1Renal function and physical fitness after 12-mo supervised training in kidney transplant recipients显示文摘AIM To evaluate the effect of a 12-mo supervised aerobic and resistance training, on renal function and exercise capacity compared to usual care recommendations.METHODS Ninety-nine kidney transplant recipients(KTRs) were assigned to interventional exercise(Group A; n = 52) and a usual care cohort(Group B; n = 47). Blood and urine chemistry, exercise capacity, muscular strength, anthropometric measures and health-related quality of life(HRQo L) were assessed at baseline, and after 6 and 12 mo. Group A underwent a supervised training three times per week for 12 mo. Group B received only general recommendations about home-based physical activities.RESULTS Eighty-five KTRs completed the study(Group A, n = 44; Group B, n = 41). After 12 mo, renal function remained stable in both groups. Group A significantly increased maximum workload(+13 W, P = 0.0003), V'O2 peak(+3.1 mL/kg per minute, P = 0.0099), muscular strength in plantar flexor(+12 kg, P = 0.0368), height in the countermovement jump(+1.9 cm, P = 0.0293) and decreased in Body Mass Index(-0.5 kg/m^2, P = 0.0013). HRQo L significantly improved in physical function(P = 0.0019), physical-role limitations(P = 0.0321) and social functioning scales(P = 0.0346). Noimprovements were found in Group B.CONCLUSION Twelve-month of supervised aerobic and resistance training improves the physiological variables related to physical fitness and cardiovascular risks without consequences on renal function. Recommendations alone are not sufficient to induce changes in exercise capacity of KTRs. 2A human translational model based on neuroplasticity for pharmacological agents potentially effective in Treatment-Resistant Depression: focus on dopaminergic system显示文摘Major depressive disorder(MDD)is a common psychiatric condition characterized by two main symptoms,low mood and anhedonia.About 15–30%of people suffering from MDD do not respond to standard-of-care antidepressants,e.g.,the serotonin re-uptake inhibitors(SSRI),and are considered affected by Treatment-Resistant Depression(TRD).The neurobiology of this condition is presently unknown.Recent attempts of developing novel treatments for TRD have been driven by four major breakthroughs:(1)Increasing dopaminergic neurotransmission improves TRD symptoms;(2)Anhedonia occurs when central dopaminergic neurotransmission is low;(3)Enhanced neuroplasticity is critical for the action of antidepressants;(4)Ketamine shows antidepressant properties in TRD patients and triggers neuroplasticity in preclinical animal models.These breakthroughs are at the basis of a putative human translational cellular model for antidepressant agents that we are proposing in this article.The rationale is briefly described here.Ginetta Collo Emilio Merlo Pich 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,6:4

4Chemical and spectroscopic characterization of humic substances from sediment and riparian soil of a highly polluted urban river (Suquía River, Cordoba, Argentina)显示文摘The Suquía River,the largest urban river in C ordoba(Argentina),has been severely polluted for decades.Actions must be taken to restore its environmental quality by managing riparian zones for increased water-self purification.The current study aimed to characterize organic matter(OM)dynamics and humic substances(HS)spectrochemical properties along the lower-middle basin of the Suquía River.Riparian soil(0e20 cm)and sediment(0e10 cm)samples were collected from a reference location(S1)and four polluted sites(S2eS5)during a low-flow period.The contents of soil and sedimentary OM and HS fractions were analyzed by wet oxidation,as well as HS Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)and ultravioletevisible(UVeVis)spectrochemical properties.The OM and HS fractions from riparian soil were high upstream of C ordoba City(S1 and S2,50.2e50.4 g/kg OM)and within a 50 km downstream location(S5,30.9 g/kg OM)owing to a surplus of fresh plant biomass-carbon(C)inputs.Highly heterogeneous sediment samples did not show any significant differences among sites(P>0.05).The lowest values of the ratio of absorbances at 465 and 665 nm(E4/E6)(1.78)and the Δ log K(0.15)coefficient(a measure of HS maturity degree)were obtained downstream of C ordoba City,for both riparian soil and sediment,indicating that HS were enriched by more condensed aromatic structures within highly degraded portions of the river.All samples exhibited similar IR spectra,implying overlapping recalcitrant-C structures at the functional group level,but with different absorbance intensity.Data from the current study constitute a baseline for understanding the chemical nature of HS from sediment and riparian soil along the Suquía River and can be used as a reference for future studies tracking OM compositional changes over time.Carolina Merlo Carolina Vázquez Ana Graciela Iriarte Carlos Matías Romero 2020International Journal of Sediment Research2020,35,3:3
