1A particle-breakage critical state model for rockfill material显示文摘Particle breakage has a significant influence on the stress-strain and strength behavior of rockfill material.A breakage critical state theory(BCST)was proposed to describe the evolution of particle breakage.The breakage critical state line in the breakage critical state theory was correlated with the breakage factor,which was fundamentally different from that of the original critical state theory.A simple elastoplastic constitutive model was developed for rockfill in the frame of BCST.An associated flow rule was adopted in this model.Isotropic,contractive and distortional hardening rules were suggested in view of the particle breakage.It was observed that the proposed model could well represent the complex deformation behaviors of rockfill material,such as the strain hardening,post-peak strain softening,volumetric contraction,volumetric expansion,and particle breakage under different initial confining pressures.XIAO Yang SUN YiFei HANIF Khairul Fikry 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,7:12
2Update on the applications and limitations of alpha-fetoprotein for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)is an oncofetal glycoprotein that has been used as a tumor marker for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in combination with ultrasound and other imaging modalities.Its utility is limited because of both low sensitivity and specificity,and discrepancies among the different methods of measurements.Moreover,its accuracy varies according to patient characteristics and the AFP cut-off values used.Combination of AFP with novel biomarkers such as AFP-L3,Golgi specific membrane protein(GP73)and des-gamma-carboxyprothrombin significantly improved its accuracy in detecting HCC.Increased AFP level could also signify severity of hepatic destruction and subsequent regeneration and is commonly observed in patients with acute and chronic liver conditions and cirrhosis.Hereditary and other non-hepatic disorders can also cause AFP elevation.Hira Hanif Mukarram Jamat Ali Ammu T Susheela Iman Waheed Khan Maria Alejandra Luna-Cuadros Muzammil Muhammad Khan Daryl Tan-Yeung Lau 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,2:9

4Tuning the selectivity of photoreduction of CO2 to syngas over Pd/layered double hydroxide nanosheets under visible light up to 600 nm显示文摘Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 with H2 O to syngas is an effective way for producing high value-added chemical feedstocks such as methanol and light olefins in industry.Nevertheless,the precise control of CO/H2 ratio from photocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction still poses a great challenge for the further application.Herein,we prepared a series of highly efficient heterostructure based on highly dispersed palladium supported on ultrathin Co Al-layered double hydroxide(LDH).In conjunction with a Ru-complex sensitizer,the molar ratios of CO/H2 can be tuned from 1:0.74 to 1:3 under visible-light irradiation(λ>400 nm).More interestingly,the syngas can be obtained under light irradiation atλ>600 nm.Structure characterization and density functional theory calculations revealed that the remarkable catalytic activity can be due to the supported palladium,which improved the charge transfer efficiency.Meanwhile,more H atoms were used to generate H2 on the supported palladium for further tunable CO/H2 ratio.This work demonstrates a new strategy for harnessing abundant solar-energy to produce syngas from a CO2 feedstock.Xian Wang Zelin Wang Ya Bai Ling Tan Yanqi Xu Xiaojie Hao Jikang Wang Abdul Hanif Mahadi Yufei Zhao Lirong Zheng Yu-Fei Song 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,7:5
5Modelling long-term deformation of granular soils incorporating the concept of fractional calculus显示文摘Many constitutive models exist to characterise the cyclic behaviour of granular soils but can only simulate deformations for very limited cycles. Fractional derivatives have been regarded as one potential instrument for modelling memory-dependent phenomena. In this paper, the physical connection between the fractional derivative order and the fractal dimension of granular soils is investigated in detail.Then a modified elasto-plastic constitutive model is proposed for evaluating the long-term deformation of granular soils under cyclic loading by incorporating the concept of factional calculus. To describe the flow direction of granular soils under cyclic loading, a cyclic flow potential considering particle breakage is used. 6FRACTIONAL ORDER MODELLING OF THE CUMULATIVE DEFORMATION OF GRANULAR SOILS UNDER CYCLIC LOADING显示文摘To model the cumulative deformation of granular soils under cyclic loading, a mathematical model was proposed. The power law connection between the shear strain and loading cycle was represented by using fractional derivative approach. The volumetric strain was characterized by a modified cyclic flow rule which considered the effect of particle breakage. All model parameters were obtained by the cyclic and static triaxial tests. Predictions of the test results were provided to validate the proposed model. 14Anti-Toll-like receptor 2 antibody inhibits nuclear factor kappa B activation and attenuates cardiac damage in high-fat-feeding rats显示文摘Long-time con sumption of high-fat food is a direct cause of cardiovascular diseases, and high-fatrelated inflammation plays an important role in it. Toll-like receptors (TLRs), especially TLR2 and TLR4, play important roles in high-fat-related inflammation. However, the impact of TLR2 on high-fatassociated cardiovascular complications is still unknown. In this study, we try to investigate the relationship between TLR2 and high-fat-related cardiac injury. SD rats were allocated to either a control group which were fed with normal diet or a high-fat group which were fed with high-fat diet for 5 months. At the last mon th, rats fed with high-fat diet were intraperitoneally injected with control normal mouse IgG or anti-TLR2 antibody. Heart tissues were collected for further analysis. RT-qPCR and western blot analysis results revealed that TLR2 expression was increased in the heart tissues from rats fed with high-fat diet and anti-TLR2 antibody had no effect on TLR2 expression. However, anti- TLR2 antibody alleviated masson staining area, levels of TGF-pi and Collagen I mRNA, and decreased TUNEL-positive myocardial cells and caspase-3 activity, suggesting that anti-TLR2 antibody protected cardiac cells against high-fat-induced cardiac fibrosis and cell apoptosis. By using immunohistochemistry, RT-qPCR and ELISA, we found that anti-TLR2 antibody blocked NF-kB activation, inhibited the expression of inflammatory factors such as TNF-a, IL-1,IL-6 and IL-18 in the heart tissues from rats fed with high-fat diet. These results hinted that anti-TLR2 antibody might exert its protective effect via inhibition of the TLR2/NF-KB/inflammation pathway. 15Thermal performance of cooling strategies for asphalt pavement: A state-of-the-art review显示文摘Asphalt pavements absorb and store more heat than natural surfaces. Thus, high temperatures are emitted from conventional asphalt pavements, subsequently releasing heat into the atmosphere and contributing to the urban heat island(UHI) phenomenon. Several cool pavement strategies, including the provision of additives and materials, surface coating and layer design, have been introduced to reduce the impact of UHI. This article provides a detailed review of the thermal properties of these mitigation measures in the context of cool asphalt pavements. The literature can be divided into three segments. The first segment discusses the impact of pavements on UHI and heat transfer mechanisms in pavements. The second segment focuses on various thermo physical properties that play an important role in mitigation measures;these properties include albedo(a), emissivity(e),solar reflective index, thermal conductivity(k), specific heat capacity(Cp) and thermal diffusivity. The third segment discusses cool asphalt pavement strategies which specifically cover the ability of the pavement to absorb and reflect solar energy on the basis of the materials and treatments used. The literature reveals that cooling strategies that deal with the pavement surface are important due to its direct incident solar effect, which depends on surface colour, material, shape and roughness. By using high-albedo and high-emissivity surfaces, the pavement can store less heat and lower the surface temperature.
