| 1 | Quantitative analysis of cefixime via complexation with palladium(Ⅱ) in pharmaceutical formulations by spectrophotometry显示文摘An optimized and validated spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of cefixime in pharmaceutical formulations. The method is based on the complexation reaction between cefixime and palladium ion in the presence of acidic buffer solution (pH 3) in ethanol-distilled water medium at room temperature. The complex absorbed maximally at 352 nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the working concentration range of 2.5-35 μg/mL with apparent molar absorptivity of 1.015×104L/mol cm and Sandell's sensitivity of 0.001 μg/cm2 /0.001 absorbance unit. The limits of detection and quantitation for the proposed method are 0.175 and 0.583 μg/mL, respectively. The effect of common excipients used as additives has been studied in the determination of cefixime. The proposed method has been successfully applied for the determination of cefixime in pharmaceutical formulations. | 5 | Axonal degeneration of the ulnar nerve secondary to carpal tunnel syndrome: fact or fiction?显示文摘The distribution of sensory symptoms in carpal tunnel syndrome is strongly dependent on the degree of electrophysiological dysfunction of the median nerve. The association between carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar nerve entrapment is still unclear. In this study, we measured ulnar nerve function in 82 patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. The patients were divided into group I with minimal carpal tunnel syndrome (n = 35) and group II with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome (n = 47) according to electrophysiological data. Sixty-one age- and sex-matched subjects without carpal tunnel syndrome were used as a control group. There were no significant differences in ulnar sensory nerve peak latencies or conduction velocities from the 4th and 5th fingers between patients with carpal tunnel syndrome and the control group. The ulnar sensory nerve action potential amplitudes from the 4th and 5th fingers were lower in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome than in the control group. The ratios of the ulnar sensory nerve action potential amplitudes from the 4th and 5th fingers were almost the same in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome as in the control group. These findings indicate that in patients with minimal to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome, there is some electrophysiological evidence of traction on the adjacent ulnar nerve fibers. | 6 | Gold anomaly ranking based on stream sediment geochemistry in the Fariman–Kashmar axis, NE Iran显示文摘One of the essential tasks accelerate the decision-making process in mineral exploration projects is ranking anomalous areas.In this study,we used fourteen geologic maps(at scale 1:100,000)in areas where systematic geochemical explorations were conducted in the Fariman-Kashmar axis in northeast Iran to conduct the anomaly ranking.On all these maps,samples were consistently prepared to be analyzed through statistical and geostatistical methods.At first,anomaly separation was carried out by fractal methods that resulted in the detection of 308 anomalous samples in 128 areas.These samples were classified into three groups of first,second,and thirdorder anomalies,whose number of anomalous samples were calculated based on this ranking technique.Three factors,including the average concentration of each anomaly,its surface area,and the number of its samples,were used to rank the areas.According to this technique,the maximum anomaly score obtained was 172 for the Taknar area,and the minimum score was 3 for several areas.To validate the ranking results,some exploration operations were carried out in some of these anomalous areas in which mining operations started later.Several significant gold anomalous areas were introduced,which is considered an important result of this study. | Hassan Azmi Parviz Moarefvand Abbas Maghsoudi | 2021 | Acta Geochimica2021，40，2： | 0 |
