1Geochemical characteristics and formation process of natural gas in Kela 2 gas field显示文摘On the basis of a large amount of natural gascomponents and the carbon isotope as well as some otheranalysis data in Kela 2 gas field, the geochemical character-istics, source, origin, and formation process of natural gashave been discussed. The components of gas in the field tendto be 'dry', and the drying coefficient is close to 1.0. Thecarbon isotope tends to be heavier, for instance, the averageof δ13C1 is -27.36‰ and that ofδ13C2 is -18.5‰. Compre-hensive analysis shows that humic natural gas in the Kuqapetroleum system comes mainly from Triassic and Jurassicsource rocks, and the contribution of Jurassic source rocks tothe pool maybe is more than that of Triassic rocks. The maincause that the gas tends to be dry and bears heavier isotopecomposition lies in the fact that Kela 2 natural gas is the ac-cumulation of late production of humic source rocks, and itis affected by the abnormal high pressure as well. 2Reservoir Characteristics of Lacustrine Shale and Marine Shale:Examples from the Songliao Basin,Bohai Bay Basin and Qiannan Depression显示文摘Lacustrine shale from the Qingshankou Formatin of Songliao basin and the Shahejie Formation of Bohai Bay basin, and marine shale from the lower Cambrian Jiumenchong Formation of Qiannan depression were analysed by using rock pyrolysis, TOC(total organic carbon), XRD(X-ray diffraction), SEM(scanning electron microscope), FE-SEM(field emission scanning electron microscope), high pressure mercury intrusion, and low pressure N_2 and CO_2 gas adsorption experiments, in aim to reveal their reservoir features. The results show that:(1) the width of micro-pores of all the studied samples mainly ranges from 0.45 to 0.7 nm indicated by CO_2 isotherms, and the width of meso-pores is less than 10 nm, with type IV adsorption isotherms and type H2 hysteresis loop, indicative of 'ink-bottle'-shaped pores. Good correlations exist among pore volume, surface area and averaged pore diameter, and a good positive correlation exists between micro-pore volume and TOC content; however, there is no obvious correlation between meso-pore volume and TOC content;(2) interparticle pores, pores among the edge of mineral grains and organic matter pores were all identified in marine and lacustrine shale, among which the interparticle pores may be influence by dissolution effect. Not all bitumen develops organic matter pore, and only high to over mature bitumen present pores. Now the description methods of micrometer scale pores developed in shale are very lack. 3Pore Types and Quantitative Evaluation of Pore Volumes in the Longmaxi Formation Shale of Southeast Chongqing, China显示文摘The common microscale to nanoscale pore types were introduced and divided into organic and inorganic pores to estimate their contributions to porosity in the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation shale of southeast Chongqing. Following the material balance principle, the organic porosity values, which changed with formation subsidence and thermal evolution, were calculated using chemical kinetics methods and corrected via the organic porosity correction coefficient, which was obtained from field emission scanning electron microscopy. Grain density values were determined using the contents and true densities of compositions in the shale samples. The total porosity was calculated based on the grain and bulk densities. The inorganic porosity was determined from the difference between the total porosity and organic porosity at the same depth. The results show that inorganic pores mainly contain microfractures, microchannels, clay intergranular pores, intercrystalline pores and intracrystalline pores in the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation shale of southeast Chongqing. Organic pores mainly include organopore and fossil pore. The total porosity, organic porosity and inorganic porosity of organic-rich shale samples can be quantitatively evaluated using this method. The total porosity, organic porosity and inorganic porosity values of the Longmaxi Formation shale samples from the well Py1 in southeast Chongqing lie in 2.75%–6.14%, 0.08%–2.52% and 1.41%–4.92% with average values of 4.34%, 0.95% and 3.39%, respectively. 4Chemical kinetics study of hydrocarbon regeneration from organic matter in carbonate source rocks and its significance显示文摘In the comparison research of hydrocarbon regeneration, a low maturity carbonate source rock is heated to different temperatures in a gold tube to obtain a series of samples with different maturities. Then, the heated samples, before and after extraction, are subjected to Rock-Eval pyrolysis through a thermal simulation of hydrocarbon regeneration in order to inspect pyrolysis characteristics and probe into the characteristics of the chemical kinetics of each sample. The results indicate that, whether hy- drocarbon regeneration peak is delayed or advanced, the potential of hydrocarbon regeneration is closely related to the expulsion amount and breakdown maturity of primary hydrocarbon generation. After extraction, the average activation energy of artificially maturated samples increases with the in- creasing maturity, but the chemical kinetic properties of un-extracted samples decrease. The calibrated chemical kinetic models that describe extracted and un-extracted samples are applied to the Bohai Bay and the Songliao Basin, and the results indicate that the combination of the two models can explain some contradictory conclusions previously reported. 