1New Technologies and Systems for High Quality Citrus Fruit Production, Labor-saving and Orchard Construction in Mountain Areas of Japan显示文摘Novel technologies have been necessary for improving fruit quality and productivity of citrus, labor-saving and orchard conservation on steep slope lands since aging of growers and decrease in the number of successors is remarkable in mountain areas of southwestern Japan. The purpose of this paper is to introduce new technologies for improving citrus production that have been developed in recent years. A new fruit quality control system using drip irrigation and liquid fertilization technique combined with year-round plastic mulching was developed, and it enables high quality and stable citrus fruit production. Water and/or nutrient solution is automatically supplied through drip tubes that are laid under the mulching sheets to give adequate water stress, so as to improve sugar and acid content of fruit. A new transportation system for steep sloping citrus orchards, which is a combination of the monorail system and contour narrow paths, was suggested. A small walking cultivator was developed to explain the procedure of narrow path excavation. After introducing the narrow path, working hours for fertilizer and chemical herbicide application were reduced. Disaster prevention mapping of citrus orchards on slope lands was developed based on computer-aided seepage estimation and topographic data. The mapping can show zones of both ascending flow and descending flow of underground water during heavy rains in citrus orchards. 2Metastatic basaloid-squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus treated by 5-fluorouracil and cisplatin显示文摘Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (BSC) of the esophagus is a rare malignant disease. We report here a patient with recurrent esophageal BSC,who was successfully treated by systemic chemotherapy containing 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and cisplatin (CDDP). A 57-year-old woman was diagnosed as having squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus upon endoscopic examination. Curative esophagectomy with lymph node dissection was performed under the thoracoscope. The pathological diagnosis of the surgical specimen was BSC. Five months after operation,the patient was diagnosed as having a recurrence of the BSC with metastases to the liver and spleen,and a right paraclavicular lymph node. She was given systemic chemotherapy consisting of continuous infusion of 800 mg/d of 5-FU and 3 h infusion of 20 mg/d of CDDP for 5 consecutive days every 4 wk. The metastatic lesions in the spleen and right paraclavicular lymph node disappeared,and the liver metastasis was apparently reduced in size after 2 courses of chemotherapy. The tumor regression was seen over 6 courses,with progression afterwards. 3Expression of Interleukin-11 and Interleukin-11 receptor a in human colorectal adenocarcinoma; Immunohistochemical analyses and correlation with clinicopathological factors显示文摘AIM: There is strong evidence that interleukin-11 (IL-11) is involved in the regulation of tumor progression, cellular growth and differentiation. Recently, interleukin-11 receptor (IL-11R) has been detected on some cancer cells. In this study, we investigated the expression of IL-11 and IL-11R in colorectal adenocarcinoma. METHODS: To elucidate the involvement of IL-11 and IL-11Ra in human intestinal adenocarcinomas, we examined 115 cases of surgically resected human colonic adenocarcinoma and 11 cases of adenoma by immuno-histochemistry and Western blotting. RESULTS: Among 115 cases of adenocarcinoma, 100 cases (87.0%) showed positive staining in the cytoplasm of carcinoma cells for the IL-11, and 87 cases (75.6%) were positive for the IL-11Ra. Six cases (54.5%) and four cases (36.4%) of 11 adenomas were positive for IL-11 and IL-11Ra, respectively. The expression of IL-11Ra correlated with the histological differentiation (P=0.033503), the depth of tumor invasion (P=0.006395), Dukes' classification (P= 0.015648) and lymphatic invasion (P=0.003865). However, the expression of IL-11Ra was not correlated with the venous invasion and the presence of lymph node metastasis. The expression of IL-11 was not correlated with any clinicopathological factors. In Western blot analysis, two human colorectal carcinoma cell lines and four tissues of surgically resected human carcinoma expressed both IL-11 and IL-11Ra proteins. CONCLUSION: IL-11 and IL-11Ra are highly expressed in human colorectal adenocarcinoma and the IL-11Ra expression is correlated with clinicopathological factors. 4Behavior of Transversal Crack on Slab Corner During V-H Rolling Process显示文摘The behavior of transversal cracks on the surface of the slab corner during vertical and horizontal (V-H) rolling process with flat vertical roll and groove vertical roll was simulated by explicit dynamic finite element method. The closure and growth of crack and the contact pressure on surfaces of the crack in contacting zone between slab and roll during rolling process were analyzed. The results showed that during vertical rolling process, when the groove vertical roll is used, the maximum contact pressure on surfaces of the crack is 115 MPa, and the closure of crack is stable; when the flat vertical roll is used, the maximum contact pressure on surfaces of the crack is 70 MPa, and it fluctuates greatly. During horizontal rolling process, when groove vertical roll is used, the contact pressure becomes zero which may accelerate the growth of crack; when flat vertical roll is used, there is still contact pressure. 6Analysis of the Abnormal Segregation of Pathogenicity in Magnaporthe grisea by Using a Genetic Cross of Oryza and Eleusine Isolates显示文摘A genetic cross between Oryza isolate Y93-164a-1 and Eleusine isolate SA98-4 was established, and the pathogenicity of 151 F1 progeny isolates was investigated on both host plants rice and finger millet. Results showed that the segregation of pathogenicity in this genetic cross was abnormal, i.e., most of the progeny isolates were nonpathogenic on both host plants. However, no abnormal segregation was observed when middle repetitive sequence MGR586 and 31 single-copy RFLP markers from all of the chromosomes were genetically analyzed. At the same time, comparison of the chromosomal organization among two pairs of parental isolates did not find any genomic abnormity. These results suggested that the 'abnormal' inheritance of pathogenicity in this cross was most likely due to the reassortment of numerous host species specificity genes but not the biased segregation of the host species specificity genes. 8Primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment:evaluation of a minimally restricted face-down positioning after pars plana vitrectomy and gas tamponade显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a minimally restricted face-down postoperative positioning following pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)with gas tamponade for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD).METHODS:Patients with primary RRD treated with PPV and gas tamponade and followed up for at least 6 mo were selected for the study.All phakic eyes underwent simultaneous cataract surgery.The patients were required to be in a postoperative position that prevented downward flow of retinal tears.Patients with macular detachment were positioned face-down for only a couple of hours.The patients were assessed for preoperative and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),anatomical retinal reattachment rate,and postoperative complications.RESULTS:In total,40 eyes of 39 patients with primary RRD were included in the study.A single tear was present in 30 eyes(75.0%),multiple retinal tears were present in nine eyes(22.5%),and oral dialysis was present in one eye(2.5%).The anatomical success rate was 90.0%(36 cases)after the primary surgery,and the final anatomical success rate was 100%.The BCVA improved significantly(P<0.001)from 0.75 logarithm angle of resolution(log MAR)preoperatively to 0.12 log MAR at the final visit.Postoperative complications included intraocular pressure elevation(≥25 mm Hg)in 11 patients(27.5%),fibrin formation in two patients(5.0%),pupillary capture of the intraocular lens in two patients(5.0%),and posterior synechia in one patient(2.5%).CONCLUSION:A minimally restricted face-down and flexible postoperative positioning after PPV and gas tamponade for primary RRD is effective and safe.Kiichiro Kusaba Kotaro Tsuboi Tsuneaki Handa Yukihiko Shiraki Takuya Kataoka Motohiro Kmaei 2021International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2021,14,6:2
