| 1 | Operating principles and detection characteristics of the Visible and Near-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer in the Chang'e-3显示文摘The Visible and Near-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer(VNIS), using two acousto-optic tunable filters as dispersive components, consists of a VIS/NIR imaging spectrometer(0.45–0.95 μm), a shortwave IR spectrometer(0.9–2.4 μm) and a calibration unit with dust-proofing functionality. The VNIS was utilized to detect the spectrum of the lunar surface and achieve in-orbit calibration, which satisfied the requirements for scientific detection. Mounted at the front of the Yutu rover, lunar objects that are detected with the VNIS with a 45° visual angle to obtain spectra and geometrical data in order to analyze the mineral composition of the lunar surface. After landing successfully on the Moon, the VNIS performed several explorations and calibrations, and obtained several spectral images and spectral reflectance curves of the lunar soil in the region of Mare Imbrium. | 2 | Leaf nutrient dynamics and nutrient resorption:a comparison between larch plantations and adjacent secondary forests in Northeast China显示文摘Aims Conversion of secondary forests to pure larch plantations is a common management practice driven by the increasing demand for timber production in Northeast China,resulting in a reduction in soil nutrient availability after a certain number of years following conversion.Nutrient resorption prior to leaf senescence was related to soil fertility,an important nutrient conservation strategy for plants,being especially significant in nutrient-poor habitats.However,the seasonal dynamics of leaf nutrients and nutrient resorption in response to secondary forest conversion to larch plantations is not well understood.Methods A comparative experiment between larch plantations(Larix spp.)and adjacent secondary forests(dominant tree species including Quercus mongolica,Acer mono,Juglans mandshurica and Fraxinus rhynchophylla)was conducted.We examined the variations in leaf nutrient(macronutrients:N,P,K,Ca and Mg;micronutrients:Cu and Zn)concentrations of these tree species during the growing season from May to October in 2013.Nutrient resorption efficiency and proficiency were compared between Larix spp.and the broadleaved species in the secondary forests.Important Findings Results show that the seasonal variation of nutrient concentrations in leaves generally exhibited two trends,one was a downward trend for N,P,K,Cu and Zn,and another was an upward trend for Ca and Mg.The variations in foliar nutrient concentrations were mainly controlled by the developmental stage of leaves rather than by tree species.Resorption of the observed seven elements varied among the five tree species during leaf senescence.Nutrient resorption efficiency varied 6–75%of N,P,K,Mg,Cu and Zn,while Ca was not retranslocated in the senescing leaves of all species,and Mg was not retranslocated in Larix spp.Generally,Larix spp.tended to be more efficient and proficient(higher than 6–30%and 2–271%of nutrient resorption efficiency and resorption proficiency,respectively)in resorbing nutrients than the broadleaved species in the secondary forests,indicating that larch plantations had higher leaf nutrient resorption and thus nutrient use efficiency.Compared with Larix spp.,more nutrients would remain in the leaf litter of the secondary forests,indicating an advantage of secondary forests in sustaining soil fertility.In contrast,the larch plantation would reuse internal nutrients rather than lose nutrients with litter fall and thus produce a positive feedback to soil nutrient availability.In summary,our results suggest that conversion from secondary forests to pure larch plantations would alter nutrient cycling through a plantmediated pathway. | Tao Yan Xiaotao Lü Kai Yang Jiaojun Zhu | 2016 | Journal of Plant Ecology2016,9,2: | 10 |
| 3 | Neuroprotective effects of the immunodepressant FTY720 on caspase-3 expression and neural apoptosis in a rat model of acute spinal cord injury显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies on the immunodepressant FTY720 have primarily focused on organ transplantation and autoimmune disease therapy.However,the effects on caspase-3 expression and neural apoptosis following acute spinal cord injury remain uncertain.OBJECTIVE:To elucidate the underlying mechanism of the immunodepressant FTY720 to alleviate spinal cord injury by inhibiting expression of caspase-3 and neural apoptosis.