| 3 | Evaluation of 40^Ar/39^Ar Geochronology of Authigenic Illites in Determining Hydrocarbon Charge Timing: A Case Study from the Silurian Bituminous Sandstone Reservoirs, Tarim Basin, China显示文摘The Silurian bituminous sandstones(SBS) in the Tarim Basin, China are important basinwide reservoirs with an estimated area of approximately 249000 km2. We investigated the ages of authigenic illites in the SBS reservoirs and constrained their formation timing by using the ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar step wise heating method. The age spectra, ^(39)Ar recoil loss and their controlling factors were investigated systematically. The ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar ages were compared with the conventional K/Ar ages of identical clay fractions. The clay in the SBS reservoirs is dominated by orderly mixed-layer illite/smectite(I/S) with 5%–30% smectite layers. The I/S minerals morphology comprises primarily honeycomb, short filamentous and curved-lath particles, characteristic of authigenic illites. The unencapsulated ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar total gas ages(UTGA) of the authigenic illites range from 188.56 ± 6.20 Ma to 491.86 ± 27.68 Ma, which are 7% to 103% older than the corresponding K/Ar ages of 124.87 ± 1.11 Ma to 383.45 ± 2.80 Ma, respectively. The K-Ar ages indicate multistage accumulations with distinct distribution patterns in the Tarim Basin: older(late Caledonian-early Hercynian) around the basin margin, younger(late Hercynian) in the basin centre, and the youngest(middle to late Yanshanian) in the Ha-6 well-block, central area of the North Uplift. The age difference is believed to have been caused by the ^(39)Ar recoil loss during the irradiation process. Compared with the K/Ar ages, the estimated ^(39)Ar recoil losses in this study are in the range from 7% to 51%. The ^(39)Ar recoil loss appears to increase not only with the decreasing particle sizes of the I/S, but also with increasing percentage of smectite layers(IR) of the I/S, and smectite layer content(SLC) of the samples. We conclude that due to significant ^(39)Ar recoil losses, UTGA may not offer any meaningful geological ages of the authigenic illite formation in the SBS and thus can not be used to represent the hydrocarbon charge timing. ^(39)Ar recoil losses during ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar dating can not be neglected when dating fine authigenic illite, especially when the ordered mixed-layer I/S containing small amount of smectite layers(IR<30%) in the reservoir formations. | 4 | Impact of chlorites on the wettability of tight oil sandstone reservoirs in the Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation,Ordos Basin,China显示文摘Wettability is an essential property of reservoirs that is of great importance for enhancing oil recovery(EOR)and oil migration.The wettability of reservoirs is generally believed to be strongly affected by mineral compositions but it is not always the case.An integrated study of petrography and wettability was carried out to determine the impact of chlorite minerals on the wettability of the sandstone reservoirs in the Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation.Chlorites are found to be commonly present in the reservoir sandstones as detrital grains,rim-shaped cements,and biotite-chloritized forms with the pore peripheries being largely coated by chlorite,which is the main mineral in direct contact with pores.At pore scale,the wetting state of chlorites can either be oil-wet or water-wet in the tight sandstone reservoirs depending on wettability alteration by oil charge.Chlorites in contact with pores occupy a large of proportions of oil-wet pore walls and are crucial for the formation of oil-wetting state of reservoir sandstones.At core scale,the contents of chlorites in direct contact with pores do not correlate well with the AmottHarvey index due to other factors such as heterogeneity,oil-bearing degrees of samples. | Zhongnan WANG Xiaorong LUO Keyu LIU Yuchen FAN Xiangzeng WANG | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,6: | 1 |
| 5 | External rectal prolapse:abdominal or perineal repair for men?A retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background:External rectal prolapse is a relatively rare disease,in which male patients account for a minority.The selection of abdominal repair or perineal repair for male patients has rarely been investigated.Methods:Fifty-one male patients receiving abdominal repair(laparoscopic ventral rectopexy)or perineal repair(Delorme or Altemeier procedures)at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University(Guangzhou,China)between March 2013 and September 2019 were retrospectively analysed.We compared the recurrence,complication rate,post-operative defecation disorder,length of stay,and quality of life between the abdominal and perineal groups.Results:Of the 51 patients,45 had a complete follow-up,with a median of 48.5 months(range,22.8–101.8 months).A total of 35 patients were under age 40 years.The complication rate associated with abdominal repair was less than that associated with perineal repair(0%vs 20.7%,P=0.031)and the recurrence rate was also lower(9.5%vs 41.7%,P=0.018).Multivariate analysis showed that perineal repair(odds ratio,9.827;95%confidence interval,1.296–74.50;P=0.027)might be a risk factor for recurrence.Moreover,only perineal repair significantly improved post-operative constipation status(preoperative vs post-operative,72.4%vs 25.0%,P=0.001).There was no reported mortality in either of the groups.No patient’s sexual function was affected by the surgery.Conclusions:Both surgical approaches were safe in men.Compared with perineal repair,the complication rate and recurrence rate for abdominal repair were lower.However,perineal repair was better able to correct constipation. | Bang Hu Qi Zou Zhenyu Xian Dan Su Chao Liu Li Lu Minyi Luo Zixu Chen Keyu Cai Han Gao Hui Peng Wuteng Cao Donglin Ren | 2022 | Gastroenterology Report2022,10,1: | 0 |
