1Incidental gallbladder cancer diagnosis confers survival advantage irrespective of tumour stage and characteristics显示文摘BACKGROUND Incidental gallbladder cancer(IGBC)represents 50%-60%of gallbladder cancer cases.Data are conflicting on the role of IGBC diagnosis in oncological outcomes.Some studies suggest that IGBC diagnosis does not affect outcomes,while others that overall survival(OS)is longer in these cases compared to non-incidental diagnosis(NIGBC).Furthermore,some studies reported early tumour stages and histopathologic characteristics as possible confounders,while others not.AIM To investigate the role of IGBC diagnosis on patients’overall survival,especially after surgical treatment with curative intent.METHODS Retrospective analysis of all patient referrals with gallbladder cancer between 2008 and 2020 in a tertiary hepatobiliary centre.Statistical comparison of patient and tumour characteristics between IGBC and NIGBC subgroups was performed.Survival analysis for the whole cohort,surgical and non-surgical subgroups was done with the Kaplan-Meier method and the use of log rank test.Risk analysis was performed with univariable and multivariable Cox regression analysis.RESULTS The cohort included 261 patients with gallbladder cancer.65%of cases had NIGBC and 35%had IGBC.A total of 90 patients received surgical treatment(66%of IGBC cases and 19%of NIGBC cases).NIGBC patients had more advanced T stage and required more extensive resections than IGBC ones.OS was longer in patients with IGBC in the whole cohort(29 vs 4 mo,P<0.001),as well as in the non-surgical(14 vs 2 mo,P<0.001)and surgical subgroups(29 vs 16.5 mo,P=0.001).Disease free survival(DFS)after surgery was longer in patients with IGBC(21.5 mo vs 8.5 mo,P=0.007).N stage and resection margin status were identified as independent predictors of OS and DFS.NIGBC diagnosis was identified as an independent predictor of OS.CONCLUSION IGBC diagnosis may confer a survival advantage independently of the pathological stage and tumour characteristics.Prospective studies are required to further investigate this,including detailed pathological analysis and molecular gene expression.Moath Alarabiyat Syed Soulat Raza John Isaac Darius Mirza Ravi Marudanayagam Keith Roberts Manuel Abradelo David C Bartlett Bobby V Dasari Robert P Sutcliffe Nikolaos A Chatzizacharias 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,18:1

7Machine Learning-based Optimal Framework for Internet of Things Networks显示文摘Deep neural networks(DNN)are widely employed in a wide range of intelligent applications,including image and video recognition.However,due to the enormous amount of computations required by DNN.Therefore,performing DNN inference tasks locally is problematic for resourceconstrained Internet of Things(IoT)devices.Existing cloud approaches are sensitive to problems like erratic communication delays and unreliable remote server performance.The utilization of IoT device collaboration to create distributed and scalable DNN task inference is a very promising strategy.The existing research,on the other hand,exclusively looks at the static split method in the scenario of homogeneous IoT devices.As a result,there is a pressing need to investigate how to divide DNN tasks adaptively among IoT devices with varying capabilities and resource constraints,and execute the task inference cooperatively.Two major obstacles confront the aforementioned research problems:1)In a heterogeneous dynamic multi-device environment,it is difficult to estimate the multi-layer inference delay of DNN tasks;2)It is difficult to intelligently adapt the collaborative inference approach in real time.As a result,a multi-layer delay prediction model with fine-grained interpretability is proposed initially.Furthermore,for DNN inference tasks,evolutionary reinforcement learning(ERL)is employed to adaptively discover the approximate best split strategy.Experiments show that,in a heterogeneous dynamic environment,the proposed framework can provide considerable DNN inference acceleration.When the number of devices is 2,3,and 4,the delay acceleration of the proposed algorithm is 1.81 times,1.98 times and 5.28 times that of the EE algorithm,respectively.Moath Alsafasfeh Zaid A.Arida Omar A.Saraereh 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,6:0