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled,animal experiment was performed at Central Laboratory of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from April to July 2009.MATERIALS:FTY720 was provided by Wuhan Yuancheng Technology Developing,China.METHODS:A total of 120 Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to sham-surgery,model,and FTY720 groups.Spinal cord injury at the T9-10 segment was induced in model groups using the free-fall method.Following establishment of spinal cord injury at the T9-10 segment in the FTY720 group,rats were treated with an intragastric injection of 0.3 mL saline-diluted FTY720 (3 mg/kg).MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:At 6,12,24,48,and 72 hours following spinal cord injury,caspase-3 expression was detected using streptavidin-peroxidase immunohistochemistry,and neural apoptosis was detected using the TUNEL method.RESULTS:Positive caspase-3 expression and neural apoptosis was not observed in the sham-surgery group at the various time points.The number of apoptotic cells increased with time after acute spinal cord injury,peaked at 24 hours following injury,and then gradually reduced.However,neural apoptosis remained at a high level.Caspase-3 expression positively correlated with neural apoptosis (r=0.864,P < 0.05).Caspase-3 expression and neural apoptosis significantly decreased following FTY720 therapy (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:FTY720 significantly reduced caspase-3 expression and neural apoptosis in a rat model of acute spinal cord injury. | Liang Yang Decheng Lü Lianjie Zheng Zhaohui Wang Kai Tang Wei Zhang Xiaotian Li | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,9: | 7 |

| 5 | Experimental investigation and theoretical modeling on scale behaviors of high salinity wastewater in zero liquid discharge process of coal chemical industry显示文摘Zero liquid discharge(ZLD)treatment and reuse equipment of high salinity wastewater in coal-chemical industry often occur in various types of blockage problems because of high salt content,affecting the long-term stability of the device.In this study,the effects of solution temperature,steel,reaction time and wall roughness on fouling were investigated.The changes in the contents of fouling and fouling substances were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed by XRD and EDS respectively,and the formation of scale was observed by SEM.The results show that with temperature increasing,Q235 steel is the most difficult to scale.Scaling rate of all salt scales reaches a maximum after 12 h,and the fouling rate decreases significantly from 12 to 48 h.It gradually stabilizes at 48 to 96 h.With the roughness increasing,the thickness of fouling layer increases,and a linear relationship is presented for 1 to 10 h.By comparing actual and simulated wastewater scaling rates,the relationship between actual and simulated wastewater scaling rates is y=ax-0.494.The composition of the scale was analyzed,calcium carbonate is the main product and increases with fouling time.Based on the above-mentioned results combining literatures,the hybrid prediction model with calcium carbonate as the main product is put forward.It is discussed microscopically that calcium carbonate is converted from aragonite and vaterite in a thermodynamically metastable state to calcite in a thermodynamically stable state. | Kai Lu Yang Lü Youxiang Bai Jueru Zhang Nanxi Bie Yongsheng Ren Yulong Ma | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,4: | 5 |
| 6 | Electrophysiological responses of the rice striped stem borer Chilo suppressalis to volatiles of the trap plant vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides L.)显示文摘Vetiver grass(Vetiveria zizanioides L.)was previously found to effectively attract female adults of Chilo suppressalis(Walker),an important pest of rice.To determine the volatile compounds involved in this attraction,electroantennography(EAG)responses to seven synthetic volatiles released from vetiver plants were examined.Our results indicated that the responses of C.suppressalis adult antennae to the different compounds varied widely.The compounds elicited strong EAG responses in female antennae were subsequently selected for further EAG response tests,namely,caryophyllene,β-ocimene,linalool andα-pinene.EAG responses to a combination of these four compounds did not differ significantly from the individual compounds.However,pair combination tests indicated that 0.01μgμL^(–1) linalool and 50μgμL^(–1)α-pinene,50μgμL^(–1) caryophyllene and 0.01μgμL^(–1) linalool,0.01μgμL^(–1)β-ocimene and 0.01μgμL^(–1) linalool,and 0.01μgμL^(–1)β-ocimene and 50μgμL^(–1) caryophyllene elicited significantly greater EAG responses in 3-day female moths compared to the 1-day female.These compound combinations and the corresponding ratios are probably playing an important role in attracting female adults of C.suppressalis to the vetiver grass. | LU Yan-hui LIU Kai ZHENG Xu-song Lü Zhong-xian | 2017 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2017,16,11: | 3 |

