| 1 | Effect of intestinal ischemia-reperfusion on expressions of endogenous basic fibroblast growth factor and transforming growth factor β in lung and its relation with lung repair显示文摘AIM To study the changes of endogenoustransforming growth factor β(TGFβ)and basicfibroblast growth factor(bFGF)in lung followingintestinal ischemia and reperfusion injury andtheir effects on lung injury and repair.METHODS Sixty Wistar rats were divided intofive groups, which underwent sham-operation,ischemia(45 minutes),and reperfusion(6,24and 48 hours, respectively)after ischemia(45minutes).Immunohistochemical method wasused to observe the localization and amounts ofboth growth factors.RESULTS Positive signals of both growthfactors could be found in normal lung, mainly inalveolar cells and endothelial cells of vein.Afterischemia and reperfusion insult, expressions ofboth growth factors were increased and theiramounts at 6 hours were larger than those ofnormal control or of 24 and 48 hours after insult.CONCLUSION The endogenous bFGF and TGF βexpression appears to be up-regulated in thelung following intestinal ischemia andreperfusion, suggesting that both growth factorsmay be involved in the process of lung injury andrepair. | Xiao Bing Fu Yin Hui Yang Tong Zhu Sun Xiao Man Gu Li Xian Jiang Xiao Oing Sun Zhi Yong Sheng Research Laboratory,304th Hospital of PLA,Beijing 100037,China | 2000 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,3: | 21 |
| 2 | Oligomeric Procyanidins Induce Generation of Reactive Oxygen Species and Collapse of Mitochchondrial Membrane Potential in Glioblastoma Cell Lines显示文摘Objective The aim of the present study was to clarify the mechanism underlying glioma cell death upon oligomeric procyanidins (F2) exposure. Methods The cytotoxicity of F2 on U87 (human malignant glioblastoma cell line) and C6 (rat glioma cell line) cancer cells was evaluated, and changes of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in drug-treated cells were monitored. Moreover, morphological changes associated with F2-induced cells death were examined. Results F2 induced a concentration-dependent increase in ROS production and decrease in MMP. Furthermore, pre-incubation with N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and rotenone (Rt), resulted in partial inhibition of F2-induced ROS generation and marked attenuation of cell death and the cytoplasmic vacuolization induced by F2. In addition, pretreatment with Rt markedly attenuated the MMP loss in F2-treated cells. However, pretreatment with NAC only markedly attenuated the MMP loss in F2-treated C6 cells. Conclusion The increase in ROS level is at least one of mechanisms associated with F2-induced glioma cell death as well as the cytoplasmic vacuolization formation that contribute to the cytotoxicity of F2 in glioma cells. | ZHANG Feng-jiao1, YANG Jing-yu1, MOU Yan-hua1, SUN Bao-shan2, WANG Ji-ming3, WANG Fang1, WU Chun-fu1 1. | 3 | Selenocysteine tRNAs as Central Components of Selenoprotein Biosynthesis in Eukaryotes显示文摘Selenocysteine (Sec) tRNAs serve as carrier molecules for the biosynthesis of Sec from serine and to donate Sec to protein in response to specific UGA codons. In this study, we describe the current status of Sec tRNAs in higher animals and further we exarnine: (i) the Sec tRNA population in Drosophila; (ii) transcription of the Sec tRNA in vivo (in Xenopus oocytes) and in vitro (in Xenopus oocyte extracts); (iii) the effect of selenium on the Sec tRNA population in various rat tissues following replenishment of extremely selenium deficient rats with this element; and (iv) the biosynthesis of the modified bases on Sec tRNA in Xenopus | SANG ICK PARK JIN Mo PARK HAROLD S. | 5 | Preparation of MCM-41 in Industrial Scale and Its Application in Heavy Oil Processing显示文摘A series of MCM 41 molecular sieves have been prepared on an industrial scale, and the effect of preparation factors such as aging temperature, pH values on the structure and pore distribution of the MCM 41 product have been studied by using X ray diffraction(XRD), thermogravimetric(TG) and