1Oral epithelial stem cells in tissue maintenance and disease: the first steps in a long journey显示文摘The identification and characterization of stem cells is a major focus of developmental biology and regenerative medicine.The advent of genetic inducible fate mapping techniques has made it possible to precisely label specific cell populations and to follow their progeny over time.When combined with advanced mathematical and statistical methods,stem cell division dynamics can be studied in new and exciting ways.Despite advances in a number of tissues,relatively little attention has been paid to stem cells in the oral epithelium.This review will focus on current knowledge about adult oral epithelial stem cells,paradigms in other epithelial stem cell systems that could facilitate new discoveries in this area and the potential roles of epithelial stem cells in oral disease.Kyle B Jones Ophir D Klein 2013International Journal of Oral Science2013,5,3:5

3Epidermal Patterning Genes Impose Non‐cell Autonomous Cell Size Determination and have Additional Roles in Root Meristem Size Control显示文摘The regulation of cellular growth is of vital importance for embryonic and postembryonic patterning.Growth regulation in the epidermis has importance for organ growth rates in roots and shoots,proposing epidermal cells as an interesting model for cellular growth regulation.Here we assessed whether the root epidermis is a suitable model system to address cell size determination.In Arabidopsis thaliana L.,root epidermal cells are regularly spaced in neighbouring tricho‐(root hair)and atrichoblast(non‐hair)cells,showing already distinct cell size regulation in the root meristem.We determined cell sizes in the root meristem and at the onset of cellular elongation,revealing that not only division rates but also cellular shape is distinct in tricho‐and atrichoblasts.Intriguingly,epidermal‐patterning mutants,failing to defne differential vacuolization in neighbouring epidermal cell fles,also display non‐differential growth.Using these epidermal‐patterning mutants,we show that polarized growth behaviour of epidermal tricho‐and atrichoblast is interdependent,suggesting non‐cell autonomous signals to integrate tissue expansion.Besides the interweaved cell‐type‐dependent growth mechanism,we reveal an additional role for epidermal patterning genes in root meristem size and organ growth regulation.We conclude that epidermal cells represent a suitable model system to study cell size determination and interdependent tissue growth.Christian Lfke Kai Dünser Jürgen Kleine‐Vehn 2013Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2013,55,9:3
4中国甘肃省中铺地区下白垩统河口群的兽脚类与蜥脚类足迹组合(英文)显示文摘近年来,中国西北部兰州-民和盆地的中铺地区河口群发现了一批恐龙骨骼化石和足迹化石。中铺地区的蜥脚类与兽脚类足迹组合相对丰富,但大多数标本保存较差。大夏足迹点发现了保存较好的类似亚洲足迹的跷脚龙类足迹(Asianopodus-like grallatorid tracks),足迹有着中趾弱前凸(weak mesaxony)。李家沟一号点的足迹组合包括了较大的兽脚类足迹和大型的、非三趾型四足类足迹,后者可能是蜥脚类足迹。李家沟二号点的足迹为多层的蜥脚类足迹,这表明了这类恐龙的活跃性,巨龙类的骨骸也可能来自同一层位。虽然中铺足迹组合不如同属河口群的盐锅峡足迹组合那么具有多样化与得以充分暴露,但依然体现了该地区以及中国早白垩世地层的典型足迹组合。邢立达 李大庆 Lockley M G 张建平 尤海鲁 Klein H Marty D Persons IV W S 彭措 2014古生物学报2014,53,3:2
