1Clay mineral composition and their sources for the fluvial sediments of Taiwan Residents rivers显示文摘Located at the collision boundary between the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Continental Plate,the island of Taiwan is generally recognized as an important example in the MARGINS Program Science Plan and 'source-to-sink' research because of its high tectonic activity,heavy rainfall and unique geography.Large suspended sediment loads are transported to the adjacent ocean by Taiwan Residents rivers every year,making Taiwan an important source of sediments into the adjacent seas and a natural laboratory for studying the systemic movement of fluvial sediments from source to sink.A detailed study on the clay mineral composition of surface sediments collected from the drainage basins of 12 Taiwan Residents rivers using X-ray diffraction methods was conducted.Our results indicated that the clay mineral assemblages consisted dominantly of illite(approximately 73%) and chlorite(approximately 24%),with lesser abundances of kaolinite(approximately 3%) and even lower levels of smectite from the Danshuei River sediments in northwestern Taiwan.The Jhuoshuei River sediments from western Taiwan contained clay mineral assemblages that consisted of illite(approximately 75%) and chlorite(approximately 25%),but they lacked kaolinite and smectite.In southwestern Taiwan,the clay mineral assemblages were dominated by illite(approximately 75%) and chlorite(approximately 23%),but had a low abundance of kaolinite(generally < 2%) and no smectite.The clay mineral assemblages in eastern Taiwan are obviously different from those in western parts of the island.The most noticeable difference is that the average abundance of chlorite in the Hualien River from eastern Taiwan was the highest(approximately 48%) of all the Taiwan Residents rivers.We concluded that,in general,the clay mineral assemblages in Taiwan Residents rivers were mainly composed of illite and chlorite with kaolinite and smectite being scarce,and these trends are different from those in China's mainland rivers.The clay mineral composition shown in this study was primarily determined by the properties of the bedrock,and the differential weathering intensities of the drainage area.The surface sediments in Taiwan's rivers showed a greater abundance of illite and chlorite because the outcropped rocks were mainly composed of Tertiary sedimentary rocks,especially sandstone,shale and slate,and show strong physical weathering.The relatively high relief and more abundant rainfall also caused the clay minerals in the fluvial sediments to be transported to the estuaries down rivers from the mountains and then delivered to the adjacent seas by currents and waves over a shorter time scale.LI ChuanShun SHI XueFa KAO ShuhJi CHEN MinTe LIU YanGuang FANG XiSheng LUE HuaHua ZOU JianJun LIU ShengFa QIAO ShuQing 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,6:23
2Euphorbia factor L2 induces apoptosis in A549 cells through the mitochondrial pathway显示文摘Euphorbia factor L2, a lathyrane diterpenoid isolated from caper euphorbia seed(the seeds of Euphorbia lathyris L.), has been traditionally applied to treat cancer. This article focuses on the cytotoxic activity of Euphorbia factor L2 against lung carcinoma A549 cells and the mechanism by which apoptosis is induced. We analyzed the cytotoxicity and related mechanism of Euphorbia factor L2 with an MTT assay, an annexin V-FITC/PI test, a colorimetric assay, and immunoblotting. Euphorbia factor L2 showed potent cytotoxicity to A549 cells. Euphorbia factor L2 led to an increase in reactive oxygen species(ROS) generation,a loss of mitochondrial electrochemical potential, release of cytochrome c, activation of caspase-9 and caspase-3, and cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase, suggesting that Euphorbia factor L2 induced apoptosis through a mitochondrial pathway. 4Exosomes with low miR-34c-3p expression promote invasion and migration of non-small cell lung cancer by upregulating integrinα2β1显示文摘Exosomes play critical roles in regulating various physiological and pathological processes,including immune stimulation,immune suppression,cardiovascular diseases,and cancers.Recent studies show that exosomes that transport specific microRNAs(miRNAs)are involved in tumor development.However,the molecular mechanism by which tumor invasion and migration are regulated by exosomes from non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)is not well understood.Here,we show that exosomes shuttling low levels of miR-34c-3p are involved in NSCLC progression.Our results showed that exosomes derived from NSCLC cells carrying low levels of miR-34c-3p could be transported into the cytoplasm of NSCLC cells and accelerate NSCLC invasion and migration by upregulating integrinα2β1.A luciferase assay revealed that integrinα2β1 was the direct target of miR-34c-3p,and overexpression of integrinα2β1 could promote the invasion and migration of NSCLC cells.The analysis of exosomes derived from clinical serum samples indicated that the expression of miR-34c-3p was significantly downregulated in exosomes from NSCLC patients compared with that of normal controls.A549-derived exosomes promoted NSCLC cells lung metastases in vivo.Exosomes shuttling low levels of miR-34c-3p were associated with the progression of NSCLC in vitro and in vivo.Our data demonstrate that exosomes shuttling low levels of miR-34c-3p can accelerate the invasion and migration of NSCLC by upregulating integrinα2β1.MiR-34c-3p can be a diagnostic and prognostic marker for NSCLC.High expression of integrinα2β1 is positively related to the migration and metastasis of NSCLC cells.Wenjing Huang Yanyan Yan Yun Liu Minting Lin Jinxiang Ma Wei Zhang Jianwei Dai Jiajun Li Qiaoru Guo Hubiao Chen Bolat Makabel Hong Liu Chaoyue Su Hong Bi Jianye Zhang 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:5
5Dissolution kinetics and thermodynamic analysis of vanadium trioxide during pressure oxidation显示文摘The dissolution kinetics of vanadium trioxide in sulphuric acid-oxygen medium was examined. It was determined that the concentration of sulphuric acid and stirring speed above 800 r min 1 did not significantly affect vanadium extraction. The dissolution rate increased with increasing temperature and oxygen partial pressure, but decreased with increasing particle size. The dissolution kinetics was controlled by the chemical reaction at the surface with the estimated activation energy of 43.46 kJ·mol-1. The leaching mechanism was confirmed by characterizing vanadium trioxide and the dissolution residue using SEM-EDS analysis. 6Hydrothermal growth of hydroxyapatite and ZnO bilayered nanoarrays on magnesium alloy surface with antibacterial activities显示文摘Magnesium alloy(MgA)has been extensively used as orthopedic and cardiovascular scaffolds in virtue of its good biocompatibility,unique biodegradability and excellent mechanical properties.However,poor corrosion resistance and easy infection after implantation seriously limit the potential applications of MgA in the biomedical field.Herein,we fabricated bilayered nanoarrays of hydroxyapatite nanorods(HANRs)and ZnO nanorods(ZnONRs)onto the surface of MgA(MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs)via micro-arc oxidation(MAO)treatment,microwave-assisted hydrothermal and hydrothermal methods.The morphology and chemical composition of MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs was characterized by FE-SEM,XRD and EDS,indicating that HANRs-ZnONRs bilayered nanoarrays were fabricated on the surface of MgA-MgO.The surface of MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs exhibited excellent hydrophilicity as evidenced by the low water contact angle of 3°.Compared with the original MgA,the corrosion resistance of MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs was obviously improved with decreasing the corrosive current density(icorr)of 2 orders of magnitude.The MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs performed excellent antibacterial properties with the bactericidal rate of 96.5%against S.aureus and 94.3%against E.coli.Mengke Peng Fenyan Hu Minting Du Bingjie Mai Shurong Zheng Peng Liu Changhao Wang Yashao Chen 2020Frontiers of Materials Science2020,14,1:3
