| 1 | Blood perfusion of the contralateral testis evaluated with contrast-enhanced ultrasound in rabbits with unilateral testicular torsion显示文摘The changes of blood perfusion of contralateral testis after unilateral testicular torsion remain controversial.In this study,28 New Zealand white male rabbits were randomly divided into five groups.Group A(n=8),the control group,underwent a sham operation on the unilateral testis without inducing testicular torsion.In groups B,C,and D(n=5 each),unilateral testicular torsion was induced,and,after 3,6 or 24 h,respectively,detorsion was performed.In group E(n=5),permanent unilateral testicular torsion was applied.Contrast-enhanced ultrasound was used to observe the blood perfusion of the contralateral testis at the following stages:pre-torsion(preopration),immediately post-torsion(postopration),pre-detorsion,immediately post-detorsion,and late-stage post-detorsion(6-12 h post-detorsion in groups B-D)or at a similar time point(15-21 h post-torsion in group E).Time-intensity curves were generated,and the following parameters were derived and analyzed:arrival time,time to peak intensity,peak intensity,and half-time of the descending peak intensity.The analysis revealed that blood perfusion of the contralateral testis increased immediately after testicular torsion on the opposite side(P<0.05),which increased with prolonged testicular torsion of the other testis.This research demonstrated that contrast-enhanced ultrasound was valuable in evaluating blood perfusion of the contralateral testis after unilateral testicular torsion. | Lin Chen Wei-Wei Zhan Zhou-Jun Shen Wen-Bin Rui Chen Lv Man Chen Jian-Qiao Zhou Ping Zhou Mi Zhou Ying Zhu | 2009 | Asian Journal of Andrology2009，11，2： | 10 |
| 2 | Overview of the Shenzhen Emergency Medical Service Call Pattern显示文摘BACKGROUND:In Shenzhen,the Emergency Medical Service(EMS) system has been in service since 1997.This study aims to examine the operation of Shenzhen 120 EMS center and to identify the reasons of calling EMS.METHODS:In this retrospective quantitative descriptive study,the data from the Shenzhen 120 EMS registry in 2011 were analyzed.RESULTS:Shenzhen 120 EMS center is a communication command center.When the number of 120 are dialed,it is forwarded to the closest appropriate hospital for ambulance dispatch.In2011,the Shenzhen 120 EMS center received 153 160 ambulance calls,with an average of 420 calls per day.Calling emergency services was mainly due to traffic accidents.Trauma and other acute diseases constituted a majority of ambulance transports.The adult patients aged 15-60 years are the principal users of EMS.There are no recognized 'paramedic' doctors and nurses.The pre-hospital emergency service is under the operation of emergency departments of hospitals.Shenzhen at present does not have specialized pre-hospital training for doctors and nurses in posttrauma management.Moreover,specialized pre-hospital training,financial support,and public health education on proper use of EMS should be emphasized.CONCLUSION:The Shenzhen 120 EMS center has its own epidemiology characteristics.Traumatic injury and traffic accident are the main reasons for calling ambulance service.In-depth study emphasizing the distribution and characteristics of trauma patients is crucial to the future development of EMS. | Shuk Man Lo Yi Min Yu Lap Yip Larry Lee Mi Ling Eliza Wong Sek Ying Chair Edward J Kalinowski Tak Shing Jimmy Chan | 2012 | World Journal of Emergency Medicine2012，3，4： | 4 |
| 3 | Improvement of diabetes and hypertension after gastrectomy: A nationwide cohort study显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the effect of gastrectomy on diabetes mellitus(DM) and hypertension(HTN) in non-obese gastric cancer patients. METHODS: A total of 100000 patients, diagnosed with either type 2 DM or HTN, were randomly selected from the 2004 Korean National Health Insurance System claims. Among them, 360 diabetes and 351 hypertensive patients with gastric cancer who had been regularly treated without chemotherapy from January 2005 to December 2010 were selected. They were divided into three groups according to their treatment methods: total gastrectomy(TG), subtotal gastrectomy(STG) and endoscopic resection(ER). RESULTS: The drug discontinuation rate of antidiabetic and anti-hypertensive agents after gastric cancer treatment was 9.7% and 11.1% respectively. DM appeared to be improved more frequently(22.8%) and earlier(mean ± SE 28.6 ± 1.8 mo) in TG group than in the two other groups [improved in 9.5% of ER group(37.4 ± 1.1 mo) and 6.4% of STG group(47.0 ± 0.8 mo)]. The proportion of patients treated with multiple drugs decreased more notably in TG group compared to others(P = 0.001 in DM, and P = 0.035 in HTN). | 9 | Recombinant E.coli LLO/OVA Vaccination Effectively Inhibits Murine Melanoma Metastasis to Lung by CD8^+T Cells Immunity显示文摘Objective:To construct recombinant E.coli LLO/OVA and investigate its tumor metastatic inhibition effect in B16 OVA melanoma challenged mice. Methods:Recombinant E.coli LLO/OVA was constructed and the expression of listeriolysin O(LLO) and ovalbumin(OVA) of the vaccine was determined by coomassie brilliant blue staining and western blotting. After 3 subcutaneous injections of E.coli LLO/OVA,the percentages of CD3+CD4+T,CD4+CD25+T,CD3+CD8+T and OVA257-264 SIINFEKL specific CD8+T cells were determined by flow cytomytry,and the tumor metastatic inhibition effect in B16 OVA melanoma challenged mice was observed. Results:Recombinant E.coli LLO/OVA was successfully constructed,and the expression of LLO and OVA of the vaccine was confirmed. After 3 subcutaneous injections of E.coli LLO/OVA and E.coli OVA in mice,the percentages of CD3+CD4+T,CD4+CD25+T and CD3+CD8+T cells were equivalent in the two groups of mice. However,there were significantly more OVA257-264 SIINFEKL specific CD8+T cells in E.coli LLO/OVA vaccinated mice than that in E.coli OVA vaccinated mice. The prophylactic E.coli LLO/OVA vaccination effectively prevented the tumor metastasis to lungs in B16 OVA melanoma challenged mice. Depletion of CD8+T cells significantly impaired the tumor inhibition effect of the vaccine in B16 OVA challenged mice. The therapeutic vaccination of E.coli LLO/OVA significantly prevented melanoma metastasis to lungs in B16 OVA challenged mice too.
