| 1 | Mineralogical and sink-float studies of Jajarm low-grade bauxite显示文摘Jajarm's bauxite deposits are mainly diasporic,and they have a low mass ratio of Al2O3/SiO2. It is necessary to increase the run-of-mine mass ratio before feeding the material to the Bayer process. Chemical analysis indicated that the low-grade bauxite sample from Jajarm contained 43.9wt% Al2O3 and 13.35wt% SiO2, resulting in a mass ratio of 3.29. According to mineralogical studies, the presence of aluminosilicate minerals such as kaolinite, illite, and quartz was the main reason for the decrease of the mass ratio. Microscopic observations revealed that, with the size reduction from -1000+710 to -38 μm, the liberation degree of diaspore increased from 10% to 60%, and that of aluminosilicates increased from 20% to 85%. Heavy liquids with the densities of 2.8, 3.0, 3.2, and 3.4 g/cm3 were used to evaluate the heavy media separation in three sizes, i.e., -3350+710, -710+212, and -212+125 μm. | 5 | Modeling the effects of ore properties on water recovery in the thickening process显示文摘A better understanding of solid-liquid separation would assist in improving the thickening performance and perhaps water recovery as well. The present work aimed to develop an empirical model to study the effects of ore properties on the thickening process based on pilot tests using a column. A hydro-cyclone was used to prepare the required samples for the experiments. The model significantly predicted the experimental underflow solid content using a regression equation at a given solid flux and bed level for different samples, indicating that ore properties are the effective parameters in the thickening process. This work confirmed that the water recovery would be increased about 5% by separating the feed into two parts, overflow and underflow, and introducing two different thickeners into them separately. | 6 | Germanium separation and purification by leaching and precipitation显示文摘In this research work, extraction and purification of germanium from zinc leach residues(ZLR) were investigated. The results of ICP, XRF, and atomic adsorption spectroscopy(AAS) tests show that contents of germanium, iron, lead, and zinc within the leaching residue were 105×10^(-6), 3.53%, 10.35%, and 8.8%, respectively. XRD results indicate that the main minerals were in different forms of sulfates(CaSO_4·2H_2O, PbSO_4 and ZnSO_4·6H__2O), silicate(SiO_2), and oxide(Fe_2O_3). Dissolution of leaching filter cake was carried out using 5 parameters and each in 4 levels(acid concentration, temperature, time, liquid-to-solid ratio, and stirring speed) by Taguchi method(L_(16)), and then optimization of the effective parameters by response surface method. Under optimum conditions, zinc and germanium dissolution efficiencies were 88.71% and 8%, respectively. Leaching tests with sulfuric acid(added di-ammonium oxalate monohydrate) and hydrochloric acid(HCl) on the residues obtained from previous-stage sulfuric acid dissolution, yielded germanium and iron recoveries of 83%, 88%, 40%, and 90%, respectively. Thus, leaching experiment with sulfuric acid(added di-ammonium oxalate monohydrate) was superior to that with hydrochloric acid due to high and low extraction amounts of germanium and iron, respectively. Precipitation experiments revealed that germanium purification with tannic acid presented a better result compared to sodium hydroxide and ammonia. | 7 | Nickel extraction from low grade laterite by agitation leaching at atmospheric pressure显示文摘This research work deals with the extraction of nickel from a low grade nickel laterite ore, taken from a deposit located in southwestern of Iran, through agitation leaching at atmospheric pressure. The assaying and mineralogical studies carried out on the nickel laterite sample, showed the 0.88% Ni, and principally consisted of oxide and silicate crystalline phases i.e. dolomite, quartz, magnetite, and goethite. Among numerous factors affecting such process, four major parameters i.e. temperature, agitator speed(r/min), leaching agents and their concentration were considered in a two-level full factorial experimental design. The agitation leach tests showed that the ore could be leached at atmospheric pressure with sulfuric acid while citric acid was almost unpromising. Analysis of variance(ANOVA) using DX7 software was employed to identify effective parameters. Sulfuric acid concentration and temperature were the most effective parameters on Ni extraction. Furthermore, the