1Exercise-induced irisin in bone and systemic irisin administration reveal new regulatory mechanisms of bone metabolism显示文摘Irisin is a polypeptide hormone derived from the proteolytic cleavage of fibronectin-type III domaincontaining 5(FNDC5) protein. Once released to circulation upon exercise or cold exposure, irisin stimulates browning of white adipose tissue(WAT) and uncoupling protein 1(UCP1) expression, leading to an increase in total body energy expenditure by augmented UCP1-mediated thermogenesis. It is currently unknown whether irisin is secreted by bone upon exercise or whether it regulates bone metabolism in vivo. In this study, we found that 2 weeks of voluntary wheel-running exercise induced high levels of FNDC5 messenger RNA as well as FNDC5/irisin protein expression in murine bone tissues. Increased immunoreactivity due to exercise-induced FNDC5/irisin expression was detected in different regions of exercised femoral bones,including growth plate, trabecular bone, cortical bone, articular cartilage, and bone–tendon interface. Exercise also increased expression of osteogenic markers in bone and that of UCP1 in WAT, and led to bodyweight loss. Irisin intraperitoneal(IP) administration resulted in increased trabecular and cortical bone thickness and osteoblasts numbers, and concurrently induced UCP1 expression in subcutaneous WAT. Lentiviral FNDC5 IP administration increased cortical bone thickness. In vitro studies in bone cells revealed irisin increases osteoblastogenesis and mineralization, and inhibits receptor activator of nuclear factor-k B ligand(RANKL)-induced osteoclastogenesis. 3News Keyword Extraction Algorithm Based on Semantic Clustering and Word Graph Model显示文摘The internet is an abundant source of news every day. Thus, efficient algorithms to extract keywords from the text are important to obtain information quickly. However, the precision and recall of mature keyword extraction algorithms need improvement. TextRank, which is derived from the PageRank algorithm, uses word graphs to spread the weight of words. The keyword weight propagation in Text Rank focuses only on word frequency. To improve the performance of the algorithm, we propose Semantic Clustering TextRank(SCTR), a semantic clustering news keyword extraction algorithm based on TextRank. Firstly, the word vectors generated by the Bidirectional Encoder Representation from Transformers(BERT) model are used to perform k-means clustering to represent semantic clustering. Then, the clustering results are used to construct a TextRank weight transfer probability matrix. Finally,iterative calculation of word graphs and extraction of keywords are performed. The test target of this experiment is a Chinese news library. 4Magnetron co-sputtering synthesis and nanoindentation studies of nanocrystalline(TiZrHf)_(x)(NbTa)_(1–x)high-entropy alloy thin films显示文摘Refractory high-entropy alloys(HEAs)possess many useful properties such as high strength and high-temperature stability.So far,most studies on refractory HEAs have been limited to a few well-known compositions and on their coarse-grain bulk forms.Here we fabricate nanocrystalline(TiZrHf)_(x)(NbTa)_(1−x)HEA thin films with a large range of compositions(x=0.07–0.90)by the direct current(DC)magnetron co-sputtering technique and measure their mechanical properties using the nanoindentation method.All the as-deposited HEA thin films show a solid-solution body-centered cubic(bcc)structure.As the compositional ratio(x)increases,the elastic modulus decreases from 153 to 123 GPa,following the trend of the rule of mixture.As x increases,the hardness first decreases from 6.5 GPa(x=0.07)to the lowest value(4.6 GPa,x=0.48)and then increases to the highest value(7.1 GPa,x=0.90),showing a concave trend.The change in hardness might be attributed to the combinational influence caused by the atomic size and modulus effects,as well as the texture effect.The authors also propose a few open questions for future studies on this and related HEA systems.Changjun Cheng Xiaofu Zhang Michel J.R.Haché Yu Zou 2022Nano Research2022,15,6:3
5The Spatial and Temporal Variability of Tropospheric NO_(2) during 2005–14 over China Observed by the OMI显示文摘As improved and accumulated satellite records become available,it is significant to provide up-to-date perspectives on the spatiotemporal signatures of tropospheric nitrogen dioxide(NO2)over China,the knowledge of which is helpful for air pollution control.In this study,the Ozone Monitoring Instrument NO2 dataset for the last 10 years(2005–14)was retrieved to examine multiple aspects of NO2 columns,including distributions,trends,and seasonal cycle.The pattern of average NO2suggests five hotspots with column density higher than 20×1015 molec cm-2:Jing-Jin-Tang;combined southern Hebei and northern Henan;Jinan;the Yangtze River Delta;and the Pearl River Delta.Furthermore,substantial and widespread NO2 growths are distributed over the North China Plain.By contrast,downward trends in NO2 amounts prevail in the megacities of Beijing,Shanghai,and Guangzhou,despite generally high loading levels.Except for the Pearl River Delta,there appears to be temporally consistent behaviors across all regions considered,where NO2 had an abrupt decline during 2008 to 2009,then a drastic increase up to 2013,before beginning to reduce again after 2013.However,the NO2 over the Pearl River Delta is not coevolving with the rest,having experienced a moderate rise from 2005 to 2007,followed by a reduction thereafter.A marked seasonality is apparent,with a maximum in winter and a minimum in summer,regardless of the region.The annual amplitude of NO2 is less pronounced over the Pearl River Delta,whereas the largest range is observed over the combined Southern Hebei and Northern Henan region,induced by enhanced NO2emission in wintertime due to intense domestic heating.WANG Ting WANG Pu-Cai Francois HENDRICK YU Huan Michel VAN ROOZENDAEL 2015Atmospheric and Oceanic Science Letters2015,8,6:2

