1Enhanced photocatalytic activity of Ce-doped ZnO nanopowders synthesized by combustion method显示文摘Facile and fast combustion method was used to synthesize Zn O and Ce-doped Zn O(CZO) nanocrystalline powders photocatalysts with different cerium concentrations(0.5 wt.%–10.0 wt.%) followed by calcination at 700 oC for 3 h. The prepared samples were characterized by a variety of characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) combined with energy dispersive X-ray diffraction(EDX), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), UV-visible spectroscopy, BET surface area analyser and photoluminescence spectroscopy(PL), to study the crystal structure, surface morphology, chemical composition and optical properties. It was observed from XRD results that synthesized powders had hexagonal wurtzite structure with the smallest crystallite size about 13 nm. Absorption spectra showed that cerium doping enhanced the light absorption properties towards the visible light region. Photoluminescence spectra for Ce-doped Zn O samples exhibited relatively weak near band edge(NBE) emission peaks as compared to that of pristine Zn O. The photocatalytic activities of the prepared samples were evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B(Rh B) under UV light and visible light(λ≥420 nm) irradiation. The textile mill effluent containing organic matters was also treated under sunlight using photocatalysis and the reduction in the chemical oxygen demand(COD) of the treated effluent revealed a complete destruction of the organic molecules along with colour removal. The results showed that the CZO photocatalyst doped with 3.0 wt.% cerium exhibited four times enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pure Zn O. The enhanced photocatalytic activity could be attributed to extended visible light absorption and inhibition of the electron-hole pair's recombination.M.Ahmad E.Ahmed Fezza Zafar N.R.Khalid N.A.Niaz Abdul Hafeez M.Ikram M.Ajmal Khan 洪樟连 2015Journal of Rare Earths2015,33,3:13
2Comparison of Fission Induced by Protons and Pions显示文摘We compare the properties of fission induced by protons and pions.Three different methodologies are used to make this comparison.First,it is shown that pion-induced fission cross sections are not much different in magnitude from proton-induced fission cross sections at the same beam kinetic energy.Secondly, across the pion-nucleon(3,3)resonance so prominent with free nucleons,it has been observed that there is no significant change in the reaction mechanism in the case of pions.Thirdly,it is noted that an empirical expression used for evaluations of proton-induced fission cross sections is also valid for positive pion-induced fission cross sections,at least for actinide nuclei.Fission cross sections computed using a cascade-exciton model code for ^(209)Bi and ^(238)U are also compared with the experimental data available.Zafar Yasin M.Ikram Shahzad 2011Chinese Physics Letters2011,28,8:0
3Mass dependence of pion-induced fission cross sections on the level density parameter显示文摘Fission probabilities and fission cross sections strongly depend on the mass number of the target and energy of the projectile. In this research work,a cascade-exciton model(using CEM95 computer code) has been implemented to observe the dependence of pion-induced fission cross sections and fission probabilities on the target mass and ratio of the level density parameter in fission to neutron emission. The analysis has been performed for both the positive and negative pions as the projectile at 80,100 and 150 MeV energies. The computed cross sections satisfactorily reproduced the experimental findings when compared with the available experimental data in the literature. We observed a smooth dependence at 150 MeV,and a sharper dependence at 80 and 100 MeV pion energy,in the fissility region above 29.44.Zafar Yasin Warda Iram M.Ikram Shahzad 2012Chinese Physics C2012,36,9:0
