| 1 | Usefulness of anti-ulcer drugs for the prevention and treatment of peptic ulcers induced by low doses of aspirin显示文摘AIM:To investigate the usefulness of anti-ulcer drugs for the prevention and treatment of low-dose aspirin- induced peptic ulcer. METHODS:Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed in 68 patients receiving daily low-dose aspirin(81 or 100 mg/day).The endoscopic findings were classified according to the Lanza score,and the scores were compared between groups categorized according to the concomitant use of anti-ulcer drugs and the types of drugs used.In another study,31 hemorrhagic peptic ulcer patients who had been receiving low-dose aspirin were enrolled.The patients were randomly classified into the proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-treated group and the H2 receptor antagonist (H2RA)-treated group.The administration of low-dose aspirin was continued concomitantly,and endoscopic examinations were performed 8 wk later. RESULTS:The Lanza scores(mean±SD)of the gastro-mucosal lesions were 1.0±1.9 and 1.9±2.3 in 8 and 16 patients receiving prevention therapy with a PPI and an H2RA,respectively.Both scores were significantly smaller than the scores in 34 patients who were not receiving prevention therapy(4.7±1.0)and in 10 patients receiving cytoprotective anti-ulcer drugs (4.3±1.6).In the prospective study,18 and 13 patients received a PPI and an H2RA,respectively.Endoscopic examinations revealed that the tissue in the region of the gastro-mucosal lesions had reverted to normal in all patients in the PPI-treated group and in 12 patients (92%)in the H2RA-treated group;no significant differences were observed between the groups. | 4 | Distribution and relative activity of matrix metalloproteinase-2 in human coronal dentin显示文摘The presence of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) in dentin has been reported, but its distribution and activity level in mature human coronal dentin are not well understood. The purpose of this study was to determine the MMP-2 distribution and relative activity in demineralized dentin. Crowns of twenty eight human molars were sectioned into inner (ID), middle (MD), and outer dentin (OD) regions and demineralized. MMP-2 was extracted with 0.33 mol·L -1 EDTA/2 mol·L -1 guanidine-HCl, pH 7.4, and MMP-2 concentration was estimated with enzyme-linked immunoabsorbant assay (ELISA). Further characterization was accomplished by Western blotting analysis and gelatin zymography. The mean concentrations of MMP-2 per mg dentin protein in the dentin regions were significantly different (P=0.043): 0.9 ng (ID), 0.4 ng (MD), and 2.2 ng (OD), respectively. The pattern of MMP-2 concentration was OD>ID>MD. Western blotting analysis detected ~66 and ~72 kDa immunopositive proteins corresponding to pro-and mature MMP-2, respectively, in the ID and MD, and a ~66 kDa protein in the OD. Gelatinolytic activity consistent with MMP-2 was detected in all regions. Interestingly, the pattern of levels of Western blot immunodetection and gelatinolytic activity was MD>ID>OD. The concentration of MMP-2 in human coronal dentin was highest in the region of dentin that contains the dentinoenamel junction and least in the middle region of dentin. However, levels of Western blot immunodetection and gelatinolytic activity did not correlate with the estimated regional concentrations of MMP-2, potentially indicating region specific protein interactions. | Lee W. | 5 | WRF Environment Assessment in Guangzhou City with an Extracted Land-use Map from the Remote Sensing Data in 2000 as an Example显示文摘Mesoscale urban environment forecast combined with WRF is a current frontier in international academic. Taking Guangzhou as an example,the new land-use model presented by the present authors,the existing USGS and MODIS models in WRF were firstly compared to the remote sensing model in this article.The comparison result shows that the land-use model presented by the authors has the highest similarity with the remote sensing data. Secondly,the new land-use model was used to replace the defaulted land-use data in WRF for simulation. By comparing this simulation results with the WRF results using the defaulted USGS and MODIS model,it was showed that the geographic models have a great impact on the mesoscale environment forecast result. Also,the geographic information model presented in this article shows the best accuracy when comparing with the observation data.
