1A review of hydrogen technologies and engineering solutions for railway vehicle design and operations显示文摘Interest in hydrogen-powered rail vehicles has gradually increased worldwide over recent decades due to the global pressure on reduction in greenhouse gas emissions,technology availability,and multiple options of power supply.In the past,research and development have been primarily focusing on light rail and regional trains,but the interest in hydrogen-powered freight and heavy haul trains is also growing.The review shows that some technical feasibility has been demonstrated from the research and experiments on proof-of-concept designs.Several rail vehicles powered by hydrogen either are currently operating or are the subject of experimental programmes.The paper identifies that fuel cell technology is well developed and has obvious application in providing electrical traction power,while hydrogen combustion in traditional IC engines and gas turbines is not yet well developed.The need for on-board energy storage is discussed along with the benefits of energy management and control systems.Yan Sun M.Anwar N.M.S.Hassan Maksym Spiryagin Colin Cole 2021Railway Engineering Science2021,29,3:4
2Numerical investigations of asymmetric flow of a micropolar fluid between two porous disks显示文摘Numerical solution is presented for the two-dimensionalflow of a micropolar fluid between two porouscoaxial disks of different permeability for a range of Reynoldsnumber Re (—300 ≤Re < 0) and permeability parameterA (1.0 ≤ A≤2.0). The main flow is superimposed bythe injection at the surfaces of the two disks. Von Karman'ssimilarity transformations are used to reduce the governingequations of motion to a set of non-linear coupled ordinarydifferential equations (ODEs) in dimensionless form. Analgorithm based on the finite difference method is employedto solve these ODEs and Richardson's extrapolation is usedto obtain higher order accuracy. The results indicate that theparameters Re and A have a strong influence on the velocityand microrotation profiles, shear stresses at the disks and theposition of the viscous/shear layer. The micropolar materialconstants c1, c2, c3 have profound effect on microrotationas compared to their effect on streamwise and axial velocityprofiles. 4Estimation and comparison of night-time OH levels in the UK urban atmosphere using two different analysis methods显示文摘Night-time OH levels have been determined for UK urban surface environments using two methods,the decay and steady state approximation methods.Measurement data from the UK National Environmental Technology Centre archive for four urban sites(Bristol,Harwell,London Eltham and Edinburgh) over the time period of 1996 to 2000 have been used in this study.Three reactive alkenes,namely isoprene,1,3-butadiene and trans-2-pentene were chosen for the calculation of OH levels by the decay method.Hourly measurements of NO,NO2,O3,CO and 20 VOCs were used to determine night-time OH level using the steady state approximation method.Our results showed that the night-time OH levels were in the range of 1×105-1×106 molecules/cm3 at these four urban sites in the UK.The application of a t-test of these analyses indicated that except Bristol,there was no significant difference between the OH levels found from the decay and steady state approximation methods.Night-time levels of the OH radical appeared to peak in summer and spring time tracking the night-time O3 levels which also passed through a maximum at this time.M.Anwar H.Khan M.M.Nazmul Hoque S.Shamsul Alam M.J.Ashfold Graham Nickless Dudley E.Shallcross 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,1:1
5Analysis of strong refractive effect within 11Li projectile structure显示文摘In the context of the double folding optical model,the strong refractive effect for elastic scattering of 11Li+12C and 11Li+28Si systems at incident energies of 29,50,and 60 MeV/n is studied.Real folded potentials are generated based on a variety of nucleon-nucleon interactions with the suggested density distributions for the halo structure of 11Li nuclei.The rearrangement term(RT)of the extended realistic density dependent CDM3Y6 effective interaction is considered.The imaginary potential was taken in the traditional standard Woods-Saxon form.Satisfactory results for the calculated potentials are obtained,with a slight effect of the RT in CDM3Y6 potential.Successful reproduction with a normalization factor close to one for the observed angular distributions of the elastic scattering differential cross section has been achieved using the derived potentials.The obtained reaction cross-section is studied as a guide by extrapolating our calculations and previous results.Kassem O.Behairy M.El-Azab Farid Awad A.Ibraheem Ola Ramadan M.Anwar 2021Chinese Physics C2021,45,2:0
6BioCluster:Tool for Identification and Clustering of Enterobacteriaceae Based on Biochemical Data显示文摘Presumptive identification of different Enterobacteriaceae species is routinely achieved based on biochemical properties. Traditional practice includes manual comparison of each biochemical property of the unknown sample with known reference samples and inference of its identity based on the maximum similarity pattern with the known samples. This process is laborintensive, time-consuming, error-prone, and subjective. Therefore, automation of sorting and similarity in calculation would be advantageous. Here we present a MATLAB-based graphical user interface(GUI) tool named Bio Cluster. This tool was designed for automated clustering and identification of Enterobacteriaceae based on biochemical test results. In this tool, we used two types of algorithms, i.e., traditional hierarchical clustering(HC) and the Improved Hierarchical Clustering(IHC), a modified algorithm that was developed specifically for the clustering and identification of Enterobacteriaceae species. IHC takes into account the variability in result of 1–47 biochemical tests within this Enterobacteriaceae family. This tool also provides different options to optimize the clustering in a user-friendly way. Using computer-generated synthetic data and some real data, we have demonstrated that Bio Cluster has high accuracy in clustering and identifying enterobacterial species based on biochemical test data. 7Characterization of Endophytic Microorganisms of Rice(Oryza sativa L.)Potentials for Blast Disease Biocontrol and Plant Growth Promoting Agents显示文摘One hundred twenty-five endophytic microorganisms were isolated from the roots,stems,and leaves of four prominent rice cultivars growing in temperate regions.Their potential to combat rice blast disease and promote plant growth was investigated.The dual culture tests highlighted the strong antagonistic activity of five fungal(ranging from 89%–70%)and five bacterial(72%–61%)endophytes.Subsequent examination focused on volatile compounds produced by selected isolates to counter the blast pathogen.Among these,the highest chitinase(13.76μg mL−1)and siderophore(56.64%),was exhibited by Aspergillus flavus,and the highest HCN production was shown by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia(36.15μM mL−1).In terms of growth promotion traits,Aspergillus flavus and Enterobacter cloacae excelled in activities viz,phosphorous solubilization,ammonia production,auxin and gibberellic acid production,and nitrogen fixation.The Identity of these endophytes was confirmed through molecular analysis as Trichoderma afroharzianum,Trichoderma harzianum,Penicillium rubens,Aspergillus flavus,Stenotrophomonas rhizophila,Stenotrophomonas maltophilia,Bacillus cereus,Enterobacter cloacae,and Bacillus licheniformis.Under greenhouse conditions,the highest disease control was shown by isolate Bacillus licheniformis and A.flavus with an inhibition of 79%,followed by S.rhizophila(77%)and T.afroharzianum(73%).The overall results of this study showed that Bacillus licheniformis and Stenotrophomonas rhizophila have great potential to be used as bio-stimulant and biocontrol agents to manage rice blast disease.Shugufta Parveen Fayaz A.Mohiddin M.Ashraf Bhat Zahoor Ahmed Baba Fehim Jeelani M.Anwar Bhat Sajad Un Nabi Burhan Hamid Saba Bandey Farhanaz Rasool Zakir Amin Ibrahim Al-Ashkar Muhammad Adnan Ayman El Sabagh 2023Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2023,92,11:0
