| 1 | Antioxidant therapy in the management of acute,chronic and post-ERCP pancreatitis:A systematic review显示文摘We systematically reviewed the clinical trials which recruited antioxidants in the therapy of pancreatitis and evaluated whether antioxidants improve the outcome of patients with pancreatitis.Electronic bibliographic databases were searched for any studies which investigated the use of antioxidants in the management of acute pancreatitis(AP)or chronic pancreatitis(CP)and in the prevention of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography(post-ERCP)pancreatitis(PEP)up to February 2009.Twenty-two randomized,placebo-controlled,clinical trials met our criteria and were included in the review.Except for a cocktail of antioxidants which showed improvement in outcomes in three different clinical trials,the results of the administration of other antioxidants in both AP and CP clinical trials were incongruent and heterogeneous.Furthermore,antioxidant therapy including allopurinol and N-acetylcysteine failed to prevent the onset of PEP in almost all trials.In conclusion,the present data do not support a benefit of antioxidant therapy alone or in combination with conventional therapy in the management of AP,CP or PEP.Further double blind,randomized,placebo-controlled clinical trials with large sample size need to be conducted. | Seyed Sajad Mohseni Salehi Monfared Hamed Vahidi Amir Hossein Abdolghaffari Shekoufeh Nikfar Mohammad Abdollahi | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,36: | 10 |
| 2 | Accumulation of heavy metal in Platanus orientalis, Robinia pseudoacacia and Fraxinus rotundifolia显示文摘Plants are capable of reducing environmental pollutions through uptaking contaminants in their tissues. In the study site, twenty one-year-old leaves and shoots as well as twenty soil samples were sampled and analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP). We investigated the uptaking ability of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) by the leaves and shoots of Platanus orientalis, Robinia pseudoacacia and Fraxinus rotundifolia in Karaj city, the western Tehran, Iran. We also evaluated the total metal accumulation capacity by using metal accumulation index (MAI). Results indicated that there was no significant difference in uptaking contents of Cd and Pb in the leaves among the trees. However accumulation of Cd in shoots of F. rotundifolia and R. pseudoacacia was significantly higher than that of P. orientalis. The accumulation of Pb in shoots of R. pseudoacacia was significantly higher than the other species. The amount of Pb in the soil of the study area was significantly higher than Cd. Concentrations of Cd and Pb in leaves of the three species are in the ranges of 2.4 2.7 mg Kg-1 and 7.1 14.4 mg Kg-1 , respectively. | 3 | Application of numerical modeling and genetic programming to estimate rock mass modulus of deformation显示文摘Estimation of the rock mass modulus of deformation(Em)is one of the most important design parameters in designing many structures in and on rock.This parameter can be obtained by in situ tests,empirical relations between deformation modulus and rock mass classifcation,and estimating from laboratory tests results.In this paper,a back analysis calculation is performed to present an equation for estimation of the rock mass modulus of deformation using genetic programming(GP)and numerical modeling.A database of 40,960 datasets,including vertical stress(rz),horizontal to vertical stresses ratio(k),Poisson’s ratio(m),radius of circular tunnel(r)and wall displacement of circular tunnel on the horizontal diameter(d)for input parameters and modulus of deformation for output,was established.The selected parameters are easy to determine and rock mass modulus of deformation can be obtained from instrumentation data of any size circular galleries.The resulting RMSE of 0.86 and correlation coeffcient of97%of the proposed equation demonstrated the capability of the computer program(CP)generated by GP. | Ebrahim Ghotbi Ravandi Reza Rahmannejad Amir Ehsan Feili Monfared Esmaeil Ghotbi Ravandi | 2013 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,5: | 5 |
| 4 | Islet transplantation and antioxidant management: A comprehensive review显示文摘Islet transplantation as a promising treatment for type 1 diabetes has received widespread attention. Oxidative stress plays an essential role in cell injury during islet isolation and transplantation procedures. Antioxidants have been used in various studies to improve islet transplantation procedures. The present study reviews the role of oxidative stress and the benefits of antioxidants in islet transplantation procedures. The bibliographical databases Pubmed and Scopus were searched up to November 2008. All relevant human and animal in-vivo and in-vitro studies, which investigated antioxidants on islets, were included. Almost all the tested antioxidants used in the in-vitro studies enhanced islet viability and insulin secretion. Better control of blood glucose after transplantation was the major outcome of antioxidant therapy in all in-vivo studies. The data also indicated that antioxidants improved islet transplantation procedures.
