| 6 | Wear Resistance, Cytotoxicity and Antibacterial Properties of Polyetheretherketone Composite Modified by Carbon Fiber and Black Phosphorus显示文摘High wear resistance, low cytotoxicity and excellent antibacterial properties are the basis for osseointegration of implant materials.Polyetheretherketone(PEEK)has been considered as a potential implant material due to its excellent biocompatibility, natural radiolucency and mechanical properties. In this work,to improve the wear resistance, cytotoxicity and antibacterial properties of PEEK,carbon fiber(CFR)and Black Phosphorus(BP)were used to synergistically modify PEEK by two methods, deposition of BP coating on CFR-PEEK and BP/CFR-PEEK coating on Ti6Al4V(TC4)through electrostatic spraying. After CFR and BP synergistically modified PEEK,the friction coefficient of BP coating on CFR-PEEK and BP/CFR-PEEK coating were 0.14±0.01 and 0.09±0.02,respectively.The wear volume of BP coating on CFR-PEEK(30.54±1.32)was higher than that of BP/CFR-PEEK coating(9.46±1.32),which indicated that BP/CFR-PEEK coating showed high wear resistance. The difference in wear resistance may be caused by the fact that BP was not easily oxidized in BP/CFR-PEEK coating. In addition,BP coating on CFR-PEEK and BP/CFR-PEEK coating showed no obvious cytotoxicity to L929 cell and presented excellent antibacterial efficiency(up to 94.5%±2.8%and 96.0%±3.8%,respectively)against Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus).It was concluded that BP/CFR-PEEK coating exhibited high wear resistance, low cytotoxicity and excellent antibacterial properties against S.aureus, which might provide a foundation for osseointegration of implants. | Jingdan Li Qian Liang Wen Qin Jing Ma | 2022 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,1: | 1 |

| 18 | Review on Factors Affecting Plant Competition显示文摘The competition refers to the interactions of two or more individuals which compete for resources, and is a key process of plant populations and communities.A comprehensive understanding of plant competition is necessary to predict the responses of ecological systems to environmental changes. The inside factors affecting competition include plant density, biological factors and the biomass. The environmental factors related to competition include light, soil moisture, soil nutrient and altitude.High density affects plant competition by controlling plant growth.Allelochemicals produced by plants directly affect their neighbors. Trees and grasses may compete for resources where their root systems overlap.Herbivorous animals chose to eat some plants, resulting in reduction of competition ability of the plants.Plants make morphological shifts and alter the competitive ability between above-ground and below-ground parts in response to the environmental changes. When shade- tolerant species are absent in mixed forest, less shade tolerant species could maintain their dominance for a long period. In contrast, mixed forest with tolerant species would reduce the dominance of less-tolerant species, maintain and probably increase the dominance through the decline of less-tolerant species.Smaller plants should have longer survival time due to their smaller total water requirements when water is scarce, and the longer survival of plants with higher root allocation could be due to a relative reduction in transpiring surface per unit root length. In nutrient-deficient soils, plants are stressed directly by the lack of adequate nutrients and competitive interactions may be controlled by a plant’s ability to efficiently take up available nutrients. In nutrient-sufficient soils, plants with the highest maximum growth rates may well be the superior competitors.Intensity of light competition declines with altitude. The future research about competition will focus on large scale, long term and multi-population research, the multi-disciplinary cooperation, combining competition mechanisms with empirical models, complicated competition model and the root system competition, effects of morphological and physiological plasticity of plants on plant competition. | Xue Li Fu Jingdan | 2012 | Chinese Forestry Science and Technology2012,11,3: | 0 |
| 19 | Hydrothermal Desulfurization on Porous Sulfonated CFR-PEEK Surface Structure Used for Implant Application显示文摘The poor wear resistance and bio-inertness surface of polyetheretherketone(PEEK)limits the implant applications of PEEK and its composites.Carbon fiber(CFR)was used to boost the wear resistance of PEEK;however, the bioactivity of carbon fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone(CFR-PEEK)composites is even worse. The bioactivity of CFR-PEEK can be enhanced by constructing 3D porous structure.Nevertheless, large number of sulfur component introduced by sulfonation shows cytotoxicity and can cause damage to human cells.Besides, the sulfur component affects the cytotoxicity and bioactivity of sulfonated CFR-PEEK(SCFR-PEEK).Hydrothermal treatment can sweep away the sulfur component in the 3D porous structure of SCFR-PEEK.Meanwhile,the changes in crystallinity and hardness after hydrothermal treatment may also affect the wear resistance. Therefore, the effect of hydrothermal temperature on wear resistance, cytotoxicity and bioactivity of SCFR-PEEK were studied. In this work, the samples with hydrothermal temperature 90–120℃exhibited high wear resistance. The 3D pore structure of SCFR-PEEK unchanged after hydrothermal treatment, and the sulfur component in the 3D pore structure gradually decreased with increasing hydrothermal temperature by SEM images and EDS analysis. In addition,SCFR-PEEK treated in 90–120℃.Exhibited low cytotoxicity and high bioactivity, which is beneficial for the implant materials. | Jingdan Li Wen Qin Patrick Osei Lartey Yulong Fu Jing Ma | 2023 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2023,20,2: | 0 |
| 20 | An adaptive spatial clustering method for automatic brain MR image segmentation显示文摘In this paper,an adaptive spatial clustering method is presented for automatic brain MR image segmentation, which is based on a competitive learning algorithm-self-organizing map(SOM).We use a pattern recognition approach in terms of feature generation and classifier design.Firstly,a multi-dimensional feature vector is constructed using local spatial information. Then,an adaptive spatial growing hierarchical SOM(ASGHSOM) is proposed as the classifier, which is an extension of SOM,fusing multi-scale segmentation with the competitive learning clustering algorithm to overcome the problem of overlapping grey-scale intensities on boundary regions.Furthermore,an adaptive spatial distance is integrated with ASGHSOM,in which local spatial information is considered in the clustering process to reduce the noise effiect and the classification ambiguity. Our proposed method is validated by extensive experiments using both simulated and real MR data with varying noise level, and is compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms. | Jingdan Zhang,Daoqing Dai Center for Computer Vision and Department of Mathematics,Sun Yat-Sen(Zhongshan) University,Guangzhou 510275,China | 2009 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,10: | 0 |
