| 1 | Production of pig iron from red mud waste fines using thermal plasma technology显示文摘Red mud, an insoluble residue produced during alkali leaching of bauxite, is considered as a low-grade iron ore containing 30% to 50% iron. The present paper deals with the use of thermal plasma technology for producing pig iron from red mud waste fines. The smelting reduction of red mud was carried out in a 35 kW DC extended arc thermal plasma reactor. Red mud was properly mixed with fluxes and graphite (fixed carbon, 99%) as a reductant as per stoichiometric requirement. The effect of various process parameters like a reductant, fluxes and smelting time on iron recovery was studied and optimized. An optimum condition for the maximum recovery of iron was obtained. A new thermal plasma process applicable to direct iron making from red mud waste fines that would achieve significant utilization of red mud was proposed. | K. Jayasankar P.K. Ray A.K. Chaubey A. | 2 | Statistical Modeling Studies of Iron Recovery from Red Mud Using Thermal Plasma显示文摘Optimization studies of plasma smelting of red mud were carried out. Reduction of the dried red mud fines was done in an extended arc plasma reactor to recover the pig iron. Lime grit and low ash metallurgical (LAM) coke were used as the flux and reductant, respectively. 2level factorial design was used to study the influence of all parameters on the responses. | 3 | Paddy Leaf Disease Detection Using an Optimized Deep Neural Network显示文摘Precision Agriculture is a concept of farm management which makes use of IoT and networking concepts to improve the crop.Plant diseases are one of the underlying causes in the decrease in the number of quantity and quality of the farming crops.Recognition of diseases from the plant images is an active research topic which makes use of machine learning(ML)approaches.A novel deep neural network(DNN)classification model is proposed for the identification of paddy leaf disease using plant image data.Classification errors were minimized by optimizing weights and biases in the DNN model using a crow search algorithm(CSA)during both the standard pre-training and fine-tuning processes.This DNN-CSA architecture enables the use of simplistic statistical learning techniques with a decreased computational workload,ensuring high classification accuracy.Paddy leaf images were first preprocessed,and the areas indicative of disease were initially extracted using a k-means clustering method.Thresholding was then applied to eliminate regions not indicative of disease.Next,a set of features were extracted from the previously isolated diseased regions.Finally,the classification accuracy and efficiency of the proposed DNN-CSA model were verified experimentally and shown to be superior to a support vector machine with multiple cross-fold validations. | Shankaranarayanan Nalini Nagappan Krishnaraj Thangaiyan Jayasankar Kalimuthu Vinothkumar Antony Sagai Francis Britto Kamalraj Subramaniam Chokkaligam Bharatiraja | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,7: | 2 |