electron microscopy(TEM). It is shown that the pH values have a significant effect on the crystallinity of the synthesized product. Under proper conditions, the MCM 41 prepared on an industrial scale has the same performance as the samples prepared on an Lab scale. The prepared MCM 41 was used as a modifier of zeolite Y for fluid catalytic cracking(FCC) of residual oil. It is shown that the addition of the MCM 41 in the zeolite Y catalyst increases the pore size, and surface area of the catalysts, which helps to increase the yield of gasoline and diesel and decrease the production of gaseous product and carbon deposition in the catalyst. The better performance of the MCM 41 modified zeolite Y catalyst is believed to be due to its adjustment on the acidity and increase of the pore size. | Jianwen Da 1,2 , Tiancun Xiao 2, Jianming Su 1, Xingzhong Xu 1 and Malcolm. | 6 | Magnetic, Geochemical and Mineralogical Charac teristics of Soils in Qiangtang Basin, Tibet, China: Implications for Prospective Oil and Gas Land显示文摘The alteration of iron bearing minerals induced by hydrocarbon microseepage above oil/gas reservoirs has been evaluated using measurements of soil magnetic susceptibility κ , geochemical compositions (gas hydrocarbon and alteration carbonate Δ C ), and composition and concentration of iron bearing minerals. The analyses were performed along two profiles across the Qiangtang basin in Tibet, China: the Nuoermahu Xuehuanhu profile (C) and the Mugari Huochetoushan profile (E). Results show that three strong magnetic anomalies (C 1, E 1 and E 2 anomalies) are related to the distribution of Neogene volcanic rocks on the surface in the Gangmacuo Xiyaergang uplift. Two other anomalies (C 2 and E 4 anomalies), characterized by both moderately amplitude magnetic susceptibility and elevated soil gas hydrocarbons, occur near fault zones in the Cuoni Donghu synclinorium. These latter anomalies display characteristics of hydrocarbon microseepage anomalies commonly associated with oil and gas accumulations. Their presence in the Cuoni Donghu synclinorium suggests that parts of the Qiangtang basin may have significant petroleum potential. | Liu Qingsheng Department of Geophysics, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074 The State Key Laboratory of Oil/Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation of China, Institute of Chengdu Technology, Chengdu 610059 Wu Qifan Li Haixia Department o | 2001 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2001,12,2: | 1 |
| 7 | Almandine megacrysts from Yingfengling Cenozoic basalt in Leizhou Peninsula and their parental magma origin显示文摘The garnet megacrysts from Yingfengling basalts are characterlzed by high FeO (>20%), CaO (7.02% -8.16%) and low MgO (5.88%-10.87%). Significant composition variations are observed in these megacrysts, of which Ni, V, Sc, Co, and HREE are positively correlated with their Mg# and Zr, Hf, Ga, Y, Sr, Nb, Zn and LREE-MREE are negatively correlated with Mg#. Megacryst parent magma is a highly evolved residual melt with strongl depletion in Ti, Sr, Hf, Nb and HREE. This parental magma was generated by more than 60% of crystallization fractionation of clinopyroxene, garnet, plagioclase and ilmenite from quartz tholeiitic magma. It has not erupted to the surface, but stayed at the upper mantle and formed the megacrystic cumulate. Megacrysts and their host basalt are in disequilibrium. | YU Jinhai & S. Y. O’Reilly1. | 11 | Dilepton production in baryon-rich quark-gluon matter显示文摘From the full stopping scenario and considered the Drell-Yang background, the rapidity dependence of the dilepton production from the central collision 197Au + 197Au has been studied in the baryon-rich quark-gluon matter by using a relativistic hydrodynamic model. It can be found that the dilepton yield is strongly suppressed as increasing the rapidity. Such a characteristic signaling the formation of the baryon-rich quark-gluon matter can be tested in future experiments at CERN and Brookhaven. | He Ze-Jun Zhang Jia-Ju Jiang Wei-Zhou and Liu Bo (CCAST World Laboratory P.
