2Colloidal synthesis and characterization of Cu_2ZnSnS_4 nanoplates显示文摘Synthesis of copper zinc tin sulphide(Cu_2ZnSnS_4/ with nanoplate morphology was achieved through colloidal method using oleic acid as capping agent and solvent with 1-octadecene(1-ODE) at 240°C.X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis shows that the synthesized nanoplates possessed pure kesterite phase.SEM analysis clearly shows the formation of nanoplates having the size of about 50–100 nm.Electron spin resonance(ESR) spectrum analysis of the prepared nanoplates shows that the valence state of copper(II) which indicates the strong coupling with other metal ions.Thermo gravimetric/differential thermal analysis(TG/DTA) analysis shows the weight loss of sample at 450°C predicting the loss of capping ligands on the surface of the nanoparticles.The possible mechanism for the conversion of nanoplate-like structures during synthesis was discussed.The results are discussed in detail.S.Ananthakumar J.Ram Kumar S.Moorthy Babu 2017Journal of Semiconductors2017,38,3:1
3Seasonal variations in species diversity, dry matter and net primary productivity of herb layer of Quercus leucotrichophora-Pinus roxburghii mixed forest in Kumaun Himalaya, India显示文摘Plant biomass, species diversity and net primary productivity are presented for herb layer of banj oak (Quercus leucotrichophora A. Camus)-chir pine (Pinus roxburghii Sarg.) mixed forest in Kumaun, central Himalaya, India. The species diversity declined from a maximum (3.56) in September to a minimum (2.11) in December. The monthly live shoots biomass exhibited a single peak growth pattern with highest live shoot biomass of 185 g·m-2 in August. The seasonal pattern showed that the maximum above-ground production (131 g·m-2) occurred during the rainy season and the minimum (1 g·m-2) during winter season. The below-ground production was maximum during winter season (84 g·m-2) and minimum during summer season (34 g·m-2). The annual net shoot production was 171 g·m-2 and total below-ground production was 165 g·m-2. Of the total input 61% was channeled to above-ground parts and 39% to below-ground parts. Transfer of live shoots to dead shoots compartments and that of dead shoots to litter compartments was 61% and 66%, respectively. The total dry matter disappearance was 61% of the total input within annual cycle. 4Understanding the El Nio Costero of 2017: The Definition Problem and Challenges of Climate Forecasting and Disaster Responses显示文摘This preliminary study examines the definition problem and challenges of climate forecasting and disaster responses associated with the El Nio costero(coastal) of2017, which developed rapidly with no warning and had catastrophic effects in Peru. Such a localized El Nio was not documented since 1925. An initial review suggests that in addition to the characteristics of the event(surprise),government responses may have been inadequate(as media reported) because of conflicting forecast reports(U.S. and Peru), which provoked a hydrometeorological debate and stifled decision making. Partly to blame was the El Nio definition problem, which can cause uncertainty and affect perception of risk, depending on which region of the equatorial Pacific one uses to identify an event. Responses were further complicated by the fact that some regions within Peru were experiencing drought prior to the El Nio costero's onset and impacts from the El Nio 2015–2016 were less than expected. Furthermore, a new government was in place, which may have hindered action. Thus, El Nio costero provides lessons to heed, not only with respect to the forecast information, but also with reference to the context of the forecast and disaster setting, which can influence disaster responses to hydrometeorological threats.Ivan J.Ramírez Fernando Briones 2017International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2017,8,4:0
5El Nio and the Kppen–Geiger Classification: A Prototype Concept and Methodology for Mapping Impacts in Central America and the Circum-Caribbean显示文摘The aim of this pilot study conducted by the consortium for capacity building was to develop a prototype concept and methodology for the classification and visualization of the geographic impacts of El Nio on annual climates and seasonality. Our study is based on the Kppen–Geiger climate classification scheme for a set of selected countries affected by strong El Nios in Latin America. By identifying and visualizing the annual and seasonal changes in regional, national, or subnational climate regimes that generally accompany an El Nio event,this research proposes an efficient way to detect and describe climate shifts and variability across time and space. Such knowledge provides a support tool for risk analysis and can potentially enhance government efforts of climate risk management, including disaster risk reduction activities that prevent, mitigate, and improve coping responses to El Nio-related hydrometeorological threats.Details of the conceptual approach and methodology to classifying and mapping El Nio's impacts are described and explained using the Central American and circumCaribbean region as a case study.
