1Effect of abiotic factors on understory community structures in moist deciduous forests of northern India显示文摘Understory vegetation controls, in a significant way, the regeneration of overstory trees, carbon sequestration and nutrient retention in tropical forests. Development and organization of understory vegetation depend on climate, edaphic and biotic factors which are not well correlated with plant community structures. This study aimed to explore the relationships between understory vegetation and abiotic factors in natural and planted forest ecosystems. A non-metric multidimensional scaling(NMS) ordination technique was applied to represent forest understory vegetation among five forest communities, i.e., a dry miscellaneous forest(DMF), a sal mixed forest(SMF), a teak plantation(TP), a low-land miscellaneous forest(LMF) and a savanna area(SAV) of the Katerniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, located in northern India. Microclimatic variables, such as photosynthetically active radiation(PAR), air temperature(AT), soil temperature(ST), ambient atmospheric CO 2 concentration, absolute air humidity(AH), physical and chemical soil properties as well as biological properties were measured. Understory species were assessed via 100 random quadrats(5 m × 5 m) in each of the five forests in which a total of 75 species were recorded encompassing 67 genera from 37 families, consisting of 32 shrubs and 43 plant saplings. DMF was the most dense forest with 34,068 understory individuals per ha of different species, whereas the lowest understory population(13,900 per ha) was observed in the savanna. 2Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and Optical Absorption of VO2+Doped Ammonium Selenate Single Crystals显示文摘An electron paramagnetic resonance study of vanadyl ions doped in ammonium selenate single crystals is carried out at room temperature.It is found that the VO^(2+)ion takes up an interstitial site.The spin Hamiltonian parameters obtained from the crystal rotations are g‖=1.9576±0.0002,g⊥=1.9889±0.0002,A‖=203±2 G,A⊥=78±2 G.An optical absorption study is also carried out to evaluate various bonding parameters.On the basis of these parameters the nature of bonding in the complex is discussed.Ram Kripal Ashutosh Kumar Shukla 2011Chinese Physics Letters2011,28,3:2

14Electron Paramagnetic Resonance of Mn^(2+)-Doped Cadmium Formate Dihydrate Single Crystals显示文摘An electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)study on Mn^(2+)doped Cadmium formate dihydrate single crystals is carried out.The EPR spectrum at room temperature exhibits only one out of five fine structural transitions which split into six hyperfine lines in all directions.The spectrum is simulated using the EasySpin program and evaluated spin Hamiltonian parameters.The simulated EPR spectrum is in good agreement with the experiment.By comparing direction cosines of spectroscopic splitting factor g and the direction cosines of different bonds determined by the crystal structure data it is found that Mn^(2+)enters the lattice substitutionally and only one Mn^(2+)site is identified.The obtained g and the hyperfine interaction constant A achieved are g=2.006±0.002,A=(98±2)×10^(-4)cm^(-1)and the second-order axial zero-field splitting parameter D=(60±2)×10^(-4)cm^(-1).Indrajeet Mishra Ram Kripal Sanjay Misra 2012Chinese Physics Letters2012,29,3:0
