joining nHW.Furthermore, although ESCC remains the predominant tumor in nHB,the difference between ESCC and EAC has narrowed dramatically over 25 years.EAC survival probabilities were worse in all minority groups compared to nHw.CONCLUSION Hisp have joined nHW as US ethnic groups more likely to have EAC than ESCC.Of note,EAC incidence in nHB is increasing at the highest rate nationally.Despite lower EAC incidence in all minority groups compared to nHW,these populations have decreased survival compared to nHW.Hafiz Muhammad Sharjeel Arshad Umer Farooq Ayesha Cheema Ayesha Arshad Muaaz Masood Kenneth J Vega 2023World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2023,15,12:0