| 8 | Effects of sesame nectar on longevity and fecundity of seven Lepidoptera and survival of four parasitoid species commonly found in agricultural ecosystems显示文摘Ecological engineering involves the use of plants to promote establishment,survival and efficiency of natural enemies in agricultural systems.Some plant species may be hosts or provide resources to some pest species.We assessed the risks and benefits of sesame(Sesamum indicum L.),as a nectar source for seven economically important Lepidopteran pest and four parasitoid species in a range of vegetable crop systems.Our results showed that the mean longevities of arthropod parasitoids Pteromalus puparum(L.),Encarsia sophia(Girault & Dodd) and male Microplitis tuberculifer(Wesmael) were significantly extended when fed on sesame flowers compared to the water control.Sesame flowers had no effect on adult longevities and fecundities of six out of the seven Lepidoptera pest species tested except Plutella xyllostella(L.) females laid more eggs when fed on sesame flowers.It is likely that the increased fecundity is due to accessibility to nectar at the bottom of corolla because of their smaller body sizes.Our findings provide a first step towards better understanding of the risks and benefits of using sesame to implement ecological engineering for the management of vegetable pests. | LIU Kai ZHU Ping-yang Lü Zhong-xian CHEN Gui-hua ZHANG Jing-ming Lü Yao-bing LU Yan-hui | 2017 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2017,16,11: | 3 |
| 9 | Epidermal Patterning Genes Impose Non‐cell Autonomous Cell Size Determination and have Additional Roles in Root Meristem Size Control显示文摘The regulation of cellular growth is of vital importance for embryonic and postembryonic patterning.Growth regulation in the epidermis has importance for organ growth rates in roots and shoots,proposing epidermal cells as an interesting model for cellular growth regulation.Here we assessed whether the root epidermis is a suitable model system to address cell size determination.In Arabidopsis thaliana L.,root epidermal cells are regularly spaced in neighbouring tricho‐(root hair)and atrichoblast(non‐hair)cells,showing already distinct cell size regulation in the root meristem.We determined cell sizes in the root meristem and at the onset of cellular elongation,revealing that not only division rates but also cellular shape is distinct in tricho‐and atrichoblasts.Intriguingly,epidermal‐patterning mutants,failing to defne differential vacuolization in neighbouring epidermal cell fles,also display non‐differential growth.Using these epidermal‐patterning mutants,we show that polarized growth behaviour of epidermal tricho‐and atrichoblast is interdependent,suggesting non‐cell autonomous signals to integrate tissue expansion.Besides the interweaved cell‐type‐dependent growth mechanism,we reveal an additional role for epidermal patterning genes in root meristem size and organ growth regulation.We conclude that epidermal cells represent a suitable model system to study cell size determination and interdependent tissue growth. | Christian Lfke Kai Dünser Jürgen Kleine‐Vehn | 2013 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2013,55,9: | 3 |
| 10 | The comparison of ensemble or deterministic dispersion modeling on global dispersion during Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear accident显示文摘Ensemble forcasting,originally developed for weather prediction,is lately being extended to atmospheric dispersion applications,which is a new,effective methodology for improving the atmospheric dispersion numerical modeling.In March 2011,due to the massive 9.0 earthquakes and ensuing tsunami that struck off the northern coast of the island of Honshu,the Fukushima Nuclear Plant I had the substantial leak of radioactive materials into surrounding environment and atmosphere.To aim at the global dispersion modeling of atmospheric radionuclides from Fukushima Nuclear Accident,this paper presents two approaches of atmospheric dispersion forecasting:ensemble dispersion modeling(EDM) and deterministic dispersion modeling(DDM),conducts the globally dispersion modeling cases for Fukushima nuclear accident,and analyzes and evaluates the simulation results using observation data.In this paper,EDM includes three different perturbation methods:meteorological perturbation method,turbulence perturbation method,and physical parameterization ensemble forecasting