1Entransy dissipation number and its application to heat exchanger performance evaluation显示文摘Based on the concept of the entransy which characterizes heat transfer ability, a new heat exchanger performance evaluation criterion termed the entransy dissipation number is established. Our analysis shows that the decrease of the entransy dissipation number always increases the heat exchanger effectiveness for fixed heat capacity rate ratio. Therefore, the smaller the entransy dissipation number, the better the heat exchanger performance is. The entransy dissipation number in terms of the number of exchanger heat transfer units or heat capacity rate ratio correctly exhibits the global performance of the counter-, cross-and parallel-flow heat exchangers. In comparison with the heat exchanger performance evaluation criteria based on entropy generation, the entransy dissipation number demon-strates some distinct advantages. 2Principle of equipartition of entransy dissipation for heat exchanger design显示文摘In the present work,a principle of equipartition of entransy dissipation(EoED) for heat exchanger design is established,which says that for a heat exchanger design with given heat duty and heat transfer area,the total entransy dissipation rate reaches the minimum when the local entransy dissipation rate is uniformly distributed along the heat exchanger.When the heat transfer coefficient is unfixed,the total entransy dissipation obtained by the EoED principle is less than that obtained by the principle of equipartition of temperature difference(EoTD).Furthermore,the exchanger effectiveness obtained by the EoED principle is larger than that obtained by the EoTD principle.When the heat transfer coefficient is fixed,the EoED principle is equivalent to the EoTD principle.We show that the equipartition of entropy production(EoEP) and EoED principles give rise to difference in entropy generation and entransy dissipation for a heat exchanger optimization design.The discrepancies are caused by distinct features of entropy production minimization and entransy dissipation minimization principles,the former is to optimize the design of heat exchanger by making the lost available work minimum,while the latter is not involved with heat-work conversion.It is found that the entropy generation number is not suitable for evaluating heat exchanger performance,since it directly depends on the inlet and outlet temperatures of working fluids.On the contrary,the entransy dissipation number is not directly related to the inlet and outlet temperatures of working fluids.Therefore,the entransy dissipation number is more suitable for serving as a criterion to evaluate heat exchanger performance.GUO JiangFeng,XU MingTian & CHENG Lin Institute of Thermal Science and Technology,Shandong University,Jinan 250061,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,5:46
3Entransy dissipation minimization for optimization of heat exchanger design显示文摘In this paper,by taking the water-water balanced counterflow heat exchanger as an example,the entransy dissipation theory is applied to optimizing the design of heat exchangers.Under certain conditions,the optimal duct aspect ratio is determined analytically.When the heat transfer area or the duct volume is fixed,analytical expressions of the optimal mass velocity and the minimal entransy dissipation rate are obtained.These results show that to reduce the irreversible dissipation in heat exchangers,the heat exchange area should be enlarged as much as possible,while the mass velocity should be reduced as low as possible.LI XueFang GUO JiangFeng XU MingTian CHENG Lin 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,20:16
4Application of a Bayesian method to data-poor stock assessment by using Indian Ocean albacore (Thunnus alalunga) stock assessment as an example显示文摘It is widely recognized that assessments of the status of data-poor fish stocks are challenging and that Bayesian analysis is one of the methods which can be used to improve the reliability of stock assessments in data-poor situations through borrowing strength from prior information deduced from species with good-quality data or other known information. Because there is considerable uncertainty remaining in the stock assessment of albacore tuna(Thunnus alalunga) in the Indian Ocean due to the limited and low-quality data, we investigate the advantages of a Bayesian method in data-poor stock assessment by using Indian Ocean albacore stock assessment as an example. Eight Bayesian biomass dynamics models with different prior assumptions and catch data series were developed to assess the stock. The results show(1) the rationality of choice of catch data series and assumption of parameters could be enhanced by analyzing the posterior distribution of the parameters;(2) the reliability of the stock assessment could be improved by using demographic methods to construct a prior for the intrinsic rate of increase(r). Because we can make use of more information to improve the rationality of parameter estimation and the reliability of the stock assessment compared with traditional statistical methods by incorporating any available knowledge into the informative priors and analyzing the posterior distribution based on Bayesian framework in data-poor situations, we suggest that the Bayesian method should be an alternative method to be applied in data-poor species stock assessment, such as Indian Ocean albacore.GUAN Wenjiang TANG Lin ZHU Jiangfeng TIAN Siquan XU Liuxiong 2016Acta Oceanologica Sinica2016,35,2:13
