| 1 | Effects of particle composition and environmental parameters on catalytic hydrodechlorination of trichloroethylene by nanoscale bimetallic Ni-Fe显示文摘Catalytic nickel was successfully incorporated into nanoscale iron to enhance its dechlorination efficiency for trichloroethylene(TCE), one of the most commonly detected chlorinated organic compounds in groundwater. Ethane was the predominant product. The greatest dechlorination efficiency was achieved at 22 molar percent of nickel. This nanoscale Ni-Fe is poorly ordered and inhomogeneous; iron dissolution occurred whereas nickel was relatively stable during the 24-hr reaction. The morphological characterization provided significant new insights on the mechanism of catalytic hydrodechlorination by bimetallic nanoparticles. TCE degradation and ethane production rates were greatly affected by environmental parameters such as solution pH, temperature and common groundwater ions. Both rate constants decreased and then increased over the pH range of 6.5 to 8.0, with the minimum value occurring at pH 7.5. TCE degradation rate constant showed an increasing trend over the temperature range of 10 to 25?C. However, ethane production rate constant increased and then decreased over the range, with the maximum value occurring at 20?C. Most salts in the solution appeared to enhance the reaction in the first half hour but overall they displayed an inhibitory effect. | 2 | Influence of Minimum Quantity Lubrication Parameters on Tool Wear and Surface Roughness in Milling of Forged Steel显示文摘The minimum quantity of lubrication(MQL) technique is becoming increasingly more popular due to the safety of environment.Moreover,MQL technique not only leads to economical benefits by way of saving lubricant costs but also presents better machinability.However,the effect of MQL parameters on machining is still not clear,which needs to be overcome.In this paper,the effect of different modes of lubrication,i.e.,conventional way using flushing,dry cutting and using the minimum quantity lubrication(MQL) technique on the machinability in end milling of a forged steel(50CrMnMo),is investigated.The influence of MQL parameters on tool wear and surface roughness is also discussed.MQL parameters include nozzle direction in relation to feed direction,nozzle elevation angle,distance from the nozzle tip to the cutting zone,lubricant flow rate and air pressure.The investigation results show that MQL technique lowers the tool wear and surface roughness values compared with that of conventional flood cutting fluid supply and dry cutting conditions.Based on the investigations of chip morphology and color,MQL technique reduces the cutting temperature to some extent.The relative nozzle-feed position at 120°,the angle elevation of 60° and distance from nozzle tip to cutting zone at 20 mm provide the prolonged tool life and reduced surface roughness values.This fact is due to the oil mists can penetrate in the inner zones of the tool edges in a very efficient way.Improvement in tool life and surface finish could be achieved utilizing higher oil flow rate and higher compressed air pressure.Moreover,oil flow rate increased from 43.8 mL?h to 58.4 mL?h leads to a small decrease of flank wear,but it is not very significant.The results obtained in this paper can be used to determine optimal conditions for milling of forged steel under MQL conditions. | YAN Lutao YUAN Songmei LIU Qiang | 2012 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,3: | 4 |

| 9 | Method for determining number of coherent signals in the presence of colored noise显示文摘The approach of estimating the number of signals based on information theoretic criteria has good performance in the assumption of white noise, but it always leads to false estimation of the coherent sources in colored noise. An approach combining the combined information theoretic criteria and eigenvalue correction, is presented to determine number of signals. The method uses maximum likelihood (ML) and information theoretic criteria to estimate coherent signals alternately, then eliminate the inequality of the eigenvalues caused by colored noise by correcting the noise eigenvalues. | 10 | Improvement of Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Rapid Cooling Friction Stir-welded A1050 Pure Aluminum显示文摘Two-mm thick A1050 pure aluminum plates were successfully joined by conventional and rapid cooling friction stir welding(FSW), respectively. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the welded joints were investigated by electron backscatter diffraction characterization, Vickers hardness measurements, and tensile testing. The results showed that liquid CO_(2) coolant significantly reduced the peak temperature and increased the cooling rate, so the rapidly cooled FSW joint exhibited fine grains with a large number of dislocations. The grain refinement mechanism of the FSW A1050 pure aluminum joint was primarily attributed to the combined effects of continuous dynamic recrystallization, grain subdivision, and geometric dynamic recrystallization. Compared with conventional FSW, the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and fracture elongation of rapidly cooled FSW joint were significantly enhanced, and the welding efficiency was increased from 80% to 93%. The enhanced mechanical properties and improved synergy of strength and ductility were obtained due to the increased dislocation density and remarkable grain refinement.