method.The simulation results show that the trajectories from EDM have a better performance,which is in better agreement with the atmospheric circulation and observation data; the spread from DDM is slower and not as far as EDM.Additionally,the results from EDM display a better performance in the modeling of transport from Japan to China East Sea on April 4.The reasons for these results are:the techniques of MET and TUR are performed by adding perturbations on mean wind and turbulent velocity,respectively; the various different flow fields will result in far spreading in horizontal and the simulation results closer to observation; PHY is performed by using different diffusion physical parameterizations and produces the perturbations on vertical wind,which results the spreading in smaller range and discontinuous in horizontal.Finally,the comparative analysis between modeling results and observation data shows that all cases results are in good agreement with trends of observed radionuclides surface concentration; however,the modeling surface concentration is smaller than observation,especially in DDM and PHY.Furthermore,the EDM results show that MET and TUR are of more evolutionary advantage than PHY in modeling of average and maximum concentration.Therefore,this study can serve as a reference to atmospheric dispersion and environmental emergency response(EER). | SHENG Li SONG ZhenXin HU JiangKai Lü Kai TONG Hua LI Bing QIAO QingDang | 2015 | Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,3: | 3 |

| 13 | Bending strength and fracture surface topography of natural fiber-reinforced shell for investment casting process显示文摘In order to improve the properties of silica sol shell for investment casting process, various contents of cattail fibers were added into the slurry to prepare a fiber-reinforced shell in the present study. The bending strength of fiber-reinforced shell was investigated and the fracture surfaces of shell specimens were observed using SEM. It is found that the bending strength increases with the increase of fiber content, and the bending strength of a green shell with 1.0 wt.% fiber addition increases by 44% compared to the fiber-free shell. The failure of specimens of the fiber-reinforced green shell results from fiber rupture and debonding between the interface of fibers and adhesive under the bending load. The micro-crack propagation in the matrix is inhibited by the micro-holes for ablation of f ibers in specimens of the f iber-reinforced shell during the stage of being fired. As a result, the bending strength of specimens of the fired shell had no significant drop. | 15 | Breakup of Cavitation Bubbles within the Diesel Droplet显示文摘Supercavitation in the diesel nozzle increases the instability of droplets in part due to the two-phase mixture,while the effect of cavitation bubbles on the instability of drops is still unclear.In order to investigate the breakup of cavitation bubbles within the diesel droplet,a new mathematical model describing the disturbance growth rate of the diesel bubble instability is developed.The new mathematical model is applied to predict the effects of fluids viscosity on the stability of cavitation bubbles.The predicted values reveal that the comprehensive effect of fluids viscosity makes cavitation bubbles more stable.Compared with the viscosities of air and cavitation bubble,the diesel droplet’s viscosity plays a dominant role on the stability of cavitation bubbles.Furthermore,based on the modified bubble breakup criterion,the effects of bubble growth speed,sound speed,droplet viscosity,droplet density,and bubble-droplet radius ratio on the breakup time and the breakup radius of cavitation bubbles are studied respectively.It is found that a bubble with large bubble-droplet radius ratio has the initial condition for breaking easily.For a given bubble-droplet radius ratio(0.2),as the bubble growth speed increases(from 2 m/s to 60 m/s),the bubble breakup time decreases(from 3.59μs to 0.17μs)rapidly.Both the greater diesel droplet viscosity and the greater diesel droplet density result in the increase of the breakup time.With increasing initial bubble-droplet radius ratio(from 0.2 to 0.8),the bubble breakup radius decreases(from 8.86μm to 6.23μm).There is a limited breakup radius for a bubble with a certain initial bubble-droplet radius ratio.The mathematical model and the modified bubble breakup criterion are helpful to improve the study on the breakup mechanism of the secondary diesel droplet under the condition of supercavitation. | L Ming NING Zhi YAN Kai FU Juan SONG Yunchao SUN Chunhua | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2014,27,1: | 2 |
