1Phytochemical analysis and antioxidant profile of methanolic extract of seed, pulp and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora Lour.显示文摘Objective: To analyze the phytochemical constituents responsible for the plausible antioxidant effect of methanolic extract of the seed, pulp and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora Lour. Methods: Fresh seed, pulp, and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora fruits were extracted with methanol(MEBRse, MEBRpu, MEBRpe) and evaluated by phytochemical analysis for their content of innumerable metabolites(primary and secondary) viz. carbohydrates, alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, phenols, terpenoids, flavonoids, proteins, and fixed oils. The antioxidant efficacy was assessed through different assay methods viz. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) free radical scavenging activity, total antioxidant capacity(TAC) and reducing power capacity(RPC). Estimation of total phenolic content(TPC), and total flavonoid content(TFC) was also done to confirm the presence of these phytochemicals. Results: It was revealed from the phytochemical analysis of MEBRse that alkaloids, glycosides, carbohydrates, phenols, and flavonoids were present, while that of MEBRpu showed the existence of carbohydrates, proteins, alkaloids, glycosides, phenols, saponins, flavonoids, and fixed oils. Presence of carbohydrates, alkaloids, phenols, tannins, flavonoids, and terpenoids were found in the MEBRpe. A significant antioxidant activity was revealed by the MEBRpu [EC_(50):(27.612 ± 1.375) μg/mL], compared to MEBRpe, and MEBRse in DPPH assay. The ranking order for RPC was MEBRpu > MEBRpe > MEBRse respectively. The EC_(50) value of TAC of the MEBRpu, MEBRpe, and MEBRse were(25.107 ±0.744) μg/mL,(241.127 ± 7.463) μg/mL and(372.364 ± 11.030) μg/mL, respectively. Quantity of TPC and TFC were the highest in the MEBRpu(124.360 ± 2.078 mg GAE/g and 107.527 ±1.900 mg QRE/g extract) rather than MEBRpe and MEBRse extracts. Conclusions: This study suggests that MEBRpu has a significantly higher antioxidant property than MEBRpe and MEBRse. These extracts might be advantageous in prevention or decelerating the progress of different diseases related to oxidative-stress/damage. 3In Silico Evaluation of Potential Ligands of Cancer Cells for Surfactin from Bacillus spp.显示文摘Cancer is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide,which causes significant morbidity and mortality.Designing and developing a potential anti-cancer drug is an active field of research worldwide.Microorganisms have been considered a potential source of anti-cancer drugs.One such microbe-derived compound is surfactin,which shows potential anti-cancer activities.In this study,we evaluated the binding potential of surfactin with several cancer cell ligands via an in-silico approach.Hence,molecular docking studies were performed to test the binding potential of surfactin against four targets.The analyses revealed that surfactin from Bacillus sp.can bind with the targeted ligands(coenzyme A,D-leucine,glycerol,and(R)-3-hydroxytetradecanal)with significant affinity.Surfactin showed the highest binding affinity(-7.7 kcal mol-1)to coenzyme A among the targeted ligands.These results may be useful for developing anti-cancer drugs.Nevertheless,further experimental studies are needed to investigate the ligand binding capacity and anti-cancer potential of such surfactin-like molecules.Mahmuda Akhter Akhi Umme Tamanna Ferdous Md.Fakruddin Suvamoy Datta Md.Asaduzzaman Shishir 2023Proceedings of Anticancer Research2023,7,3:0

5Anti-cancer potential of South Asian plants显示文摘Phyto-chemicals are increasingly being used in the treatment of cancer because of their availability,potential anti-cancer activity with less adverse effects when compared with chemotherapy.The variation of climate and geography in South Asian countries provides a nursing environment for the growth of versatile plant species,that are repeatedly drawing attention of the scientific community.In this review,we have focused on the anti-cancer potential of thirty plants,which are commonly found in Bangladesh,India,Nepal,Pakistan and Sri Lanka,with their mechanisms of action.In particular,we have discussed the bio-active components that display anti-cancer activity,which have been identified in these plants.This review may help researchers to profile plants with known anti-cancer effect of this region and further investigations of anti-cancer agents in medicinal plants from South Asia.Mohammad Mijanur RAHMAN Md.Asaduzzaman KHAN 2013Natural Products and Bioprospecting2013,3,3:0