8The influence of tumour vasculature on fluid flow in solid tumours:a mathematical modelling study显示文摘Tumour vasculature is known to be aberrant,tortuous and erratic which can have significant implications for fluid flow.Fluid dynamics in tumour tissue plays an important part in tumour growth,metastasis and the delivery of therapeutics.Mathematical models are increasingly employed to elucidate the complex interplay between various aspects of the tumour vasculature and fluid flow.Previous models usually assume a uniformly distributed vasculature without explicitly describing its architecture or incorporate the distribution of vasculature without accounting for real geometric features of the network.In this study,an integrated computational model is developed by resolving fluid flow at the single capillary level across the whole tumour vascular network.It consists of an angiogenesis model and a fluid flow model which resolves flow as a function of the explicit vasculature by coupling intravascular flow and interstitial flow in tumour tissue.The integrated model has been used to examine the influence of microvascular distribution,necrosis and vessel pruning on fluid flow,as well as the effect of heterogeneous vessel permeability.Our results reveal the level of nonuniformity in tumour interstitial fluid pressure(IFP};with large variations in IFP profile between necrotic and non-necrotic tumours.Changes in microscopic features of the vascular network can significantly influence fluid flow in the tumour where removal of vessel blind ends has been found to reduce IFP and promote interstitial fluid flow.Our results demonstrate the importance of incorporating microscopic properties of the tumour vasculature and intravascular flow when predicting fluid flow in tumour tissue.Moath Alamer Xiao Yun Xu 2021Biophysics Reports2021,7,1:0
9An Improved Dictionary Cracking Scheme Based on Multiple GPUs for Wi-Fi Network显示文摘The Internet has penetrated all aspects of human society and has promoted social progress.Cyber-crimes in many forms are commonplace and are dangerous to society and national security.Cybersecurity has become a major concern for citizens and governments.The Internet functions and software applications play a vital role in cybersecurity research and practice.Most of the cyber-attacks are based on exploits in system or application software.It is of utmost urgency to investigate software security problems.The demand for Wi-Fi applications is proliferating but the security problem is growing,requiring an optimal solution from researchers.To overcome the shortcomings of the wired equivalent privacy(WEP)algorithm,the existing literature proposed security schemes forWi-Fi protected access(WPA)/WPA2.However,in practical applications,the WPA/WPA2 scheme still has some weaknesses that attackers exploit.To destroy a WPA/WPA2 security,it is necessary to get a PSK pre-shared key in pre-shared key mode,or an MSK master session key in the authentication mode.Brute-force cracking attacks can get a phase-shift keying(PSK)or a minimum shift keying(MSK).In real-world applications,many wireless local area networks(LANs)use the pre-shared key mode.Therefore,brute-force cracking of WPA/WPA2-PSK is important in that context.This article proposes a new mechanism to crack theWi-Fi password using a graphical processing unit(GPU)and enhances the efficiency through parallel computing of multiple GPU chips.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is effective and provides a procedure to enhance the security of Wi-Fi networks.Majdi K.Qabalin Zaid A.Arida Omar A.Saraereh Falin Wu Imran Khan Peerapong Uthansakul Moath Alsafasfeh 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,3:0
10Manifestations of COVID-19 infection in children with malignancy:A single-center experience in Jordan显示文摘BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been the cause of a global health crisis since the end of 2019.All countries are following the guidelines and recommendations released by the World Health Organization to decrease the spread of the disease.Children account for only 3%-5%of COVID-19 cases.Few data are available regarding the clinical course,disease severity,and mode of treatment in children with malignancy and COVID-19.AIM To evaluate the treatment plan and outcome of children with malignancy who contracted COVID-19.METHODS A retrospective study of the medical files of patients with malignancy who contracted COVID-19 between July 2020 and June 2021 was performed.The following data