1Physical,Mechanical,and Tribological Attributes of Stir-Cast AZ91/SiC_p Composite显示文摘In the present investigation,composites with silicon carbide particle(SiCp) as reinforcement and AZ91magnesium alloy as matrix have been synthesized using liquid metal stir-casting technique with optimized processing conditions.The composites with good particle distribution in the matrix,and better grain refinement and good interfacial bonding between the matrix and reinforcement have been obtained.The effect of SiCpcontent on the physical,mechanical,and tribological properties of Mg-based metal matrix composite(MMC) is studied with respect to particle distribution,grain refinement,and particle/matrix interfacial reactions.The electrical conductivity,coefficient of thermal expansion,micro-as well as macro-hardness,tensile and compressive properties,and the fracture behavior of the composites along with dry sliding wear of the composites have been evaluated and compared with the base alloy.K.K.Ajith Kumar Abhilash Viswanath T.P.D.Rajan U.T.S.Pillai B.C.Pai 2014Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2014,27,2:8
2Investigation on mechanical properties and creep behavior of stir cast AZ91-SiC_(p) composites显示文摘The room temperature mechanical properties and high temperature creep behavior of AZ91 alloy reinforced with SiC_(p) synthesized via stir casting have been evaluated.The mechanical properties showed improvement with respect to the amount of reinforcement content.The creep testing of the composites carried out at a temperature of 175 ℃ under constant stress of 80,100 and 120 MPa reveals different creep characteristics depending upon the reinforcement content and the applied load.The true stress exponents of different composites calculated from minimum creep rate indicate the possible mechanisms of creep deformation.Abhilash Viswanath H.Dieringa K.K.Ajith Kumar U.T.S.Pillai B.C.Pai 2015Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2015,3,1:3
3On the solar activity dependence of midnight equatorial plasma bubbles during June solstice periods显示文摘The occurrence of midnight Equatorial Plasma Bubbles(EPBs)during the June solstice period of the ascending phase of solar cycle 24,from 2010 to 2014,was studied using data from the 47 MHz Equatorial Atmosphere Radar(EAR)at Kototabang,Indonesia.The analysis shows that the occurrence of midnight hour EPBs was at its maximum during the low solar activity year 2010 and monotonically decreased thereafter with increasing solar activity.Details of the dependence of midnight hour EPB occurrence on solar activity were investigated using SAMI2 model simulation with a realistic input of E×B drift velocity data obtained from the CINDI-IVM onboard the C/NOFS satellite.Results obtained from term-by-term analysis of the flux tube integrated linear growth rate of RT instability indicate that the formation of a high flux tube electron content height gradient(steep vertical gradient)region at higher altitudes,due to the elevated F layer,is the key factor enhancing the growth rate of RT instability during low solar activity June solstices.Other factors are discussed in light of the relatively weak westward zonal electric field in the presence of the equatorward neutral wind and north-to-south transequatorial wind around the midnight hours of low solar activity June solstices.Also discussed are the initial seeding of RT instability by MSTIDs and how the threshold height required for EPB development varies with solar activity.K.K.Ajith S.Tulasi Ram GuoZhu Li M.Yamamoto K.Hozumi C.Y.Yatini P.Supnithi 2021Earth and Planetary Physics2021,5,5:1