factorial models for experiment responses were developed. The results showed 83% Ni extraction after 4 h leaching, under optimized conditions i.e.temperature at 95 ℃, acid concentration at 5 N and agitator speed at 1000 r/min. | 10 | Designing paste thickeners for copper flotation tailings,using bed depth scale-up factor显示文摘Aim:The paste thickener could increase the water recovery and reduce the environmental impacts in tailings dam.The present work aimed to find the appropriate scale-up factor for bed depth to design paste thickener for copper tailings,using a lab glass cylinder and an operating pilot column.The thickening tests were carried out on the flotation tailing samples obtained from the Sarcheshmeh and Miduk copper mines located in Iran.Based on the industrial conditions,the values of influential parameters for paste thickener used in these experiments were pH=11 and feed solid=10%.Flocculant type was NF43U and used as 25g/t with dosage of 0.25 g/lit.The unit area of Sarcheshmeh and Miduk paste thickeners were designed as 0.057 and 0.047m2/t/day,respectively.Based on the dry feed rates to each paste thickener as 7920 and 4320 t/day,the thickener's diameters were determined as 23.9 and 16.1 meters which are similar to the actual thickener’s diameters(24 and 16 meters),respectively.In addition to unit area,the bed depth is also important in the paste thickeners design.Hence,the ratio of industrial to lab unit bed volume for Sarcheshmeh paste thickener was obtained 75 which was equal to the ratio of industrial to lab bed depth(bed depth scale-up factor exclusively for copper flotation tailings).This procedure was validated by using the Miduk sample.The bed depth in the paste thickeners was determined as 7.5 meters,by using the bed depth scale-up factor which was comparable to the actual bed depth(8 meters).This research confirmed that the bed depth scale-up factor is able to correctly determine the bed depth of industrial paste thickeners for copper tailings. | Majid Unesi Mohammad Noaparast Sied Ziaedin Shafaei Esmaeil Jorjani Mahdi Yaghobi Moghaddam Hadi Abdollahi | 2018 | Nanoscience & Nanotechnology2018,2,1: | 1 |
| 11 | Kinetics of magnetite oxidation under non-isothermal conditions显示文摘Oxidation of magnetite concentrates,which occurs during the pellet induration process,must be deeply understood to enable the appropriate design of induration machines.In the present paper,the kinetics of the magnetite oxidation reaction was studied.Primary samples were obtained from the Gol-e-Gohar iron ore deposit.Magnetic separation and flotation decreased the sulfur content in the samples to be approximately 0.1wt%.Thermogravimetric analysis was used to measure mass changes during the oxidation of magnetite and,consequently,the conversion values.The aim of this study was to use isoconversional methods to calculate the kinetic parameters.The Coats–Redfern method was also used to obtain the activation energy.Thermogravimetric analyses were run at three different heating rates.The Coats–Redfern results were too ambiguous for a meaningful interpretation.In the case of the isoconversional method,however,the mean activation energy and pre-exponential factor of the oxidation reaction were obtained as 67.55 kJ and 15.32 × 10~8 min^(-1),respectively.Such a large activation energy implies that temperature strongly affects the reaction rate.The oxidation reaction exhibits a true multi-step nature that is predominantly controlled by chemical reaction and diffusion mechanisms. | Aref Sardari Eskandar Keshavarz Alamdari Mohammad Noaparast Sied Ziaedin Shafaei | 2017 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2017,24,5: | 1 |

| 13 | 纳米微气泡存在下浮选机和浮选柱回收细粒磷酸盐矿物的比较显示文摘细粒浮选一直是许多矿物加工厂面临的主要问题之一。由于细颗粒的气泡粒子碰撞概率很低,因此降低了浮选效率。细粒的存在通常不利于浮选过程,影响了浮选精矿的选择性和质量,而且增加了试剂的消耗量。因此,在大多数加工厂中,会将部分颗粒输送到尾矿池中,以减少这些问题的影响,并提高浮选过程的选择性。由于d80小于30μm的颗粒的存在,使伊朗的Esfordi磷酸盐厂损失了至少30%的处理能力。将这些P_(2)O_(5)含量为15.9%的细颗粒转移到尾矿坝,从经济和环境两方面来看,细颗粒的加工对磷酸盐工业具有重要意义。本文探讨了通过浮选工艺处理磷酸矿选矿厂的细尾矿的问题,尽管传统观点认为超细颗粒不可浮选。根据冶金工艺性能结果,比较了有无纳米气泡(NBs)时,浮选机和浮选柱两种处理工艺下磷酸盐矿物的浮选行为。由于NBs(由水动力空化作用产生)具有有趣的和独特的性能,如高稳定性、耐久性和高比表面积,提高了其在采矿、冶金和环境领域的应用。本研究结果表明,在没有NBs的情况下,使用浮选机工艺获得了P_(2)O_(5)含量为26.9%、回收率为29.13%的精矿,而使用浮选柱工艺,得到的P_(2)O_(5)含量为31.6%,回收率为32.74%的精矿。在NBs存在的情况下,通过浮选机和浮选柱获得精矿的回收率分别为40.49%和41.26%,P_(2)O_(5)含量分别为28.47%和30.43%。对比研究表明,在NBs存在的情况下,与浮选机相比,浮选柱工艺对磷矿的处理效率更高,泡沫层更厚。 | Fatemeh Taghavi Mohammad Noaparast Ziaeddin Pourkarimi Fardis Nakhaei | 2022 | Journal of Central South University2022,29,1: | 0 |
