| 2 | Comparison of integrated Chinese and Western medicine with and without somatostatin supplement in the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of the combined use of early short-term somatostatin and conventional integrated Chinese and Western medicine in treating severe acute pancreatitis.METHODS: Sixty patients with severe acute pancreatitis were divided at random into a somatostatin group and a basic treatment group. Both groups received integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine without surgery.For patients in the somatostatin group, somatostatin was infused intravenously 250 μg/h for 72 h; other medications were the same as in the basic treatment group. In both groups, comparisons of therapeutic effectiveness were made in terms of morbidity of organic dysfunction and mortality rate, and severity of the disease according to serum levels of C-reaction protein, scores of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation (APACHE Ⅱ), and scores of Balthazar-CT.RESULTS: The indexes for C-reaction protein levels on the fourth and seventh days, and APACHE Ⅱ scores on the seventh day after treatment, were significantly improved in the somatostatin group than in the basic treatment group. The morbidity of organic dysfunction was lower in the somatostatin group than in the basic treatment group, although the difference was not statistically significant. | 3 | Shipborne Underwater Acoustic Communication System and Sea Trials with Submersible Shenhai Yongshi显示文摘The Shipborne acoustic communication system of the submersible Shenhai Yongshi works in vertical, horizontal and slant channels according to the relative positions. For ease of use, an array combined by a vertical-cone directional transducer and a horizontal-toroid one is installed on the mothership. Improved techniques are proposed to combat adverse channel conditions, such as frequency selectivity, non-stationary ship noise, and Doppler effects of the platform's nonlinear movement. For coherent modulation, a turbo-coded single-carrier scheme is used. In the receiver, the sparse decision-directed Normalized Least-Mean-Square soft equalizer automatically adjusts the tap pattern and weights according to the multipath structure, the two receivers' asymmetry, the signal's frequency selectivity and the noise's spectrum fluctuation. The use of turbo code in turbo equalization significantly suppresses the error floor and decreases the equalizer's iteration times, which is verified by both the extrinsic information transfer charts and bit-error-rate performance. For noncoherent modulation, a concatenated error correction scheme of nonbinary convolutional code and Hadamard code is adopted to utilize full frequency diversity. Robust and lowcomplexity synchronization techniques in the time and Doppler domains are proposed. Sea trials with the submersible to a maximum depth of over 4500 m show that the shipborne communication system performs robustly during the adverse conditions. | 5 | Designing method of acceleration and deceleration control schedule for variable cycle engine显示文摘Studies show that different geometries of a Variable Cycle Engine(VCE)can be adjusted during the transient stage of the engine operation to improve the engine performance.However,this improvement increases the complexity of the acceleration and deceleration control schedule.In order to resolve this problem,the Transient-state Reverse Method(TRM)is established in the present study based on the Steady-state Reverse Method(SRM)and the Virtual Power Extraction Method(VPEM).The state factors in the component-based engine performance models are replaced by variable geometry parameters to establish the TRM for a double bypass VCE.Obtained results are compared with the conventional component-based model from different aspects,including the accuracy and the convergence rate.The TRM is then employed to optimize the control schedule of a VCE.Obtained results show that the accuracy and the convergence rate of the proposed method are consistent with that of the conventional model.On the other hand,it is found that the new-model-optimized control schedules reduce the acceleration and deceleration time by 45%and 54%,respectively.Meanwhile,the surge margin of compressors,fuel–air ratio and the turbine inlet temperature maintained are within the acceptable criteria.It is concluded that the proposed TRM is a powerful method to design the acceleration and deceleration control schedule of the VCE. | Linyuan JIA Yuchun CHEN Ronghui CHENG Tian TAN Reran SONG | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,5: | 5 |

| 9 | Totally homogeneous networks显示文摘In network science,the non-homogeneity of node degrees has been a concerning issue for study.Yet,with today’s modern web technologies,the traditional social communication topologies have evolved from node-central structures into online cycle-based communities,urgently requiring new network theories and tools.Switching the focus from node degrees to network cycles could reveal many interesting properties from the perspective of totally homogenous networks or sub-networks in a complex network,especially basic simplexes(cliques)such as links and triangles.Clearly,compared with node degrees,it is much more challenging to deal with network cycles.For studying the latter,a new clique vector-space framework is introduced in this paper,where the vector space with a basis consisting of links has a dimension equal to the number of links,that with a basis consisting of triangles has the dimension equal to the number of triangles and so on.These two vector spaces are related through a boundary operator,for example mapping the boundary of a triangle in one space to the sum of three links in the other space.Under the new framework,some important concepts and methodologies from algebraic topology,such as characteristic number,homology group and Betti number,will play a part in network science leading to foreseeable new research directions.As immediate applications,the paper illustrates some important characteristics affecting the collective behaviors of complex networks,some new cycle-dependent importance indexes of nodes and implications for network synchronization and brain-network analysis. | Dinghua Shi Linyuan Lu Guanrong Chen | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,5: | 4 |

| 16 | Protective effects of sodium butyrate on rotavirus inducing endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated apoptosis via PERK-eIF2αsignaling pathway in IPEC-J2 cells显示文摘Background:Rotavirus(RV)is a major pathogen that causes severe gastroenteritis in infants and young animals.Endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress and subsequent apoptosis play pivotal role in virus infection.However,the protective mechanisms of intestinal damage caused by RV are poorly defined,especially the molecular pathways related to enterocytes apoptosis.Thus,the aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect and mechanism of sodium butyrate(SB)on RV-induced apoptosis of IPEC-J2 cells.Results:The RV infection led to significant cell apoptosis,increased the expression levels of ER stress(ERS)markers,phosphorylated protein kinase-like ER kinase(PERK),eukaryotic initiation factor 2 alpha(eIF2α),caspase9,and caspase3.Blocking PERK pathway using specific inhibitor GSK subsequently reversed RV-induced cell apoptosis.The SB treatment significantly inhibited RV-induced ERS by decreasing the expression of glucose regulated protein 78(GRP78),PERK,and eIF2α.In addition,SB treatment restrained the ERS-mediated apoptotic pathway,as indicated by downregulation of C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP)mRNA level,as well as decreased cleaved caspase9 and caspase3 protein levels.Furthermore,siRNA-induced GPR109a knockdown significantly suppressed the protective effect of SB on RV-induced cell apoptosis.Conclusions:These results indicate that SB exerts protective effects against RV-induced cell apoptosis through inhibiting ERS mediated apoptosis by regulating PERK-eIF2αsignaling pathway via GPR109a,which provide new ideas for the prevention and control of RV. | Ye Zhao Ningming Hu Qin Jiang Li Zhu Ming Zhang Jun Jiang Manyi Xiong Mingxian Yang Jiandong Yang Linyuan Shen Shunhua Zhang Lili Niu Lei Chen Daiwen Chen | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,4: | 2 |
