1A NOVEL DESIGN OF COMPOSITE WATER TURBINE USING CFD显示文摘This paper presents computational investigation of a novel design of composite material axial water turbine using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD).Based on three-dimensional numerical flow analysis,the flow characteristics through the water turbine with nozzle,wheel and diffuser are predicted.The extract power and torque of a composite water turbine at different rotating speeds were calculated and analyzed for a specific flow speed.The simulation results show that using nozzle and diffuser can increase the pressure drop across the turbine and extract more power from available water energy.These results provide a fundamental understanding of the composite water turbine,and this design and analysis method is used in the design process.PIECHNA Janusz MLLER Norbert 2012Journal of Hydrodynamics2012,24,1:3

3Numerical investigation of the power generation of a ducted composite material marine current turbine显示文摘In the hostile and highly corrosive marine environment,advanced composite materials can be used in marine current turbines due to their high strength-to-weight ratios and excellent resistance to corrosion.A composite material marine current turbine(CMMCT),which has significant advantages over traditional designs,has been developed and investigated numerically.A substantial improvement in turbine performance is achieved by placement of a duct to concentrate the energy.Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) results show that the extracted power of a ducted CMMCT can be three to four times the power extracted by a bare turbine of the same turbine area.The results provide an insight into the hydrodynamic design and operation of a CMMCT used to shorten the design period and improve technical performance.Ji-feng WANG Janusz PIECHNA Norbert MuLER 2013Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2013,14,1:0