5Identification of the lower limit of high-quality source rocks and its relation to hydrocarbon accumulation——Taking the Beier Sag in the Hailaer Basin as an example显示文摘The theory of 'source rock control' has evolved from source-rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation, to effective source-rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation, and to high-quality source-rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation. However, there are problems, such as whether high-quality source rocks exist or not? What high-quality source rocks are, and how to identify them, are yet to be agreed upon. Aimed at this issue of concern to explorationists, and taking the Beier Sag in the Hailaer Basin as an example, this paper defines the high-quality source rocks and the lower limit for evaluation of high-quality source rocks, by using the inflection point on the relationship curve of hydrocarbon (oil) expulsion, which is calculated by the material balance principle, versus total organic carbon (TOC). The results show that when TOC is low, all source rocks have limited hydrocarbon expulsion and slow growth rate, thus they cannot be high-quality source rocks. However, when TOC rises to some threshold, hydrocarbon expulsion increases significantly with TOC. This inflection point should be the lower limit of high-quality source rocks: those with TOC greater than the inflection-point value are high-quality source rocks. In addition, the lower limit of high-quality source rocks is also related to the type and maturity of organic matters in the source rocks, as well as the mineral components of the source rocks affecting the residual hydrocarbons. Theoretically, the lower limit of high-quality source rocks depends on geological conditions rather than being a constant value. However, for the sake of simplicity and practicability, in this paper TOC=2.0% is regarded as the lower limit of high-quality source rocks. The examination of such standard in the work area indicates that the high-quality source rocks in members K 1 n 2 and K 1 n 1 of the Nantun formation contribute 76% and 82% to oil generation, and 96% and 91% to oil expulsion , respectively. 6Spatial-temporal coupling between high-quality source rocks and reservoirs for tight sandstone oil and gas accumulations in the Songliao Basin, China显示文摘The spatial-temporal relationship between high-quality source rocks and reservoirs is a key factor when evaluating the formation,occurrence,and prospectivity of tight oil and gas reservoirs.In this study,we analyze the fundamental oil and gas accumulation processes occurring in the Songliao Basin,contrasting tight oil sand reservoirs in the south with tight gas sand reservoirs in the north.This is done using geochemical data,constant-rate and conventional mercury injection experiments,and fluid inclusion analyses.Our results demonstrate that as far as fluid mobility is concerned,the expulsion center coincides with the overpressure zone,and its boundary limits the occurrence of tight oil and gas accumulations.In addition,the lower permeability limit of high-quality reservoirs,controlled by pore-throat structures,is 0.1×10^-3μm^2 in the fourth member of the Lower Cretaceous Quantou Formation(K1q^4)in the southern Songliao Basin,and 0.05×10^-3μm^2 in the Lower Cretaceous Shahezi Formation(K1sh)in the northern Songliao Basin.Furthermore,the results indicate that the formation of tight oil and gas reservoirs requires the densification of reservoirs prior to the main phase of hydrocarbon expulsion from the source rocks.Reservoir“sweet spots”develop at the intersection of high-quality source rocks(with high pore pressure)and reservoirs(with high permeability).Laixing Cai Guolin Xiao Shuangfang Lu Jiao Wang Zhiqiang Wu 2019International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2019,29,3:6

8Scale-Dependent Nature of Porosity and Pore Size Distribution in Lacustrine Shales: An Investigation by BIB-SEM and X-Ray CT Methods显示文摘Due to heterogeneous pore distributions within shales,petrophysical properties of shales determined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray computed tomography(CT) methods strongly depend on the observed domain size(analysis scale). In this paper,the influence of the analysis scale on areal and bulk porosities and pore size distribution(PSD) for lacustrine shales from the Dongying sag of Bohai Bay Basin,China were investigated using broad ion beam(BIB)-SEM and X-ray CT methods.The BIB-SEM cross-sections with high imaging resolution(10 nm/pixel) and a large field of view(>1 mm2)mainly describe the 2 D nanoscale pore system in the two shales(samples F41#-2 and Y556#-1),while CTbased 3 D reconstructions with resolutions of 0.42(F41#-1) and 0.5 μm/pixel(H172#-1) reflect the 3 D submicron pore system. The results indicate that the areal(bulk) porosity exhibits a multiple power-law distribution with increasing analysis area(volume),which can be used to extrapolate the porosity of a given area(volume). Based on SEM and CT investigations,the sizes of the minimum representative elementary areas(REAs) and volumes(REVs) were determined respectively,which are closely associated with the heterogeneousness of the pore system. Minimum REAs are proposed to be 2.93×10~4(F41#-2) and 0.91×10~4μm2(Y556#-1),and minimum REVs are 0.016(F41#-1) and 0.027 