5The influence of viscous heating on the entransy in two-fluid heat exchangers显示文摘In the present work, water and olive oil are taken as working fluids to study the influence of viscous heating on the entransy dissipation caused by heat transfer in two-fluid heat exchangers. The results show that the influence of viscous heating on the entransy loss associated with heat transfer can not be neglected for the liquids having large dynamic viscosity. The viscous heating effect maintains the heat transfer ability of the working fluids, relatively reduces the entransy loss in heat exchangers; the viscous heating effect relatively augments the entropy generation due to heat transfer and the available energy destruction in heat exchangers. For the working fluid having large dynamic viscosity, the increasing rates of the entransy and entropy generation contributed by the viscous heating are even larger than those contributed by heat transfer, when the mass flow rate of working fluid reaches a certain value under the fixed heat transfer area condition. Thus, the entransy loss rate decreases and the growth rate of entropy generation increases as the mass flow rate of the working fluid increases. 6The entransy dissipation minimization principle under given heat duty and heat transfer area conditions显示文摘Under given heat duty and heat transfer area conditions, the equipartition of the entransy dissipation (EoED) principle, the equipartition of the temperature difference (EoTD) principle, and the equipartition of the heat flux (EoHF) principle are applied to the optimization design of a heat exchanger with a variable heat transfer coefficient. The results show that the difference between the results obtained using the EoED and EoTD principles is very small, far smaller than that between the results obtained using the EoED and EoHF principles. The correct entransy dissipation minimization principle is chosen to optimize the parameters in the hot and cold fluids in a two-fluid heat exchanger, under given heat duty and heat transfer area conditions. The results indicate that the proper choice of the two alternative fluids has an important role in the successful application of the entransy dissipation minimization principle. The fluid that could improve the total heat transfer coefficient should be chosen, or the fluid that makes the temperature profiles of the hot and cold fluids parallel and decreases the temperature difference between the hot and cold fluids after optimization simultaneously, could be the proper one.GUO JiangFeng XU MingTian CHENG Lin 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,19:10
7Status and development of high-power laser facilities at the NLHPLP显示文摘In this paper, we review the status of the multifunctional experimental platform at the National Laboratory of High Power Laser and Physics(NLHPLP). The platform, including the SG-II laser facility, SG-II 9th beam, SG-II upgrade(SG-II UP) facility, and SG-II 5 PW facility, is operational and available for interested scientists studying inertial confinement fusion(ICF) and a broad range of high-energy-density physics. These facilities can provide important experimental capabilities by combining different pulse widths of nanosecond, picosecond, and femtosecond scales. In addition, the SG-II UP facility, consisting of a single petawatt system and an eight-beam nanosecond system, is introduced including several laser technologies that have been developed to ensure the performance of the facility. 8Progress of the injection laser system of SG-Ⅱ显示文摘A high power laser system was used to drive the ignition of inertial confinement fusion(ICF), of which the high energy,the uniform focal spot, the accurate laser waveform, and the synchronization between the laser beams are key parameters.To accomplish this, global laser characteristics control should be assured, which was the main purpose of the injection laser system. 18Topology-based analysis of pelagic food web structure in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean based on longline observer data显示文摘The tropical Pacific Ocean supports many productive commercial fisheries.However,few studies of ecosystem structure in the tropical Pacific Ocean have been carried out.In this study,we analyzed the food web structure in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean based on trophic relationships of 35 pelagic species collected by Chinese tuna longline observers from June to November in 2017.Topology indices(node degree,D;centrality indices,BC and CC;topological importance indices,TI^1,TI^3;keystone indices,K,K_t and K_b)and Key-Player algorithms(KPP-1,KPP-2)were used to select key species and construct a simplified food web combined with body size data.The Kendall rank correlation and hierarchical clustering analysis indicated that different topology indices resulted in consistent rankings of key species.Most key species were the same as those selected in other studies in the Pacific Ocean,such as Shortbill spearfish(Tetrapturus angustirostris),Swordfish(Xiphias gladius),Albacore tuna(Thunnus alalunga),cephalopods and scomber.The food web would be separated into many unconnected parts(F=0.632,FD=0.795,R^D=0.957)after the removal of the five key species,indicating the key roles of these species in the food web structure and stability.Body size was considered an influential indicator in constructing the simplified food web.This study can improve our understanding of the food web structure in the tropical Pacific Ocean and provide scientific basis for further ecosystem dynamics studies.Qinqin Lin Jiangfeng Zhu 2020Acta Oceanologica Sinica2020,39,6:1
