1Perspectives in the treatment of pancreatic adenocarcinoma显示文摘Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) is an incurable lethal disease whose incidence rate is growing. There is no effective screening for detection of early stage tumors and,in most cases,PDAC is diagnosed at advanced disease stages,when radical pancreatic resection is not possible. The aggressive nature of pancreatic tumor cells lies in the complex genetic mechanisms behind their uncontrolled capability to grow and metastasize,which involve essential adaptive changes in cellular metabolism,signaling,adhesion and immunoediting. In addition,PDAC cells promote a dense functional stroma that facilitates tumor resistance to chemotherapy and radiation. During the last two decades,gemcitabine has been the reference for the systemic treatment of PDAC. However,recently,a regimen combining fluorouracil,irinotecan,oxaliplatin,and leucovorin(FOLFIRINOX) and another combining albumin-bound paclitaxel with gemcitabine have shown clear therapeutic advantage in advanced PDAC,with survival outcomes of 11.3 and 8.5 mo on phase Ⅲ trials,respectively,over singleagent gemcitabine. With the pending issue of their higher toxicities,these regimens set the reference for ongoing and future clinical studies in advanced PDAC. In addition,the efficacy of oral fluoropyrimidine(S-1) has been well documented in Asiatic PDAC patients. The development of therapeutic approaches other than cytotoxic drugs has proven difficult in the past,with only one drug(erlotinib) approved to date. Besides,a number of agents targeting signaling pathways in tumor or stroma cells are being investigated. Likewise,immunotherapies that target PDAC in various ways are the subject of a number of clinical trials. The search for reliable biomarkers with diagnostic and prognostic value using genomics and mass spectrometry methods may facilitate monitoring and refinement of therapies. 2Primary esophageal diffuse large B cell lymphoma presenting with tracheoesophageal fistula: A rare case and review显示文摘Primary non-Hodgkin lymphomas in the esophagus are rare. Tracheoesophageal fistulas mainly arise from solid esophageal carcinoma or mediastinal malignancies. Our patient presented with cough, dysphagia and weight loss, and upon initial computed tomography imaging and esophagogastroduodenoscopy, a malignant mass in the middle third of esophagus with tracheoesophageal fistula was found. The location of the mass and presence of malignant tracheoesophageal fistula were strongly suggestive of squamous cell carcinoma. However, tumor biopsy revealed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. 3Benchmarking graph neural networks for materials chemistry显示文摘Graph neural networks(GNNs)have received intense interest as a rapidly expanding class of machine learning models remarkably well-suited for materials applications.To date,a number of successful GNNs have been proposed and demonstrated for systems ranging from crystal stability to electronic property prediction and to surface chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis.However,a consistent benchmark of these models remains lacking,hindering the development and consistent evaluation of new models in the materials field.Here,we present a workflow and testing platform,MatDeepLearn,for quickly and reproducibly assessing and comparing GNNs and other machine learning models.We use this platform to optimize and evaluate a selection of top performing GNNs on several representative datasets in computational materials chemistry.From our investigations we note the importance of hyperparameter selection and find roughly similar performances for the top models once optimized.We identify several strengths in GNNs over conventional models in cases with compositionally diverse datasets and in its overall flexibility with respect to inputs,due to learned rather than defined representations.Meanwhile several weaknesses of GNNs are also observed including high data requirements,and suggestions for further improvement for applications in materials chemistry are discussed.Victor Fung Jiaxin Zhang Eric Juarez Bobby G.Sumpter 2021npj Computational Materials2021,,1:5
4Light weighting opportunities and material choice for commercial vehicle frame structures from a design point of view显示文摘This paper focuses on an estimation of light weighting opportunities for the frame structure of commercial road vehicles.This estimation is based on simplified static load cases which play a predominant role for the dimensioning of a frame structure and therefore these simplifications are not putting the general validity of the conclusions into question.A comparison of different materials under this scenario shows that light metals do not show any weight reduction advantage in comparison to steel while a material-independent topology optimization has more weight reduction potential for the frame structure than a simple change of materials.Considering the constraints of part complexity which is directly linked with production and assembly cost,the ladder frame structure has become the current state of the art design.Thus the paper also puts a spotlight on basic rules of node design and vertical load induction in order to keep the weight of such a design as low as possible.Practical examples from manufacturers show that the weight of a commercial vehicle could be reduced by 10%,and main parts of the frame structure could be reduced by 30%using high strength steel in combination with innovative production methods like roll forming.Peter Seyfried Ed Juarez Mendes Taiss Alexandre Costa Calijorne Fei-Peng Li Qi-Feng Song 2015Advances in Manufacturing2015,3,1:2

6Stability of fruit quality traits in diverse watermelon cultivars tested in multiple environments显示文摘Lycopene is a naturally occurring red carotenoid compound that is found in watermelon.Lycopene has antioxidant properties.Lycopene content,sugar content and hollowheart resistance are subject to significant genotype×environment interaction(G×E),which makes breeding for these fruit quality traits difficult.The objectives of this study were to(i)evaluate the influence of years and locations on lycopene content,sugar content and hollowheart resistance for a set of watermelon genotypes,and(ii)identify genotypes with high stability for lycopene,sugar,and hollowheart resistance.A diverse set of 40 genotypes was tested over 3 years and 8 locations across the southern United States in replicated,multi-harvest trials.Lycopene was tested in a subset of 10 genotypes.Data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate stability statistics(BLUP-GGE biplot)using SASGxE and RGxE programs.There were strong effects of environment as well as G×E interaction on watermelon quality traits.On the basis of stability measures,genotypes were classified as stable or unstable for each quality trait.'Crimson Sweet'is an inbred line with high quality trait performance as well as trait stability.'Stone Mountain','Tom Watson','Crimson Sweet'and'Minilee'were among the best genotypes for lycopene content,sugar content and hollowheart resistance.We developed a stability chart based on marketable yield and average ranking generated from different stability measures for yield attributes and quality traits.The chart will assist in choosing parents for improvement of watermelon cultivars.See http://gffzz783b6e01a04243c3hf0nx0ouv6b556ckc.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/cucurbit/wmelon/wmelonmain.html.Mahendra Dia Todd C Wehner Penelope Perkins-Veazie Richard Hassell Daniel S Price George E Boyhan Stephen M Olson Stephen R King Angela R Davis Gregory E Tolla Jerome Bernier Benito Juarez 2016Horticulture Research2016,3,1:2