mm^3(H172#-1). As the analyzed areas(volumes) are larger than the minimum REA(REV),obtained 2 D(3 D) PSDs are comparable to each other and can be considered to reflect the shale PSD. 10Carbon isotope fractionation during shale gas transport: Mechanism, characterization and significance显示文摘The gas in-place(GIP)content and the ratio of adsorbed/free gas are two key parameters for the assessment of shale gas resources and have thus received extensive attention.A variety of methods have been proposed to solve these issues,however none have gained widespread acceptance.Carbon isotope fractionation during the methane transport process provides abundant information,serving as an effective method for differentiating the gas transport processes of adsorbed gas and free gas and ultimately evaluating the two key parameters.In this study,four stages of methane carbon isotope fractionation were documented during a laboratory experiment that simulated gas transport through shale.The four stages reflect different transport processes:the free gas seepage stage(Ⅰ),transition stage(Ⅱ),adsorbed gas desorption stage(Ⅲ)and concentration diffusion stage(Ⅳ).Combined with the results of decoupling experiments,the isotope fractionation characteristics donated by the single effect(seepage,adsorption-desorption and diffusion)were clearly revealed.We further propose a technique integrating the Amoco curve fit(ACF)method and carbon isotope fractionation(CIF)to determine the dynamic change in adsorbed and free gas ratios during gas production.We find that the gases produced in stage Ⅰ are primarily composed of free gas and that carbon isotope ratios of methane(δ13C1)are stable and equal to the ratios of source gas(13C 10).In stage Ⅱ,the contribution of free gas decreases,while the proportion of adsorbed gas increases,and the δ13C1 gradually becomes lighter.With the depletion of free gas,the adsorbed gas contribution in stage Ⅲ reaches 100%,and the δ13C1 becomes heavier.Finally,in stage Ⅳ,the desorbed gas remaining in the pore spaces diffuses out under the concentration difference,and the δ13C1 becomes lighter again and finally stabilizes.In addition,a kinetic model for the quantitative description of isotope fractionation during desorption and diffusion was established.Wenbiao LI Shuangfang LU Junqian LI Pengfei ZHANG Siyuan WANG Wenjun FENG Yongbo WEI 2020Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,5:4

12Lacustrine Shale Oil Resource Potential of Es3L Sub-Member of Bonan Sag, Bohai Bay Basin, Eastern China显示文摘Following shale gas, shale oil has become another highlight in unconventional hydrocarbon exploration and development. A large amount of shale oil has been produced from a host of marine shale in North America in recent years. In China, lacustrine shale, as the main source rock of conventional oil and gas, should also have abundant oil retained in place. In this study, geochemical and geologic characteristics of lacustrine shale from Es_3~L sub-member in Bonan sag were characterized by using total organic carbon(TOC), Rock-Eval pyrolysis, X-ray diffraction, and ?log R method. The results show that the Es_3~L sub-member shale have TOC contents ranging from 0.5 wt.% to 9.3 wt.%, with an average of 2.9 wt.%. The organic matter is predominantly Type I kerogen, with minor amounts of Type II1 kerogen. The temperature of maximum yield of pyrolysate(Tmax) values ranges from 424 to 447 °C, with an average of 440 °C, and vitrinite reflectance(Ro%) ranges from 0.7% to 0.9%, indicating most of shales are thermally mature. The dominant minerals of Es_3~L shale in Bonan sag are carbonates(including calcite and dolomite), averaging 51.82 wt.%, and the second minerals are clay(mostly are montmorillonite-illite-mixed layer and illite) and quartz, averaging about 18 wt.%. Finally, its shale oil resources were evaluated by using the volumetric method, and the evaluation result shows that the shale oil resource is up to 5.94 billion tons, and mostly Class I resource. 18Classification of microscopic pore-throats and the grading evaluation on shale oil reservoirs显示文摘On the basis of the characterization of microscopic pore-throats in shale oil reservoirs by high-pressure mercury intrusion technique, a grading evaluation standard of shale oil reservoirs and a lower limit for reservoir formation were established. Simultaneously, a new method for the classification of shale oil flow units based on logging data was established. A new classification scheme for shale oil reservoirs was proposed according to the inflection points and fractal features of mercury injection curves: microscopic pore-throats(less than 25 nm), small pore-throats(25-100 nm), medium pore-throats(100-1 000 nm) and big pore-throats(greater than 1 000 nm). Correspondingly, the shale reservoirs are divided into four classes, I, II, III and IV according to the number of microscopic pores they contain, and the average pore-throat radii corresponding to the dividing points are 150 nm, 70 nm and 10 nm respectively. By using the correlation between permeability and pore-throat radius, the permeability thresholds for the reservoir classification are determined at 1.00× 10^(-3) μm^2, 0.40×10^(-3) μm^2 and 0.05×10^(-3) μm^2 respectively. By using the exponential relationship between porosity and permeability of the same hydrodynamic flow unit, a new method was set up to evaluate the reservoir flow belt index and to identify shale oil flow units with logging data.