9Structural analysis of rubble-pile asteroids applied to collisional evolution显示文摘Solar system small bodies come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes,which are achieved following very individual evolutional paths through billions of years.Nevertheless,some common mechanisms can still be found during these processes,e.g.,rubble-pile asteroids tend towards fluid equilibrium as they are reshaped by external disturbances.This paper focuses on the reshaping process of rubble-pile asteroids driven by meteorite impacts.A mesoscale cluster of solid spheres is employed as the principal model for a rubble-pile asteroid,for which little is actually known about their interior structure.We take this simple model as a rough guide to the qualitative aspects of the reshaping processes,and it can reveal,to some degree,the inner workings of rubble-pile asteroids.In our study,numerous possible equilibrium configurations are obtained via Monte Carlo simulation,and the structural stability of these configurations is determined via eigen analysis of the geometric constructions.The eigen decomposition reveals a connection between the cluster’s reactions and the types of external disturbance.Numerical simulations are performed to verify the analytical results.The gravitational N-body code pkdgrav is used to mimic the responses of the cluster under intermittent non-dispersive impacts.We statistically confirm that the stability index I S,the total gravitational potential P G,and the volume of inertia ellipsoid V E show consistent tendency of variation.A common regime is found in which the clusters tend towards crystallization under intermittent impacts,i.e.,only the configurations with high structural stability survive under the external disturbances.The results suggest the trivial non-disruptive impacts might play an important role in the rearrangement of the constituent blocks,which may strengthen these rubble piles and help to build a robust structure under impacts of similar magnitude.The final part of this study consists of systematic simulations over two parameters,the projectile momentum and the rotational speed of the cluster.The results show a critical value exists for the projectile momentum,as predicted by theory,below which all clusters become responseless to external disturbances;and the rotation proves to be significant for it exhibits an“enhancing”effect on loose-packed clusters,which coincides with the observation that several fast-spinning asteroids have low bulk densities.Yang Yu Derek CRichardson Patrick Michel 2017Astrodynamics2017,1,1:2
10Locally transplanted enteric glia improve functional and structural recovery in a rat model of spinal cord injury显示文摘<正>BACKGROUND:We have previously reported that adult enteric glia(EG) facilitate the growth of transected dorsal root axons into the uninjured spinal cord to form functional connections with their targets. OBJECTIVE:The present study investigated the effects of EG on spinal cord function,tissue injury, and axonal regeneration following transplantation into injured rat spinal cords,according to histological and functional outcomes. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized controlled animal experiment was performed at McMaster University,Canada from January 2006 to March 2008. MATERIALS:EG were isolated from rat intestine. METHODS:One week following spinal cord crush,female Wistar rats were injected with an EG suspension(2μL,1×10~5/μL,n=10) or with the same volume of fresh culture medium alone(control animals,n=11).The third group did not receive any injection following laminectomy and served as the sham-operated controls(n=5). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Behavior was tested prior to transplantation and weekly following transplantation,with nine behavioral examinations in total.Open field,hind limb placement response, foot orientation response,and inclined plane test were utilized.Immediately following the final behavioral examination,spinal cord T_9 to L_1 segments were harvested for immunohistochemical and hematoxylin-eosin staining to determine astroglial scarring,axonal regeneration and spinal cord lesion size. RESULTS:Rats with EG transplantation exhibited significantly better locomotor function with reduced tissue damage,compared with the control rats.Cystic cavities were present 2 months after injury in spinal cords from both control groups.In contrast,rats injected with EG did not present with cystic lesions.In addition,the injury site consisted of cellular material and nerve fibers,and axonal regeneration was apparent,with dense labeling of neurofilament-positive axons within the injury site. Moreover,regenerating axons were intimately associated with transplanted EG CONCLUSION:These data indicated that EG enhanced functional improvement,which was associated with reduced tissue damage and axonal regeneration following transplantation into injured spinal cords.Shucui Jiang Mohammad I. 11Inter-individual differences in the responses to aerobic exercise in Alzheimer’s disease: Findings from the FIT-AD trial显示文摘Background:Despite the strong evidence of aerobic exercise as a disease-modifying treatment for Alzheimer’s disease(AD)in animal models,its effects on cognition are inconsistent in human studies.A major contributor to these findings is inter-individual differences in the responses to aerobic exercise,which was well documented in the general population but not in those with AD.The purpose of this study was to examine inter-individual differences in aerobic fitness and cognitive responses to a 6-month aerobic exercise intervention in community-dwelling older adults with mild-to-moderate dementia due to AD.Methods:This study was a secondary analysis of the Effects of Aerobic Exercise for Treating Alzheimer’s Disease(FIT-AD)trial data.Aerobic fitness was measured by the shuttle walk test(SWT),the 6-min walk test(6MWT),and the maximal oxygen consumption(VO2max)test,and cognition by the AD Assessment Scale-Cognition(ADAS-Cog).Inter-individual differences were calculated as the differences in the standard deviation of 6-month change(SDR)in the SWT,6MWT,VO2max,and ADAS-Cog between the intervention and control groups.Results:Seventy-eight participants were included in this study(77.4±6.3 years old,mean±SD;15.7±2.8 years of education;41%were female).VO2max was available for 26 participants(77.7±7.1 years old;14.8±2.6 years of education;35%were female).The SDR was 37.0,121.1,1.7,and 2.3 for SWT,6MWT,VO2max,and ADAS-Cog,respectively.Conclusion:There are true inter-individual differences in aerobic fitness and cognitive responses to aerobic exercise in older adults with mild-tomoderate dementia due to AD.These inter-individual differences likely underline the inconsistent cognitive benefits in human studies.Fang Yu Dereck Salisbury Michelle A.Mathiason 2021Journal of Sport and Health Science2021,10,1:1