were reviewed for all patients:primary disease,laboratory data,admission ward,clinical status upon admission,disease course,treatment plan,and outcome.Eligible patients were those with malignancy who tested positive for COVID-19 by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS A total of 40 patients who had malignancy contracted COVID-19 from July 1,2020 to June 1,2021.Their primary diseases were as follows:34 patients(85%)had hematological malignancies(30 had acute lymphoblastic leukemia,2 had acute myeloblastic leukemia,and 2 had Hodgkin lymphoma),whereas 6 patients(15%)had solid tumors(2 had neuroblastoma,2 had rhabdomyosarcoma,and 2 had central nervous system tumors).Twelve patients(30%)did not need hospitalization and underwent home isolation only,whereas twenty-eight patients(70%)required hospitalization(26 patients were admitted in the COVID-19 ward and 2 were admitted in the pediatric intensive care unit).CONCLUSION COVID-19 with malignancy in the pediatric age group has a benign course and does not increase the risk of having severe infection compared to other children.Mousa Ahmad Qatawneh Moath Altarawneh Ruba Alhazaimeh Mais Jazazi Omaiema Jarrah Alaa Shorman Laila Alsadah Maher Mustafa 2022World Journal of Virology2022,11,5:0
11Formulation and Evaluation of Yemeni Potash Alum as Hydrophilic Topical Preparations against Candidiasis and Aspergillosis显示文摘Background:Skin and soft tissue infections are frequent.Candidiasis and Aspergillosis are the most common cutaneous fungal infections.Yemeni alum(Aluminium Potassium Sulphate)is a natural mineral with antifungal and antibacterial properties.Objective:This study aimed to confirm Yemeni alum’s antifungal effectiveness against selected fungal strains and develop useful topical formulations.Methods:Using different alum concentrations,we prepared twenty-three formulations,including four non-adjusted aqueous solutions,eight adjusted pH aqueous solutions,eight glycerite solutions,and three Oil/Water cream formulations.Then,we examined the antifungal activity against the suggested fungus.The animal skin irritation test evaluated the local skin sensitivity reactions that might happen upon using the formulations we pre-pared on the intact animal’s skin.Additionally,this study also included six weeks of stability testing to estimate the expected shelf life(t90)of the selected formulations.Results:Alum exerted antifungal effect against Candida albicans,Aspergillus niger,and Aspergillus flavus.The animal’s skin was not irritated by any of the formulations examined.The 5%alum aqueous solution and the 10%alum Oil/Water cream exhibited promising results among all tested formulations.The approximate formulation’s shelf-lives(t90)were 2 and 1.52 years with alum content(%)ranging between 105.75%to 106.02%,respectively.Conclusion:Based on the results we found,10%alum Oil/Water cream is a promising formulation for large-scale manufacture.Moath Refat Anes A.M.Thabit Abdul-Rahman Maqboli Hesham Siddick Rafaʼa MAl-Ghozee Abdul-baqi A.Thabet Manar Refat Aiman Saleh A.Mohammed Ahmed Al-Sabati Wu Xin’an 2022Clinical Complementary Medicine and Pharmacology2022,2,4:0
12An Optimized Data Fusion Paradigm for WSN Based on Neural Networks显示文摘Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)have gotten a lot of attention as useful tools for gathering data.The energy problem has been a fundamental constraint and challenge faced by many WSN applications due to the size and cost constraints of the sensor nodes.This paper proposed a data fusion model based on the back propagation neural network(BPNN)model to address the problem of a large number of invalid or redundant data.Using three layeredbased BPNNs and a TEEN threshold,the proposed model describes the cluster structure and filters out unnecessary details.During the information transmission process,the neural network’s output function is used to deal with a large amount of sensing data,where the feature value of sensing data is extracted and transmitted to the sink node.In terms of life cycle,data traffic,and network use,simulation results show that the proposed data fusion model outperforms the traditional TEEN protocol.As a result,the proposed scheme increases the life cycle of the network thereby lowering energy usage and traffic.Moath Alsafasfeh Zaid A.Arida Omar A.Saraereh Qais Alsafasfeh Salem Alemaishat 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,10:0
